New, we traded in her Lexus too. It was at around 80k, and needing a couple things. By trading both we were able to get within $1k difference in price between new and our used vehicles so it saved us $3-4K in new sales tax so that helped.

With Baylee driving and my middle daughter getting license & car within year the wife and I do not need 3 vehicles for us. I’m done running to Indiana & back so having a truck was no longer necessary & with constant issues glad it was gone. I put 30k on it in last year and few months. Not including fuel and insurance it cost me .16 cents a mile to own. Haven’t figured out how that works out but doesn’t sound horrible. Momma is happy so you know how that works.

I drove truck home last night, unloaded it and took it to new dealer this morning. Had 15 miles left according to gas gauge when I got to dealer this morning.....

So we hosted some guy and his family from Texas last night for dinner. Good times btw.

Today I went to try and get a haircut (what hair I have left anyhow). Louie who is 80 owns a local place, straight up real barber even uses straight razor on your neck. Him and his son own the shop and both work it along with another guy (flavor of the month it seems) in this three seat shop. So I go there every couple weeks & it’s been three so well overdue. Get there & he’s closed for two weeks & not open until next Tuesday.

Ok, so went ahead and ran some other errands. So there is a new roosters place in a new shopping center with grocery store. I walk in and the sign says it’s a men’s barber shop but the prices would appear to be for women. Without tip they wanted $22 for a buzz cut. Ok, whatever they tell me ten minutes and I sit down as I scan the place. Ten chairs all female barbers & what appears to be one male barber in disguise who is more feminine than my wife.

I’m thinking great my luck I’ll get HER. Sure enough he finishes some older guy up in his 60’s & walks him to the front. I watch as the older male interacts with HER and it’s uncomfortable for the straight old guy. Next thing I know she calls my name out twice. I finally respond, she asks if I’m ready? To which I said no and walked out. Guess I’m waiting until Louie gets back on Tuesday & he’s getting an earful!

I have never been one to really push that agenda anywhere but some times I just can’t keep my mouth shut.

At my local Wendy’s hamburger place there is a He/She depending on the day and it’s rather confusing because one day it’s like talking to a total guy with a five 0clock shadow the other days it’s eye liner and lipstick.   I have stopped going in because I can’t take the name tag serious that say Jake

Ken, I’m not concerned or confused about my orientation at ALL.....

On the other hand, I’m getting tired of supporting someone else’s misguided life. The fact was the place was more expensive than my regular. I probably have less hair than my last cut. I didn’t think the conversation with said individual would be worth more money. So I decided it was a purchase I just couldn’t justify.....

Shawn, same setup here. My barber is 80+, and gave me my first haircut. He knows everything about everyone, their history and the town's. We have some great convos, especially when it's just him and myself. The language can be quite colorful.....much different than how he spoke to me when I was 5. Lol

Yup

Happening in a few hours

Great rehersal! The youngest pre-ranger sang "I can't help falling in love" the Elvis hit during the rehersal, accompanied by a pianist from the Cincinnati symphony orchestra. Everyone, I mean everyone, was in tears. I am SOOOO blessed as a father

And let me just brag on this kid a bit more if I may. He wants to go to West point. I asked him what he planned for a career after the Army. He looked at me with a confused expression. "Dad, Being an officer in our Army is all I plan to do." He is so determined, purposeful and focused. He thinks he may have a chance at becoming the first General grade officer this family has produced.

Am I proud?? In a word, Yea I am so freakin proud and happy and elated and excited and hopeful and happy and on top of all that, pretty proud, did I mention I was proud of the little pre-ranger?

Another wedding? West point, cool!!! And he sings.

I hate spending $15 on a cut. I look for coupons all the time. My wife cuts hair too, but won't do mine.

I'm recovering from a 4 day cruise, both me and the wallet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, First airline flight for the youngest.

Wife pays for the cruise, and flight, the rest was mine. Around 1k but the kids had fun. They parasailed, we saw a few things on shore, shows are free.

The boys and I leave for scout camp in the morning, right above where all the fire were last year. Be back sat, then a week by myself as they go to church camp.

Jr looks like you had a great time with the family. After all that, a week to yourself might not be a bad thing!

I need the week as I didn't do the guy weekend this year.

Going to let me finish a few things too as they are hard to do with everyone home.

So, at last nights Dirt Track event in Wheatland, MO I got to witness Scott Bloomquist’s 600th career win. Guy is my age and I saw him win about 28 years ago in Illinois on the same night my Dad won a special event at that 1/2 mile track with a large paycheck for Spectator/Hobby Stock cars in my old Dodge Charger.  Was a total whim going up to those races last night and another example of a small world etc.

You really need to get some NCOs over there...

Bobby,

Workin on it...

I think the little pre ranger is serious!

After recovering from the wedding and turning in the tux's, we came home and started pouring over the west point web site. Heck the kid knew everything about it. Same thing when we did you tube USMA stuff later on.
We watched a tube of a SGM, Delta guy who went through ranger school as a youngin. That kid of mine is gonna go for it if he can, I'd say.

I'm pretty sure I can get him a recommendation from a 4-star green beret friend of mine. That should help some!

Now the medium sized pre-ranger says he will not go to college, its a waste of time. Says when he graduates from H.S. he will already be enlisted and ready to ship out. He wants a career as an enlisted Infantry guy. So there you go, looks like in the end I would have produced two Army enlisted and one officer. Good ratio, I think. I'd be proud of him no matter the rank. Rank, afterall does not the man, make. His heart does!

Wow lots goin on.
Don congrats on wedding and pre Rangers.
Charles told you pipes easy peasy.
Dave I hate painting and have looked like that a time or two myself.
JR enjoy your week.
Mike, I need to go watch some dirt track racin myself.

Now the Sam update.
I’m sporting an apartment freezer at the cabin now. The surplus of energy from perpetual daylight and 1kw of solar says it’s a good idea for the summer. So far so good I think it will be a win.
Mama is there for the summer now so happy wife...
Replaced rattling calipers in truck as one had got so bad it was sticking.
Rolled 427k kilometres second set of brakes now. 267k miles give or take.
Boat finally has functioning automatic bilge pump (yes it has lived in lake six years without)
I got tired of finding water over the floor... :knucklehead:
O shoot, still have to send picture of broken generator.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Just put a ham in our new to us Traeger. Smoked 3 racks of ribs the first night, salmon last night, and now a ham. This thing is wonderful.

and solar!

Samm, the smart solar senor'

Yes!! And I will be referring to his solar install when we close on property next month. It's 1/3 mile to the nearest power, so that won't be happening anytime soon.

Idaho... not full time. To be honest, not sure how I'm going to get there part time. I haven't taken more than 2 days off at a time since opening the shop. .. need to get the tractor up there, chainsaws, and cut some roads and hopefully drag up the fifth wheel..then a well, then septic, or vice versa.

I just cobbled together 1kw system.
I spared no expense on the inverter, or batteries.
Rest was lowest price found stuff.

Depending on your needs more may be required.

Batteries aren’t cheap and the stupid tax is full price for forgetting water checks.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.
