I have the Ridge Grapplers on my Dmax in 295/55R20. I love them so far. No problems with traction on wet or dry roads and have done well so far in what little mud they have been in so far. Pulling into deer lease with 24' gooseneck and a muddy road use to require 4 wheel drive and conservative path selection. This last trip out when we arrived it was muddy and I never put the truck in 4x4 and never even had a tire slip even while trying to turn the trailer around.

I can't speak for the longevity as I only have 6k on them so far if that, but what from what I can tell they appear that they will last awhile.

Ken....I would agree, the Grabber Mt's are rather aggressive if all your doing is hard packed surfaces. TRN  would be the guy to ask about 4x4 slicks.

Tator, you have any experience with the newer Toyo open country C/T versions? I should've just bought the Grabbers while I had it figured out, now I'm looking at all different kinds again.

https://www.toyotires.com/tire/pattern/off-road-tires-open-country-ct

Only that they're supposed to be a newer replacement for the M55 which Sam and I have a crush on.

I do have a set with 60k on them...and may try for more.

Other than the limited sizes they come in...I like em.
Now I may have to look at these as they are having trouble sometimes when I need new rubber.

Sorry Ken, you’ll beat me to them.
I am looking at a set of ‘Rockproof’ by Nokian or some sort of company.
Have even less siping than the M55’s.

Packing for an overnight with the scouts in Tahoe. Supposed to be at least 2ft of snow on the ground. I'm not roughing it, will sleep in the DMax.

Spent all day in the fog searching for groceries on the hoof. Unsuccessful, but I gave the Kawasaki a good workout. Finally found a spot that required the front diff lock. That hill behind the machine drops off into a valley that had seen nothing but log skidders in over a year.

I think that’s the color we are going to use.  The other option would be use two colors   I’ll have to make some sample boards to give a few ideas to toss around

Working on the garage/shop.

Sure is nice working in 55' shop while it is cold outside.

Shot of heater install. They did a good job.

Then put some heavy shelving above the garage doors.

Unloaded the 22 sheets of Baltic Birch 3/4" plywood I picked up Friday for the cabinets I want to build.

Will work on smaller cabinet we had and then start on shelving so we can start unloading container.

Nice! Making progress there.

I’m sending this from the seacan where I got my wifi access point connected today along with security cameras in the guest house and seacan. Now that all 3 WiFi access points are cloned and meshed I should have good access everywhere I go, except maybe the metal shop which doesn’t have its own access point.

Will get the remaining cameras ordered and installed in the next week or two

I went to the local new cars I can’t afford show today, notes by a friend about GMC new fancy old man tailgate.  It looks super helpful, super expensive to repair and just begging to be filled with ice and not function
The major glaring issue noted you CAN NOT HAVE A HITCH INSTALLED TO USE THE GATE!!!

I never remove mine from the truck

I saw that gate, crazy. Lets just get a lift gate and be done!

Came back from snow camping with the boys, I am beat. Had to haul everything from the overflow lot (maint yard) to the camp and back.

Then they wanted to build Igloo's, but with fresh snow. Everyone jumped other builds, so I helped my oldest. After 7 layers we ate diner. Came back at 1930 and finished it, was midnight! Came out great though. His first and mine.

No, it was to late to have it checked for soundness. It was solid and you could really feel the dif in the air temp inside it. I understand it will stay 50 with just a candle and a body in there.

We are watching the eclipse now, cool when the clouds let us see it.

A week or so ago I sold my old Craftsman 3hp large table saw. It was always in the way and I didin't use it very often. I got $300 for it so I was happy.

Then I purchases this Milwaukee cordless table saw with extra battery. They are some big honking batteries. I would watch them on a driver. I unboxed the stand and saw and put them together. I thought I was going to have to pull  out an Ikea manual to put the stand together.... geez.. sometimes I am amazed at my inability to conceptualize a piece put together.

Anyway.. very nice saw. Love the fence. Couldn't figure the storage option for the kickback grippers.. but that's ok. I'll probably toss them anyway.

Runs smooth. Seems very accurate once all dialed in. Time will tell. From other reviews they say the battery will run all day. I doubt I will put it through that many board feet. Just nice to be mobile.

I spent my 9 hour day in the spray booth watching lacquer dry and spraying more.  Two coats of sanding sealer and two coats of lacquer seem to be a happy medium for quality finish and not to time consuming.

After weeks of fighting pressure on my regulators and water from our air compressor I think I have it licked!!

I’ll take photos tomorrow but we plumbed low spots into our PEX air hoses and drain valves, at each air driven tool location we added the Housley water separators to each Quick connect

Now we drain the line in use for our spray guns before we spray and eliminate lots and lots of sanding as water and lacquer don’t play nice

Sent my first Suburban bumper down the rode today.  Got the truck in around 7:00 Friday night, worked until 1:00 both Friday and Saturday night and 9:00 Sunday to get it in paint so I could do an install before they came to pick it up this afternoon.  First hick-up in the process was at about 7:01 Friday night when I actually looked at it and realized that the grille was built into the bumper shell.  The curve balls kept coming one after another the rest of the weekend.  Usually just do a test fit, put the stock bumper on and send them home to come back a week later to pick up the finished product.  But the kid had a 6 hour drive one way to bring me his vehicle from school (currently in college) so I told him I would do everything I could to have it finished and installed when he came to pick his vehicle up.  Then I kind of committed to that Saturday evening when I hacked his bumper up to get the grille out of it.  All-in-all it turned out pretty good.  I wouldn't say I had to cut corners to get it done and ready but some things were not as cleaned up/ refined as my work normally is.  Also hoping that the paint holds up well, this stuff is dry to the touch in after several hours but not fully cured for several days. I normally like to wait atleast 48 hours after paint.  This one had about 18 hours from painted to installed.

Looks good. Almost thought it was Don's rig for 2 seconds.

Still kinda thinking of one for the new burb it just seems so easy with square lines, but you never know?

Is there a simple way to reinforce these "shells" so they don't just fold in with a little bump? I mean the centers are tuff as rocks, but outside the mounts it seems they would just fold over?

I have an old ruenel for the back and a winch ready for the front but that crosses my mind all the time and I need to get them on.

Our lacquer and sealer set up

Still need to build a lid with hydraulic lifts like on a truck shell window and cover them up, keep dust out of the pumps. But otherwise they function perfect

Ran to electrical supply house for 2’ of 3/4” alum flex conduit (whopping $1.95) because HD and Lowe’s want to sell nothing less than 25 or 50’ roll....

So then it was back to more wiring. About half the shop is wired now.
Living in the remote north hoping Ken doesn’t bring H up here any time soon…..

Finally moving this termite and bee infested service pole out of the middle of my driveway at work. Hard to tell but it's leaning towards the camera quite a bit. Previous owners had placed a pole about 50 feet away but still 100 feet from the shop. I dug it up and moved it straight across from the panel in the shop.
It's not very straight but at least it's not rotten.

The pusher axle on my Pete was jerking back and forth shaking the whole truck going down the road. Turns out the bolts came loose on the arms and the holes egg shaped. They don't make this style anymore so there are no parts available. A new pusher cost $8,000.
So I found some steel the same thickness and made plates to weld on. Punched holes and shaped them to fit. Put new bolts in and tighten them down. Then since I'm a really crappy welder my brother welded them in for me. Dang bolts are expensive. 3/4 inch grade 8 fine thread cost $15 apiece. It's still way cheaper than 8K for a new axle. It seems to work well and should last for a long time.
