Yeah we’ve had the trailer 3 years, figured it was time.

Also discovered one of the tires (OEM chinabombs) has the beginning of a bubble in the middle of the tread. :(

nothing like some good ol bare minimum load rating to spice up your afternoon. Glad you found it before you got to watch the trailer twerking down the hwy.

Wife shares cool things from FFB marketplace, was just down the street from the house so we ran over and picked it up. Paid $50 for it, probably too much, but runs like a champ.

Yea, once you turn it off it goes for a while. I like old metal, so I figured this would fit that category. Certainly is a useful tool, wish I had it while we’re in the midst of the 74 build. Will serve a great purpose when the next build begins!

The old bus made it the 1,100 miles or so out to the black hills and back. Ran great but I need to put a bigger tranny cooler on it. Flat land I was fine but it got pretty warm in the hills. Rained every day. We have a big tent so we could still have down time together and stay dry. It's the size of a GP medium.
The crazy horse monument was really impressive. Worth the money.
We all wore out scout shirts so we got in free everywhere but Mt Rushmore snd devils tower. That was a reduced rate.
The wildlife at Custer State Park was beautiful. The assault cows dont care. They come right up the cars.
The raccoons playing poker didn't come home with me. I misread the price. I thought it was $300. I missed a zero. 3 grand for that.

Found out last night that we are scheduled to be grandparents again in Feb 24. Kind of worried this is mom's first child and it is considered geriatric pregnancy

At what age is it considered a geriatric pregnancy?

Kat was 36 delivering our youngest.

I would say he is/was fine, but, well, he joined the Infantry, so I guess there were some mental issues present that he never outgrew!

They now say that 35 and older is geriatric for pregnancies. Daughter inlaw will be 40 when she gives birth and it is her first pregnancy

Having a better half who has been over an OB on several occasions just don’t do the home birth method or out of hospital method. Do your due diligence in finding a great facility to deliver with good results and a capable nicu should the need arrive that you need those services.

We have medicine and highly trained staff in many facilities, this isn’t the early 1900’s. If things do go sideways then being at the right place with the right people can make all the difference of the outcome.

While I agree with your sentiment about medicine and highly trained staff as a general rule, why is pregnancy treated as a short term disease instead of a natural process that the female body is designed to handle?  We have done hospital vaginal births, c-sections, and two vaginal births after c-section at the hospital, one vbac in the hospital parking lot and 6 home births attended by a midwife. The experience and comfort level of a home irth compared to hospital dealing with ll the people and a strange environment are night and day. Being able to lay down with my wife and our new child in our own bed within an hour of their births was a priceless experience.

I get that everyone and everyone’s circumstances are different, and some people have risk factors that would make an attended hospital birth the best option, however, I think that making a wholesale declaration that anything other than a board certified OB attended “operation” is unsafe or I’ll advised rubs me the wrong way.  Yes, you need to plan for the possibility of complications and be aware of any risks, but it is a viable option for some people.

Sorry, getting off my soapbox now.

You’re right, I only hear the side of it where the child doesn’t survive (never heard a first hand where the mother didn’t for the record although I’m sure it happens too.)

With that stated I doubt the ones w/ newborns that didn’t survive thought there would be issues? Why would they choose that option? I don’t get it if they do frankly. It would be like driving 100+ mph on bald tires that have multiple plugs. I’m sure it’s been done though just not something I’d try.

To each their own, it’s personal choices. All I did was advocate to do your homework.

Spent the last week at Boy Scout camp. I decided I was just going to laze around and read books while the kids were out earning their merit badges. After about 2 days I was bored to tears so I started volunteering to help with classes. At the end of camp I was one of 4 scoutmasters to earn a camp specific scoutmaster merit badge.
I had scouts in everything from rifle shooting and archery to first aid
and learning about robotics and aquatics.
There were modern bathrooms and shower houses but for the most part it was a funnel over a pit.

I got in on the rifle shooting. Two 5 round clips and 2 targets. No break in-between. I cant blame this on the rifle. I naturally pull to the left for some reason. I had to adjust my personal rifle to compensate.

Iv made the mistake of catching my boot with a weed eater and that was smarts but cutting through the boot with a hoe is pretty good

I guess they were using a sharpened ice scraper similar to the picture.  Idea being you cut away from yourself as you are walking through the field. This was a case of operator error.

Youngest and I went to Ice House Reservoir couple days ago. Water all the way up, about 2 hours from here. Really nice drive, weather was perfect vs the low 100s down here.

This is the headwaters, known as Strawberry point and a little of the lake.

Water was running fast and high but not super cold. We hiked up to some larger pools to pan a little and fish.

After a little hiking, I see him in the water near some slickrock. He had slipped in the pool above, slid down a runoff (looked like a fun ride actually) and was stuck about waist deep. Right below was a bigger pool and not a fun ride. Realizing he was stuck, I tried to get to him and almost went in myself. Took me about 20 minutes to get to him going up and around (I was dying, out of shape and 5k ft in altitude)

He could not climb out (steep) and I thought about getting help but saw his pack was on my side. He had 50ft of para cord in there. I doubled it up, looped both ends and tied a wet rag to it so I could throw it. I was on slick rock still, but layed next to a crack to hold on. I pulled as he balanced on a underwater edge across the swift water, was interesting for sure. If he had gone over the next fall had a good drop into big pool.

He kept hiking up to the larger falls, I just rested.

Then we saw this on the way home. Makes news all the time when 1000s of Bats come out from under the Yolo Causeway on 80. This was a small flock of what was many.

It was nice and we are going back up. I need a fishing lic though, the lake has great trout fishing. 16in or better is the norm.

This week though I need to get my other solar panels up. Just got my true-up estimate, $2400. More than double last year!

I hope the fun is not supposed to happen in LA. Homeless have taken over the streets. I even hate going to DLand now as you have to ride shuttles to get there.

Not to put you down but have fun but be careful..
