Title: Parts washer?
Post by: JR on April 16, 2021, 05:36:11 PM
To anyone, but hoping Shawn or Ken have an idea here.

Looking for a self agitating parts washer. I have the normal tub, but the old shop I worked in had a air powered washer in a 5gal bucket.

Something bigger is fine too, but the really big ones I see are engine block size, need 3ph and are still 1K used!

????

Mine is an older GM service shop unit. Style that sits on top of a drum.

Being that’s it’s GM it’s always having some sort of issue......

Edit: on another related note. A buddy of mine had a contract with Dana to clean cosmoline off of axle tubing blanks. Dana would literally bring semi truckloads of  DOM tubing to his shop in bundles. He had a chemist mix up a special solution to strip the cosmoline off and out of the tubes. So what he did was rig up an overhead hoist and he’d lower the bunks of tube into these tanks which were heated. The problem was that the solution needed to be agitated to speed up the process. So he set up trolling motors to agitate the solution. No joke and it worked really well.

weird, just found a nice standup for $500. 220/1 they are seeing if it runs, been sitting.

Not sure if heater works but the price is fair.

Parts washer? You mean to tell me there is an alternative to a 5 gallon bucket half full of gas and wire brush?

I use more diesel than gas. I got a wash tub from TSC on wheels, works great with their "1000" fluid.
