Her body language reminded me of Obama. The way she spoke and held her self even how she pronounced her words. We all know who the puppet master is. As soon as Biden stepped down I felt like she will win. I hope I'm wrong.

Harvest has officially started. Got all the silage chopped. Sold the copper last year and hired it done. They did in one day what always took us 2-3 weeks.

Took a group of scouts to a 3 day meritt bage collage. It was hot and no shade. Luckily the troop camping next to us was my old troop when I was a kid. They had a big shade tent. Went to the water park last night.  That was nice to cool off.

Got back from a week of scout camp. They earned alot of merit badges. Everything from blacksmithing to swimming and pottery and more. This is my Nephew in the forge and my quarters for the week. Temps in 80s during the day and 60s overnight. Couldn't ask for better weather. Except for the humidity.

Got back in time to enjoy a float trip down the river with 65 other people. Ran into some old friends I haven't seen in years and made a couple new ones.

Getting ready for Boy Scout camp next week. I think I am more excited about it than some of the scouts are. What I'm not looking forward to is when I get back my wife is moving out. The past few years we have just been going through the motions. We are still friends and hardly every argue. We get along great. We just don't make a good couple.
A year or so ago we were talking about our goals in life. Where we want to be when we retire and such. We have 2 very different life goals. It sucks but it's for the better. The boys seem to be taking the news pretty well. She is moving to a very small town that they are familiar with. We have some friends and family living a few block away.

I am going to try it. No more bread for now. I am wondering if switching to homemade bread instead of store bought would have the same effect. Cutting out the bread is easy. Unfortunately cutting some of the other processed foods out are not. The Scouts are responsible for the concessions at all the town team baseball games, and we work the fair. I guess the fair will be a cheat weekend. I just weighed myself. 247 lbs. I want to be at 200.

Whatever preservatives they are using are working. I forgot a loaf of bread in the garage for 2 months. It looked like I just put it there yesterday. No mold or anything. I didn't eat it so I can't tell you how it tasted.

So the fuel line on on the Kubota generator decided to come apart and dump 5 gallons of fuel all over the bed. So that was my excitement for the day. Ruined my big 12 person cabin tent. But I guess I'm still better off than that hay hauler we seen on fire headed the other direction.
Spending the night in Ashburn Ga. This place is awesome. $45 a night with a $10 coupon for the store.

Spent a few days near natural bridge Kentucky. It's not a long hike but it's a little rough for a chubby 50 year old.
Trying out the Loves RV stop in Loudon Tennessee. 60 bucks. Full hookups. A little pricey but very convenient. I 75 above Knoxville is horrible. Had to dodge pot holes everywhere.

Got down to Kentucky and realized my trailer brakes quit working. They were working at the last stop so I took the last few miles slow and easy.
Replaced the plug and now it all works again. When I dropped the trailer we just spliced the cord where it was smashed. It appears to be damaged here too. Missed that before. I am going to strip this all back and see if I can find the broken wire.

The boys and I are off on our guys trip to Florida. My brother's kid is graduating from high school in Clearwater. My nephew decided to come along. Had a little accident hooking up the trailer. The jaws appeared to be latched so I went ahead and ran the jacks up before I did the tug test. They were not latched. Ripped the plug out, smashed the cord and destroyed the spar tire carrier. A couple hours later we were on the road. Got really lucky there wasn't more damage.

I have had every kind of camper there is except class A. Truck campers are fine. Little top heavy. I have been thinking more about getting a sprinter van and doing a conversion on that for when the kids are gone. I really like my 5th wheel and truck set up and I will keep that but there are places you just can't get into like you could with a truck camper or a van.

Picked up a set of 19.5 wheels and tires to replace the 7.50 20 split rims on grandpa's truck. They are shorter but I think they look good. Got them at a consignment auction yesterday. $225 for all 6. The tires themselves are pretty much shot but they will last me a long time. They are still in way better shape than the 40 year old bias ply tires that were on it.

I got second place in the shooting contest with my Henry .22. First time I ever used it.
I slept in the bus with no heat. The boys got the tent. It only got down to 11 but I see a diesel heater in my future. My boots were frozen to the floor this morning.

