Anyone else done with the NFL?

I haven’t watched a single NFL football game ever since that bozo out west started kneeling in protest of our national anthem or America’s values or whatever fool of an idea the overpaid sports actor was against. Our vice president walked out of a game when players, who are really just entertainers knelt in protest to our national anthem, and in doing so telegraphed to me the true patriotism of the man.
I used to love watching the games. I spent a little over five years in Iraq and Afghanistan and during game day, I would proudly wear an old beat up Bengals hoodie. Yea, my team doesn’t do all that well in season plays, but nevertheless, I supported them.
I sometimes wore that thing beneath my flight suit and flew actual missions with it on. I was just honoring what my team was doing while I flew sorties in support of our brave warriors during some raid, or while they drove in a convoy or whatever. I even watched a game or two while listening to a buddy heckle me about how this “American” football was for wussies. He, by the way had been a South African Special Forces Sergeant Major, Rugby player, who bested me by thirty odd pounds and maybe two inches. I chose my battles with that man carefully ;-)
But then this wholly American football institution suddenly turned political. And not in support of brave American warriors who were fighting two to three wars at a time, but to suggest this country is prejudicial. First off, America is the most color blind country I have ever been to, and I have been to a lot of places. Sure you will find an instance here and there pointing to some prejudice but overall we are as balanced a society as one can be.
What turned me off was that the NFL commissioner did not crush this protest thing, but gave in to the growing number of players who wanted to taint the game with some personal statement of racial injustice. Really? I mean from those million dollar homes in Edgewood and Bel Air, how could you see two feet past your lavish lifestyle? You couldn’t, and that’s a fact. It seems to me the very people who were taking a knee actually had privilege and advantage over everyone else. They were propped up by a weak culture who worship celebrities over real heroes, and I guess that some of these overpaid actors have come to believe they really are better than the average person.
The NFL has not squashed this movement of protest but seems to be giving in to it. Could the Cowboys place the name of three police officers killed during rioting on their helmets to honor them? Nope, the league said it makes a statement and the NFL can’t support that. So what message did the NFL make by not allowing these men to be honored? That they are against the police?
But now we see that same NFL wanting to place the name of someone killed by police on the helmets of some team. OK, whatever, but why were the names of police officers not suitable to be paid tribute to, and this slain person is somehow worthy? I think it is pandering to these psychos who obviously hate America. The funny thing about all that is that these protesters are probably not buying season tickets to watch their local team, but a lot of police do. Police officers and military folks killed in the act of defending our nation are the true heroes and no amount of protest or pandering by NFL Officials to make a buck is ever going to change that.
You know God only sees the truth. He sees the true intent and he gave us the ability to do the same thing. The only truth I see is of an NFL who will bow to anyone with any message including an un-American one simply to keep the money flowing. And I for one will have nothing to do with it.
Have you heard that one of the NFL’s solutions to this problem is to replace the playing of the national anthem with “An alternate anthem?” Do you know what an alternate anthem is? Or what it is? In all my years, I have only known one national anthem, and that’s called the Star Spangled Banner. God bless the USA is a great song and America the beautiful is in most of our hearts, but they are not anthems. The banner is and if we move away from that then we move away from foundational national values.
Perhaps the NFL needs to melt down from loss of revenue so that something new can rise out of its ashes. I do know that I will not support any organization that I learn does not support our nation, period!
God Bless America! God Bless our Police, our military, our president, and our everyday patriots.

Aside from some lesser sports such as hockey and maybe golf I think professional sports may be done...... & I’m ok with that!

I stopped watching long time ago. Right after the kneeling started and not stopped. Now I could care less if the whole program goes broke.

No but the combine demo derby should be!
One of the best first dates wife and I had I was running pits in a derby...... nothing like welding, tire smoke, gas fumes and carnage to set a relationship in the right direction!

That’s awesome. My wife only went to the alcohol super stock race once when I was running the pits. She never went back

Who is telling these people we want to hear about this stuff at all? Same ones who want socialism?

mass media works the crowds. most of America watch some sort of professional sports, and it's the best time to reach your captive audience. look at the money spent on superbowl commercials. we don't want to hear about it, but they want us to.

I never watched much pro ball. I prefer collage. We ue to watch the super bowl for the commercials but havent been too interested in that lately either.
