Merry Christmas folks,   This would be the first year the wife didn’t go overboard where after the mess is cleaned up I don’t feel sick to my gutz about what she purchased.  The overspending can be just gross and today I am grateful we didn’t participate.    Some shoes and shirts for the kids some candies for good measure and some hot wheels cars. What else do ya need?

Hope all you boys are having a good holiday and staying safe.

Finally got the septic lift station on the guest house fixed.  Just got to put all the dirt back in the holes.  Installed a $300 pump and there was nothing wrong with the old one so I have spare...yea me.

Also got the electrical sub panel switched over to the shop and got the lighting circuit and one set of duplexes wired up.  Also got the internet cable for the wifi and cameras replaced and the lights over the doors that are controlled by wifi switches in the house wired back up too.

Feels good to make progress now on to the two 240v branch circuits and the four 120 branch circuits. Then I can get to moving all the shelves and cleaning and organizing.

Fortunately we have propane and running water. We were able  cook this all on the grill. Including the rolls. Then we made a lamp out of a box, foil and tea lights

That's worth some sort of merit badge.
Now do the scouts have a merit badge for survival holiday gourmet level cookin?
If not then I think we need somethin' like that here
A merit badge system for most of ya's
and
a more difficult to earn, get out of gettin' fired card for Daves
Anyone??
In any event, Jon, IMPRESSIVE!

I can't take all the credit. It was a joint effort between myself and wifes aunt Vicki. I said I can cook anything on the grill. Before I got it warmed up she was handing me the turkey fully prepped and wrapped up in a foil pan. The ham soon followed.
This morning we had biscuts and gravy, bacon and eggs. Delicious.

Maybe, but that box light kinda creeps me out.

In all seriousness, nice place to be off-grid, except for all the white stuff outside.

Thought of Jon when I ran into this video. A Deere loader on an Oliver.
Pretty sure Jons was Deere/Deere, but still cool.

I have litterally spent the last 3 days on the road.

I went from nowhere, SD. to home, to turn around the next morning and head to NW Wisconsin for a funeral tuesday morning, and right after that to make the return run back home.

Should i mention the hissy fit code my truck sent because i made it breath 0 deg temps which cost me $188 to have it thawed, code cleared and has to put the front winter kit cover on.....that was all during the funeral.

Then the 8 hour drive which normally takes 6.5hrs through the nasty storm that just smashed the upper mid-west.  Lots and lots of moronic scared drivers in the ditches.  Ol black betty never blinked an eye with 1K in the bed and the tires aired down to 60-65psi.
If you need the promise of eternity in the kingdom of heaven to be a good person … You were never a good person in the first place!

Well. Picked up the mail and my new trigger disconnect and spring kit for glock came in.  I’ve been using the ghost rocket this is supposed to be the new best trigger from Ghost.

Picked up some boom for New Years and put 3 racks of ribs and a pork butt on the smoker about 11am. Ribs were done 5:30 and rested until 6. I made a bbq sauce with some Stubbbs sauce and added peach jelly and habanero sauce.

Pork butt should be some shortly.

Boss has gotten really bad this past few months. I told him yesterday that too many things are getting messed up around here and we need a talk. He got defensive right away and angry when I told he we think he has dementia. I calmed the situation before it got too heated. We are going to continue this morning with my brother there.  We are equal partners and we are all very frustrated.

On another note I have been putting a new faucet in the kitchen, well trying to.

Old one the spray hose was leaking running down under the sink. Pretty obvious but I will leave that there if you get it.

I get a HD brand that has new nut you just hand tighten "NOT" and it just pops off when snugged up. Basically the threads (like a die) clamp inward using no tools that I had little luck with. Much less the wife made a big dinner knowing the water was off in the kitchen and there where dirty dishes everywhere as I tried to get the new faucet to work.

Anyway, just blowing steam some as working around all the dishes and the faucet not working as it should.

I did find these cool little work lights at HD too. $13 for two, 500 lumens with batteries. Low/high, hook, nail hook and a magnet back too. Worked good under the sink.

Been helping a friend's dad build some drill pipe fencing. He wanted to use a torch to saddle the posts. I talked him into using my tubing notcher.

I wish he would have punched me in the mouth. ... we're on the 4th hole saw bit cutting that thick wall pipe and my drill is making funny sounds.

Oh how I hated doing drill pipe fences...
Torch can always be interesting depending on the wax...

Happy New Years all y’all.

Make a jig and plasma or torch cut them. Much faster and less expensive.

Supposed to go get this tomorrow if the rain holds a little. Been looking for awhile and this popped up in Napa.

Guess around 2500 lbs. loading will be fun with no lift but a skid is available.

Why, tired of working on plywood and something to beat and weld on. I have a 6ksf shop going up soon.

Don't need it today but the price and location is right. Will just get oiled, covered and until I'm dried in.

Reason I asked is because we had one 10’ sq with 1.5” top in steel shop. Other than one or two jobs it was just a waste of space. I’d add 4 legs and cut it into two tables if you plan on keeping it. My 2 cents
