With concrete poured I ordered 4.5 loads of top soil, 55 yards or so..   the only thing I asked the stupid truck drive to not hit was... hit.

He also ignored where I told him to dump the loads into the yard,   Two stack on top if each other was not spread out,   So more tractor work.

Front yard is spread as of 11pm.  Tomorrow the back yard

Just scrolled through your whole build thread, brings back lots of memories of our build!

Be glad your were as involved and knowledgeable as you were/are. I was pretty ignorant during our build, and we’re paying the price for it now. Corners cut and plan deviations have resulted in a major lawsuit, and it all could/should have been avoided if done right the first time.

Your place looks great, especially love the garage and some of your specific finishes like the stained glass pendants and mud room hooks. Very custom.

I sure do like my pendants in the kitchen,  every house we build gets “seeded glass” everything and I am so sick of it.

Thanks for the compliments.  Even though I was here for the entire build I still find things that chap my ass.

I’ll take a photo of my master bath as of tonight

Got the yard all leveled out and grated.    Smooth as a baby’s bottom.

55 yards spread.

Turned on the sprinklers tonight and have good water pressure finally.    Time to screw on the heads and cover them up with dirt.

We have hills.  I just chose not to build next to one,  those usually come with boulders that take explosives to break up.    No desire for that in my life

I’ll dig up a photo

This house was on the east side of the freeway. Amazing view but the rock wall is  from rocks pulled from foundation hole

Looks good, close enough to see and maybe block the worst storms.

I'm going to use that expanding mortar for what rocks I can't break up.

Picked up the beam post today, she’s a little large.   It’s about all I can do to pick it up,
6x6 post. 1/4 inch thick and a strap at the top to mount to the beam.    Now to get the fork lift home to set the beam since I have to go straight up.

Yes sir,
Introducing 16 1/4 x 5” beam 27’ long.   I should end up with about 350 sq feet of overhead storage and clear a little more floor space for the yoga studio I’m building to capitalize on all the commie California moms moving in lol

Ok beam post has been sanded, etching primered and sprayed flat black

I have marked the floor where it has to go based on my beam that I can’t stretch 4” to the side

Is the pad thick enough to handle the weight? No way it can be on the wall? A longer beam would sure unclutter that stair.

Jr. We poured the slab about 5 inches thick, it should hold the additional weight easy enough

The beam is way overkill but for $100 bucks I went with it.

My logic with which side of the stair is.   As you walk down you would have to avoid the post to get to a car,  on the left side I keep the extra fridge ( secondary power source plug) and the fridge is going to be there anyway

Must be nice to have people helping you with big beams.....

Remember when he was building the house?  Talking about how big the garage was?

Now we have George Carlin. Stuff expands to fit all available space....

Any plans to change the door opener to give you more space?
