Went out and enjoyed this beautiful spring day. The kids had taken their pellet guns out to shoot in the backyard, so not to be outdone, I grabbed the AR and the .22 and headed out. Checked zero on the AR and shot through a mag, then helped all the little kids(under 10) shoot the .22 and then let the older boys shoot some. My wife was watching and having fun and then she shot through a mag on the AR as well. She had shot it once before, she likes shooting, just with the kids she doesn’t get a chance to as much as I do.  She was easily shooting minute of scumbag and better. Ive got a vortex strike fire 2 on it and I like the fact she can just grab it and hit the target.  Overall, a beautiful way to spend a couple of hours with the family.

I’ve managed (with my wife’s) help to keep the TBQ pretty even, 5 boys, 5 girls. Two of each are teens.  However, like TRN, I’m glad I have a guest house at times, and 63 acres to disappear on.

How about getting them chromed?  :)  They would definitely stand out and say look at me. Plus they could be a locating device for getting your mulch extraction team in.

Yes, eye on a golf ball for the win. My oldest daughter drew it on there for me. She thought it was funny. The rest of them took a few seconds. My 3(almost 4) year old was the only one that had a real problem with it. He came around in the end.
Here’s the real deal.

The med kit question is one I keep coming back to. What and how much. I’m always frustrated looking at the kits online but also get overwhelmed when looking to build my own out. My dad has some experience building out big kits, he started the local life squad from nothing and kitted it out and designed the squad vehicles. I guess I just need to give him something to do and have home build me a couple up.

Well said Don.  I almost said, “as usual”, but I didn’t want you to get thinking too much of yourself.

My wife and I have talked about it, we both plan to live well into our 100s, we’ll see what the Lord has to say about it, but I expect we’ll get to see great great grand babies.

I took the dogs out for a walk yesterday morning before church. Saw them take off over the hill just in front of me and walked up that way to find them going after a skunk. As I turned tail and took off running I was yelling over my shoulder to get off it. Didn’t work, they both got a good spray, the little one got the worst of it. Suffice it to say I didn’t make it to church yesterday morning, but I did take a couple of showers and bathe the dogs to get most of the stink off.

Another option if you want the larger screen is there are apps to mirror your iPhone display to an iPad. Start your chosen gps app on the iPhone, and mirror it to the iPad. Like the others have said, just download your needed regions while on Wi-Fi and you’ll be golden. It will also keep your electronics to a lower number and adapters to a minimum.  And it’s not like the pre rangers wont have an iPad you can use.
Last time I used an iPad for navigation was when I was with NATO driving around Europe in 02.

But Don, if you ban all Daves, you’re going to have to learn a new instinctive go to. And you know the saying about old dogs learning new tricks. Like the old I think you’d probably be better off just grumbling about the daves, snapping at us once in a while when we get too close.

I can feel your pain as well. The Chevy express needs tires, probably about $800 there. Plus I need to build the engine out like Don did so it is more fun to drive. ;). The Camry I bought for the girls to drive needs the exhaust fixed, it’s got a whole so is loud. I don the the odyssey needs anything at this point(knocking on wood). As for the K5 Blazer, the list is rather extensive and the priority is low since it isn’t a daily driver.

Wonder what constitutional scholars have to say about a justice who’s on life support.  I know the Dems would keep her on until the election and the then unplug her

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Unfortunately, from my reading, the lifelong appointment is taken very seriously by the justices and their clerks. There have been several incapacitated during their terms that were allowed to ride it out although being pressured and minimized by he other justices. In some cases they just basicllay ignored them and they didn’t get a vote and they pushed off any cases that said incapacitated justice would have been a deciding vote for.

Brings up another question. How can we be sure if any votes come up that she is the one voicing/casting the vote?  Is there a mandated/recognized procedure to validate the justices are capable/conscious at the time of filing a vote or opinion?

Now that’s pretty cool, a hidden walk-in pantry. What would be extra cool would be if you opened the doors and there was a set of regular pantry cabinet shelves, which you could then swing out for access to the hidden room.

Same here Dave, we did away with TV at the house, don’t even have an antenna. We have a projector that I have set up for watching family movie night or other special occasions(daddy’s got the big kids and momma only has the littles, stuff like that). It’s funny how quickly they zero in on tv or movies when we go to family or friends houses.  The kids all read like the words on the pages are going to fade away, which is great.

For news almost everything comes from the internet, we have 250Mbps fiber to the house. Also how we get most of our movies.

Funny thing though, when you have 10 kids, people tell you you should have a TV in your bedroom and watch it more.

Dave, this isn't playing. Its some real work.
I think the payoff with these motors is huge and am hopeful for a good result
I get there’s a lot of work, you just seem to be having a lot of fun.  I know there is a ton of potential in these engines, I just wouldn’t even really know where to start except for what I’m reading in this thread.  I think if I did anything, I might start with a donor engine, mine is at about 485k right now. Leaks some and burns some oil but still pulls strong and I’m getting about 13-14 mpg most of the time.

I picked up the Ubiquiti AC Pro just before Christmas after seeing what you were using. I had never heard of them before but after doing my research and looking at them, decided to give it a shot. So far I’m really happy with it. The range is better than my old three node meshed consumer grade network was. Setup was easy enough and POwer over Ethernet is definitely nice, as long as you can get cat6 to it you’re golden. It has given me better coverage in the whole house(~4700 sq ft) than I had before and the throughout I’m getting is much better. I’ll be picking up a couple more, probably the AC lite to extend the mesh into my garage and the back yard.

Are your cameras from ubiquiti as well?

Sorry to hear about your loss, Jon.
I can attest to the difficulty of digging in Kentucky’s rock laden clay “soil”. Nothing easy about it.  It may start out a rich dark soil, but about 1.5 inches down, you run into clay that only has one purpose, to hold the rocks in place.

Congrats on your home sale, it’s a good feeling when it gets finalized.

Had to replace the oil filter adapter gasket on the Honda Odyssey.  I had been noticing a small drip drip of oil leakage over the last few weeks, but didn’t think or have the time to devote to it. Got the oil changed last week and asked about it, I was told it looked like the pan gasket. Fast forward to day before Christmas and driving to Costco, it starts stuttering and goes limp mode. Took it to Valvoline (different shop from where it was changed) since it was right there. They said t was empty m, no oil on dipstick. They crawled around and said the bottom of the engine was coated in oil. They put 3.5 qts of oil back in and said start it up and we’ll see what is going on. As soon as I started it up, the guy below said it was draining oil from above the oil filter. In the one minute - two minutes it was running, it dropped a quart.  Manage to get it home and ordered the part. About a 30 minute job to change the gasket, pull right front tire, hose down with brake cleaner, remove three bolts, wipe down mating surfaces and put in new gasket. Not a drip leaked since then.  The old gasket was brittle and had a break in it.

Long story for an easy fix.
