Put an offer down on a piece of property in Troy, MT this morning. Wife accepted a job in Libby, MT last evening. Been moving personal stuff to storage all day. Tomorrow is last day to move a few things then clean the house. We close on sale of home Monday. Fifth wheel living for us for at least a couple weeks.

We’ve prayed profusely over this whole deal. We’ve left it in Gods hands to open doors and although it has been stressful at times he’s in control and everything is lining up.
I love your belief through faith that God is going to take care of this. Seems as though he has!

JR, it will once I get a shop built. So at least a year for axle assembly’s and I’ll keep selling my product line as I can do that from a two car garage.

Sorry, Ken but I’ll have some good whiskey if and when you get up there….. if you need a hand working on the property just give me a ring and I can swing down!

Nah. Air bnb. Kid came and stayed with us for a break from the dorm. But I’d have to ask the wife what we’re paying.

Copy, seems to be a very tight knit area. Should be much quieter…..

Well, as it always seems to be we had more stuff than I thought. We were on the road at 7 am to our fifth wheel to drop off clothes and things for a 3 week stay. It took us until around 5 to get house completely empty and clean it. Drove 40 mins back to rv to find once I hooked up water the pedestal was leaking profusely. So we packed up clothes and bathroom essentials then drove back to house to take showers. Now at 8:30 back at camper winding down. Close at 9am tomorrow……

How would they actually get on base? That would only cause a bunch of privates a whole lotta extra guard duty.

You don't want to do that job.
Getting to the up-pipe bolts is awful, just awful. Then you still have the EGR bricks, right?
Be prepared for a shock when you get the labor bill on that one.
I'd be willing to wager north of $4K (inc parts) for the job. Really, I want to say $5k. When the CP4A pump goes bad you're looking at 6K around here, and the turbo stays in place, and you can actually get to the bolts for all of that. Not true with a turbo.
If I could recommend something here. I wouldn't necessarily go with a stock configuration turbo, but with a pedestal mount and aftermarket, turbo to make removing it easier in the future. Fleece sold me my stuff and included a larger turbo which cut the EGT's down because of all the additional air it would flow.

Not sure on the age. LBZ and older isn’t “as bad” but still not fun if EGR there.
No fun any which way.

I hope Don misses by a bit but I’m guessing 2k for labor.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Had a joint campout with the cub scouts and their families. Everyone had fun. Even Jasper after he fell in the sand bur patch. The Boy Scout troop made breakfast for everyone. We served 40 people. The main thing is the parents got to get a look at how we do things when the boys get older. Many parents were in scouts as kids and I look forward to working with them in the future. We may be a small troop but it looks like we will be going strong for the foreseeable future.
I didn't get a picture of breakfast but this is a hunk of an 8 lb pot roast. Cooked in the new Dutch oven I purchased with some.of your donations.

Tore down the hundred year old barn by my house. Leveled it out and put the garage I got earlier this year there. Next this old building is going away. This was our old shop until about 12 years ago. The building is wind damaged so it's got to go to make room for a new storage building that will go in its place. The 54 Chevy will be pulled out and hopefully back on the road by spring. It's been sitting there since 02 or 03.

That is sweet. I was wrong on the date. Last plated in 06. It has 35,000 miles on it. Mice got in the clutch and made a nest. Gotta pull the trans out. While I'm at it going to pull the engine and replace all the gaskets and overhaul the carb.

All the action is happening while the boys are at school. Zane is not happy about that. Today the grain bin behind the shed went down. Tomorrow the shed goes. The concrete guys are wanting to get going on the new building.

Jon, if you are taking any more old buildings down, might check around on what old barn wood is worth. Some people pay crazy prices for it. Some people use paint or paper on interior walls, others cover with old wood.

So I haven’t posted about this here but a week ago last Monday some oxygen thief stole my denali from my driveway in the ever increasingly rat hole of Houston

Near as I can tell it was a group of professionals targeting the airport parking.  Probably pulled my VIN off the dash and paid someone at a dealer to cut a key and then used a code scanner to grab the remote when I locked it or unlocked it and the night after I got back from MO they pulled up unlocked it and used the key to drive off.  Immediately disconnected the on star tracking. No sign of it on satellite.

