I have a TSC close and have been looking to, but heard the "who makes it stories".

Any recommendations or stay aways??

Absolutely!

Take a look at these Eaton's.
Matt is the owner and his family runs the operation.
Think about it, I just purchased a V4 as in 4 cylinder compressor with a 7.5HP Lincoln motor, all American made, truck freighted to my door for a bit over $1800.
He has them on sale at the moment, so that price won't last. I priced Ingersoll/Rand units far less capable for $2100-$2500 with $400ish shipping tacked onto that number.
The Eaton is warranted for 5 years. Uses an iron compressor, runs at a paltry 600 rpm vs. everyone else's 3450 RPM.
I think Matt arguably has the best compressor for the money in the country.

Their phone number is: 937 540-1140
The one I purchased is the 7.5HP 220V single phase 80 gallon V4 currently priced @ $1639

Sounds like motor widings. Too bad i wasn't local I'd fix her up for ya. New one is stout!!. I'd take the motor off the old one and have it rebuilt for a spare and use the old tank as an extra resivour. Same thing happen to a buddy. he got a new one and i rebuilt his motor on the old one and just put it back on. We plumbed the tank into the new one and just had a valve see we could isolate the the new one should it fail and just turn on the old one with the new motor. BUILD ON!!!

It was the windings...Some of them are pretty copper color and some are burnt offerings.
When I talked to Matt, owner of Eaton Compressors, first we started off talking about the 10HP V4 unit. With it, he suggested I keep the old tank and use it as an extra reservoir tank. He said the 10 HP unit filled the stock 80 gallon tank so fast, that it was basically always just starting up and running for less than a minute then shutting off. He said to run it on a single 80 gallon tank, one needed to add in some kit to make the pump run continuously.

That's what made me decide to go with the 7.5HP and 80 gallon. I have thought about running both supply tanks though.

Well, I have this monster of a compressor on property.

It's huge!

No way you'd believe you can buy this much compressor for what I paid for it. $1820 Delivered!

It's 32 SCFM, 24SCFM @ 100 psi and only runs at 600 rpm!

The electric motor is WAAAY bigger than the 6.5HP one on my last compressor. It's so large it has two lifting eyes bolted just to it!

It weighs 923 lbs and will soon be moving into residence in the CC (Compressor Corner)
