It’s all buttoned back up for now. All plugs and wires replaced and connected. I received the exhaust manifold brackets from Amazon and installed them. They were well packaged and quite stout.   Seemed to be about 5/16 thick brackets(I didn’t measure” and cam with the necessary bolts for install. Installation was easy and straightforward except that I couldn’t fit my torque wrench into the spot it needed to be so I free handed it.   Took it for a test drive and it definitely drives/accelerates better and there is quite a bit less noise, and no noticeable exhaust leaks from the manifold.

Still has a check engine light, but need to get to the auto Parts store to use their scanner and see what’s complaining now.

If you jack it up and can spin it and the front tires spin, it’s your front axles. If you’re can’t spin it I would think it’s the transfer case that has a problem.

At least I think that would be right. Then again, I’m Air Force, we would have had it taken to a shop if it wasn’t working right

I only connected four of the plug wires directly, i spliced the others into a switch panel so I can have a  Variable Cylinder Management system to save gas. Plus that will make the engine last longer since I’m only use a portion of it.

Swapped out all the plugs and plug wires. All the old wires were breaking and coming apart when I was removing them. I’ll post a pic of the plugs for everyone’s enjoyment. Also found two  broken exhaust manifold bolts on the rear passenger side, and one broken on driver side rear.  I’m going to try the Dorman clamps for the exhaust manifold and see how they work out.

So the engine has been having a major miss, check engine light and hesitation for a while now. I finally got the time to take the engine cover off and swap plugs and wires for an initial attempt to clean up how it was running. As soon as I took the engine cover off, I found this.

After reconnecting the plug wire to the coil it ran a little better. Still swapping all the plugs and wires. I’ll let your know how it is after.

I like the concept art. Only question is scale. Are those 35" to 37" tires, or 20" mini tires. That'll be the difference between a bad@$$ truck, and some little POS that looks like a child's toy.
You mean like the difference between a real K5 Blazer and the new thing Chevy build that bears the Blazer name plate?

No crossmembers, just the bricks arranged in a U pattern. Twin on each side and three across the back on the bottom layer, then staggered up to four layers. The first paving stone site right on top of those with a one inch gap at the back. Two more layers of brick and the top paving stone to finish it off. I’ll see if I have pictures of it being built. Or I’ll draw the patterns and post it.

$50 outdoor pizza oven. Consists of two 24”x24” concrete paving stones and 50 bricks(we used pavers as they were easy to get. You might be able to pick up the supplies cheaper at a building supply store, we went to a big box store as we were nearby.  Tested it on about ten pizzas this evening and it was a resounding success. Plus it didn’t heat up the kitchen.

Not familiar, Ken/Sam/others on Starlink...What's this all about?

elon musk.  i believe phil had something to do with this?

I know about starlink, but the details of this stellar internet...that's what I was asking about
Star link uses Low Earth Orbit satellites sitting roughly 340 miles above the earth. The older generation of satellite internet providers(HughesNet) utilized Geostationary satellites sitting roughly 35000 Miles above the earth. This is where the game changing starts. I know you’ve used satellite communications in the military and would speak into the handset and wait for the other end to receive/reply. That’s because the majority of those comms are over geostationary satellites, giving anywhere between 600-1200ms delay/latency. Same thing happens with your internet service on satellite. With starlink, the LEO satellites allow you to achieve an order of magnitude improvement on your latency, most likely between 20-50ms.  Add in the fact that the older generation satellite providers only had a couple of satellites and limited ground stations to support them and you have limited bandwidth to share over all customers. Starlink uses a massive number of satellites, reducing the customer density on each one, allowing each customer to have a greater upload and download “speed”.   Older generation said up to 25( more like sub 5-10 in my research when I was looking at it) download, starlink said you will get between 50-150, with it appearing common to get better than 100mbps.
Mind you, this is based on research and reading, not firsthand, but anecdota evidence like Ken and Sam seem to support it.

Just my two cents.

I think it’s the bacteria are not getting cleaned out of the fabric. Check out stripping cloth diapers, you probably need to do a similar process to get your shirts completely clean.  Or like JR said, a good presoak with baking soda could help.

Who’s to say it isn’t or at least isn’t real close. I remember building a model of a “concept” for the stealth fighter years before I went into the Air Force and lo and behold, the F117 I stood twenty feet away from at Ramstein looked pretty darn close to what that model was.

The latest series of big rains have made it painfully obvious that I need to regrade the driveway parking area. It slopes to the south and west which just dumps all the water directly on the smaller house on our property. It has been like this since we bought it. I had some of it mitigated but directing them water away a little further up the driveway, but water being water, still have a problem. So I guess I’ll be renting something and moving gravel/dirt and buying more gravel soon.

I had a .22 round go off in the kitchen one time. I had a little bowl I always emptied my change and such from my pocket into. One day one of the children were digging through it and just dropping stuff. Didn’t realize they dropped that .22 round into the toaster oven. At least not until one day we were heating up some leftover pizza and “bang”.  No one hurt but I did have to do some explaining and changed where I dumped my stuff at.

I’m not trying to stir the pot, just asking the questions that pop into my head, which admittedly can get pretty scary. You’ve got rock walls, a “reinforced” wall, metal fire door with associated locks.  First thing that popped into my head, how long would it take to cut through the above floor with a circular saw or reciprocating saw with a demolition blade?  We’re not looking to be pretty, just get in get shtuff and get out.  May be something you’ve thought of, maybe not. Just throwing it out there.

That all being said, it’s a really nice setup.

Fixed a leak in the laundry room water line today. It’s something that has been an issue for a while, but I kept hoping to put it off until we rebuild the entire laundry room. No such luck, it started getting a little worse and it needed to be done. I don’t really know what they were thinking when they put this in, if they were thinking, but it is much better now and no leaks.