So 2018 with 50k miles. Paid for. Now I’m back in the market. I had not planned on buying anything for the next 10 years but here I am.

Have to wait 30 days to have it declared a total loss.

In the mean time I get to drive this while I try to figure out what to get next.

I’ve looked at the model Y. The Yukon Denali, the Lexus LX600 the Escalade or another 1500 denali and a 2500 HD

Not sure yet but I think I’ve ruled out the Tesla since I need a backup tow vehicle. The wife’s  Lexus won’t cut it and neither will the minivan

The Yukon I like and it can tow 7700. Questioning whether I should get the XL or the short one

If I get another HD then I don’t need the Bus but I love my non emission 21 year old truck with no gizmos.

1500s are so stupid expensive that I’d just get an HD

The SUVs are going for stupid money over sticker so I may have to wait a few months.

Prices will come down with car loans at 6-7%. Just a matter of time.

RIP the “marshmallow”

You would think this would be an audited query on the database either st the dealership or on the GM system. They should be able to pull a listing of anyone that pulls the vehicle key code , that shouldn’t be an easily accessible item I would think for just this reason.   But then again, I’m used to military and financial networks.  There’s probably a class action there somewhere for neglect or something on their part when it would be easy enough to secure/audit that one data item and track down the persons responsible.  But I’m not a lawyer, that’s just me.

Concur with your logic. First, no, do not get the Model Y and expect it to do anything other than light/short towing. As for the Yukon, personally, I'd go long. Hard to add space should you use it, and you're not buying a performance vehicle anyway. Good choice if you go 2500HD, but get a 3500Hd instead, just in case and all that you get, really is the overload spring. I say that because I have been looking at adding the stock Go 3500HD overload spring to my 2500 and it's hard-impossible.
Tough call getting rid of the 01. Personally, I'd keep it. You can work on it and keep it going forever. Not so much on a new LP5 D-max. No working on that engine, and no tuning it either speaking in practical terms. Just keep it regardless of if you get a new HD or not.
I kept my Surburban after the Tesla purchase, although Kat wanted me to ditch it. But I drove it the other day to the farm, and it was fun. It is completely disposable or even a loaner, extra vehicle/part-time mouse home. If you showed up for a visit, I'd toss you the keys...stuff like that.

Just a thought, I’m an Alcan spring dealer. They build the springs to your specifications. Made from USA steel from the only mill in the USA still making spring steel. Small family owned business.

Went and had new shoes put on the F250 this morning in anticipation of the move northward starting in a week from today.

These are the Cooper Discoverer rugged trek which is their newest version in oem stock size.

Ordered these in a month or so ago and now had 25k on stock tires w/ 1/4” or more tread left on old ones it was time to get them swapped out. These have extra siping to supposedly quiet them down. All my old ears hear is the diesel anyhow so…..

In Colorado you need 1/4” or more tread not too get fined by DOT driving mountain roads in adverse winter conditions so the local immigrant population normally buys these take offs for several hundred from me offsetting new tire cost.

Jon, if you are taking any more old buildings down, might check around on what old barn wood is worth. Some people pay crazy prices for it. Some people use paint or paper on interior walls, others cover with old wood.

Not so much around here. I did find one person interested in some old barn wood. She wanted me to remove it for her and deliver it to her for free.

That sucks Tex. I had a vehicle stolen years ago. Caught them and they made it right, but it still ticks me off to this day. I had a 67 chevy long box. They only rust was on the rockers. 327 with a 4 speed. I found it cut to pieces with engine gone. I later found the engine in a mechanic shop. They guy turned white as a ghost when I informed him it was mine. Problem was when I put it in, I didn't write down any identification numbers. No proof.

Sucks Charles. BTW my Tahoe came from TX. Maybe locking without FOB would be better, but when they really want something, well you know.