Operation refresh well under way. Not going to restore this just getting her back on the road. 1954 chevy 4100 with 35,000 miles. It's really in great shape for its age. Needs a clutch and all the engine gaskets.  The transmission also leaks so it will get new gaskets also. We have a local shop with an expert on these old chevy engines so I'm just taking it to him. I will do the transmission gaskets myself.

Got home from Kentucky yesterday. Deer hunting was a bust. Didn't see one buck all Doe. Wife has Covid, 2 of the boys that went have the flu.

Mother-in-law had a fainting spell, so I spent most of the day in the hospital with her before they turned us loose. They found nothing wrong. She just happened to have another one while hooked to the monitor. The blood pressure monitor dropped to 56 over 36. They figure something with her heart may be causing it.

Faith Discussion / Re: Who has read the whole bible?
« on: November 20, 2023, 06:36:09 PM »
I was raised catholic and even went to a catholic school. I was an alter boy so often I had everything memorized. Countless hours of Bible study. I still don't think I got through it all. When I was long haul trucking I kept a Bible by my bed and would read some when I was laid over somewhere.  But now I haven't picked up the good book in years. I still pray nearly every day. I just don't read any book as much as I should.  I don't go to church anymore either. Too many hypocrites in our little church. My wife is Baptist. She has a hard time adjusting. I know for a fact she will go to her home church while we are down in KY this weekend.

Speaking of hypocrites I'm the scoutmaster and a scout is reverant. I serve as an example to the boys I am mentoring.  I really need to figure this out and find a new church sooner than later.

You say you get 100 round bales a year at $33  a bale? How big are the bales? I know hay prices vary greatly place to place but even Prarie hay and grass bales are $150 ish a ton.  It cost us $10 A bale to just hire someone to bale it. Large round bales weigh roughly 1,200 lbs.

They warmed them in the Dutch oven. They were actually a little crispy like McDonald's. Scoutmasters had grilled pork loin.

I tried out a new popcorn popper. Not exactly the end result I was expecting. No alcohol involved. This was a scout campout.

The whole pot caught fire. Maybe a little too much oil. The scouts did not witness this They were at one of their activities.

I have a little story for you guys see what you make of it.

Wednesday the boss come in the shop and said he found a skinned deer in the ditch by one of our fields.  Freshly skinned the cape over its head next to a neat gut pile and the feet were cut off. No meat was taken. I told him to call the sheriff.  Thursday morning the game warden comes out and looks at it. He pulls the cape back off the head and finds out it's not a deer itis a pig.  So, someone killed a pig, skinned it mostly gutted it and just took the feet. He didn't say if any of the organs were missing.

We are wondering who does that and why. Where did the pig come from. Nobody has reported missing any. It's just weird.

I didn't see it myself. The boss has never been hunting a day in his life so I can see how he would mistake a pig for deer.

Had a busy week. Threw a low-ball bid on a piece of equipment 350 miles away. Got it. Unbelievable. I bid $20,000 less than the price of the one I found near us. Had the great idea of just pulling it home. 6 tires and 3 days later we made it. The trip cost $2,700. So even with the headaches still saved a ton of money.

Spent the last week at Boy Scout camp. I decided I was just going to laze around and read books while the kids were out earning their merit badges. After about 2 days I was bored to tears so I started volunteering to help with classes. At the end of camp I was one of 4 scoutmasters to earn a camp specific scoutmaster merit badge.
I had scouts in everything from rifle shooting and archery to first aid
and learning about robotics and aquatics.
There were modern bathrooms and shower houses but for the most part it was a funnel over a pit.

The old bus made it the 1,100 miles or so out to the black hills and back. Ran great but I need to put a bigger tranny cooler on it. Flat land I was fine but it got pretty warm in the hills. Rained every day. We have a big tent so we could still have down time together and stay dry. It's the size of a GP medium.
The crazy horse monument was really impressive. Worth the money.
We all wore out scout shirts so we got in free everywhere but Mt Rushmore snd devils tower. That was a reduced rate.
The wildlife at Custer State Park was beautiful. The assault cows dont care. They come right up the cars.
The raccoons playing poker didn't come home with me. I misread the price. I thought it was $300. I missed a zero. 3 grand for that.
