Cooking for 15 is the norm around here. 20 is also a common occurrence. We have 9 kids, my wife's best friend and adopted daughter, plus in-laws and friends of ours and friends of kids... We are like the local community center. Nobody leaves without a full belly, a warm heart, and utterly annoyed by the background noise from 9 kids and their friends! ;)

I hope they still come around when we move out of town!

Oven cooked bacon-
Place on parchment paper lined pan into a cold oven set to 400. Pull out when approprately crispy to your taste...

I'm not gonna lie, I ate the whole pan and the oatmeal. Bacon, it's the Chuck Norris of the food group! And it only counts as a serving of it makes it to the table. (Standing at counter eating, scrolling RMTWS)

So had my first freak out moment on the job site the other day. Called my general HOT and PISSED.... The knuckle dragging undocumented immigrants who stocked my roof with shingles stacked all of them right in the center of the damn roof. Thousands of pounds of shingles! Bunch of freaking tools! Luckily, no damage ensued and my framed is really as good as he claims. The supply house was back out there at 1900 to remedy their cranial flatulence.

Secondary to that, went to the appliance house- bought a car... No wait just the kitchen appliances-

Add a fridge, dishwasher, trash compactor and ice maker to all that and my construction account cringed proportionately to the sparkle in momma a eyes.....

Ah... PLDC? That was my first opportunity to lead women.... Eye opener... I've worked with some pretty hardcore females that I would take into a gunfight with me any day... None of them were in the army though. Lots of drama and BS and minding your p's and q's... It was unfortunate. We lost a couple of really good joes at a CLS course because some girls dropped sexual harassment complaints on them for "shop talk"... Wasn't even directed at the complainants, they were just in ear shot....

Just DOT'd my own thread... How does that work?

Did you have to deal with the stupid games in the academy HC?

My academy was very gentlemanly. We were expected to render courtesies to civilians and certified officers, we had uniform and room inspects, subject to lock down or grounds maintenance as punishment. But only a few instructors (former military guys) would put a guy in the front leaning rest from time to time but that was all. Many academies differ though. Ours was a state run academy and honestly it was more mentally challenging and there wasn't a lot of time to play stupid human games. They had to cram a lot of knowledge into us in 560 hours.

At infantry OSUT we had to carry a sandbag with us for the first three weeks of training prior to being issued our rifles. We were encouraged to name the bag, (mine was sandy, clever eh?) being the oldest of the group, I was the platoon guide for the majority of my time at Benning. When we finished the first phase of training, DS Sillman advised us we could leave our sandbags in the barracks, if we wanted, for PT the next morning. I encouraged/downright ordered the knuckleheads to bring their sandbags to the CTA, because basic training was not at all about anything us pukes "wanted" and the DS' leniency in this matter was a test.

However my assistant PG, and his expertise from JROTC disagreed and mounted a considerable force against me which was down right mutinous. Being that we all had to be the same, and many days of punishment had fallen upon us previously in the event one of us had failed to wear glove liners during a prior PT session, I conceded to their belief the DS had overnight became a reasonable individual. However, I stipulated, in the event I was right, the chili Mac MRE's and all jalapeño cheese products would be mine, all mine... for the remainder of our time together.

Upon returning to the bay after a long morale run we found the missing drill sergeant eating a pop tart on top of a pile of all of our issued gear buried in 56, 60 lb bags of opened sand.

The next order of business was to dig out our heavy sleeping bag, the black one with the hood on it, and our gas masks. We adorned our gas masks and zipped up inside our sleeping bags, pulled the hood down tight and DS introduced us to what he called the NBC (nuc/bio contaminate) Caterpillar. For the next several hours, we missed training and traveled like a caterpillar, from one end of the bay to the other, over the pile, under the bunks etc... Back and forth back and forth until Mengerhausen almost aspirated on his own vomit inside his mask and the CO who was otherwise entertained, called it off...

Myself, I couldn't help but smile inside my mask every time I made eye contact with an individual who would potentially be forced upon my omelette MRE while I enjoyed their chili Mac with crushed cracker and jalapeño cheese product mixed inside.... After all to the victor goes the spoils.

Alas they knew from this day forward I was far wiser than they expected!

I have recently been turned on to geocaching. The concept of the operation is to find hidden caches throughout a certain AO utilizing a GPS. Certain caches only contain a log, while others contain little treasures. You retrieve a treasure and leave one. Check it out! They are EVERYWHERE! And it's a great way to get the kids out and about "unplugged" and situationally aware.

Still have to frame up the front porch and the roofs for those and the back deck.

Thinks for the comment on the lines. I actually rendered the house myself a la pencil and sketch pad. A friend of ours plugged it in to his cad. And made it right.... I can't believe people used to draw these plans with ink and rulers... There is so much to think about and even via computer things still don't come out quite right!!

Vortex is putting out some quality stuff these days... I used to hate on the nikons but I think they are pretty solid anymore as well. I love their caliber specific scopes. I recently converted my 16" gun to a 1-4 variable power vortex so I have a P-223 Nikon with rings I'll sell you... 3-9. It's in perfect condition.

Then there is always leupold which you can't beat with a stick... Any of those will prolly suit your purposes just fine but if you want a real scope with a real price tag... Nightforce NXS

The PT belt is an inside joke for lack of a better term. Basically a reflective pt belt, according to most commanders, is a mitigation to everything from herpes to friendly fire or IED's. The pt belt giving a safety brief is comedic irony. In the army, leaders are tasked with developing a composite risk assessment matrix for everything we do. Even to go on leave requires direction on how to come back safe and unscathed from your venture into the scary real world. I guess it's just one of those things you had to be a part of to really "get"... Like "blue Falcons" and "good idea fairies" "E4 mafias" etc...

lengthy but enlightening (just breathe and read)
http://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/mccain-and-the-pow-cover-up/

There is so much evidence discrediting McCain's "war hero" status... Trumps comment on the subject had no bearing for me. McCain is a prime example of where we have failed ourselves (as Americans) when we cast our votes. Too much credit is placed on an individuals service to our country (stop looking at me like that). As a veteran myself, honestly, I think it should be a requirement you have served in the armed forces to be eligible for election. Whether as a cook or a grunt or in Intelligence is irrelevant, an individual who served in whatever capacity *honorably*, has shown he/she voluntarily took up arms in defense of our nation and ought to be granted a shot at doing the same as a law maker. Veterans, generally speaking, are more service oriented, less selfish people...

THAT is never gonna happen! Without further digression, I'll get to my point at hand. When an individual proves he is not a worthy lawmaker, we need to fire his ass without feeling sorry because he's a veteran, "War Hero". HERE's the deal... "I appreciate your service to our country in your armed forces capacity, however as a law maker, I personally give you no merit. Goodbye!" Sometimes as Americans our Patriotism is our worst enemy. I want fantastic law makers who abide by the will of their constituents. Even if I don't agree with them, I can still respect them. McCain, sirs, is not that and I have ZERO respect for him as a lawmaker, no matter his status. He's rode that train long enough.

Trump has made every decision from a businessman's standpoint not a politicians. All of our views change. He donated to the Clintons and the Clintons thusly made him a lot of money and in return he helped a lot of people a little bit of money, in the form of jobs and such. He is however unabashed to come clean on this. Establishment republicans are destroying our country, not the democrats. Our nation has evolved. I am sorry to say it, but as long as we cast our votes based on the politicians stance on social issues ( ie abortion, gay marriage, dope legalization yada yada yada) we as like minded *conservatives* will continue to lose. There are too many people who will turn out to vote in droves on the government's payroll in one form or another.

The two party system is caput. Our nation is too diverse. Our federal gov is too big. I have always said, what is right in California, aint right in Arizona. If we continue to vote federally based on social issues to which THEY SHOULD HAVE NO SAY on a state level, our version of the American dream is dead and the progressive "change" is realized. Keep their progressive bull crap in their metropolis' and let them fall like Rome. Give us all the opportunity to live as the majority sees fit. I don't care if it takes re-structuring the map geopolitically.

Yeah we have had some of those similar issues with the girls as well. Their Father is US Army...Mr 5 tours in Iraq, probably the largest jack ass I have ever met. He often uses his Veteran status and Mil rank to try and excuse his poor skills as a human.

About 5 years ago he was running his mouth at Christmas and I told him politely to shush or he could leave. He then declared I wasn't going to show a battle hardened Army elite how to act. So my wife pipes up that she would like him to leave before the girls see him get hurt. He pushed her into the china hutch and I decided then and there the girls needed to understand about life, enough of this.

I called 911 declared we needed a ambulance for a domestic disturbance and hung up. In the end the girls came with Mom and bailed me out of jail. I paid his medical bills, and he now calls me sir. The kids, I was so worried about seemed to just accept he's a idiot but he's growing up a little now and well...it seems to have worked out. I do not however recommend this approach BTW.

this is why we cant have nice things... china hutch ok??

Meant to reply to this- here's his truck. It's the truck I drove him home from the hospital in, so it's only fitting.
87' Chevrolet 350TBI/400t

I paid dearly to regain possession of this dude in my divorce from the practice wife! She runs and drives out good. Bottom end is still factory- redid the heads circa 2002 or so. Plans are to re-finish the interior to work truck trim level and sand blast and paint the exterior. Prolly just hit the frame with rust converter and under carriage coating... Not going to go too full blown on it just for him to tear it up again! I restored it once in 00'. It held up pretty good. The clock showed 7k on it when I bought it and re-did it. I rolled the clock twice while I drive it- so it has at least 300k miles on it...

When more electricity enters the body than it can absorb it exits, microwaving you from the inside out. Really a horrible sight. I've unfortunately seen a few electrocution deaths and they are by far the worst. I've heard before from electricians they would rather take a blast from 220 than get locked up by 110. I guess a 110 circuit will hang on to you until it trips, where as a 220 will knock you away. I'm not sure what Sergio got in to. My general said he was tampering with a transformer some way.

Not enough time in hand for full blown review but for an imported light I would put it in the Toyota category as opposed to Kia...  It sure lights up a scene! Ask my kids, wife, dogs, cats and deer how disorienting it is to take a blast to the face! On strobe it is almost nauseating!

It will run on 123 batteries as well as the rechargeable battery it comes with. Charges via any USB outlet! My Eton radio will charge it as well as my laptop, my home computer, cell phone charger, battery jumper box, and my solar mat...

I look for maids all the time! Mama always says no unless she can pick the gardeners and the pool boy... Lol

Actually brother, we all have jobs to do from me down to the four year old. We don't always have the neatest home but it's always clean.

This is a pretty big home, but a few of the rooms are double booked. Not really much excess. We want it to look nice, but not take your breath away.

My wife spent a lot of years in school and training and works really hard for the money she makes. I've put my butt on the line for a lot of people over the years in support of their American Dream both as a grunt and a contractor and a police officer. I put a chunk of change away living on Top Ramen and pork n beans for my own American Dream and by golly it's time we start capitalizing on it. *Hopefully* we get to enjoy it a good long while before the SHTF...
