Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Ken, sorry didn’t take pictures of taking stuff apart to put same stuff back in....

Well, I confirmed front axle is a 50...... so if I ever do get beyond the basic oil change say into an oil burner that will need addressed.

Also spoke with Tate the other day. This unit has a rear limited slip. Tate sells a better one or a grizzly. Not sure I want a grizzly in this and knowing the stock limited slip is functioning I think I will hold off on the rear. If I come across a good deal on a bolt in 60 front I’ll probably grab that and upgrade to 35 spline stubs, good Yukon lockouts and a grizzly up in the front. That upgrade I think would be wiser mo eye spent than messing with a rear locker at the moment.

Picked up new tires, stopped by discount tire to make appointment. Place was dead (very unusual) and now waiting as they are installing. No appointment needed, must be my lucky day!

Always had good luck with them. There is one close to my new property too, hope they are just as good.

This one is on major highway near our house and normally always slammed. There is a small one near my shop I might try in the futur as they never seem busy but only a couple bays versus this 8 bay place.

So spare tire is back in mostly stock location. Couple small modifications...

First we had to remove this from under where rear spare is located. It appears Ford engineers thought ahead or I lucked out and one was an off road guy who likes bigger tires? Either way, props to that guy!

So in the rear of this limited I can vent this large rear side windows. A larger tire once installed makes contact with that opener and it’s motorized so don’t need a burnt up motor.

So I dug around shop and found this rear floor mat from Baylee’s totaled Xj. I doubled it up and stuffed it between tire and rear panel gaining just enough room to clear that window vent opener. Mat may double as a knee pad or traction device in the future. Double win I think?

Second time having passenger side door apart, mirrors are substandard. After getting adapter plugs the mirror to plug adapter does not fit. Mirrors are getting sent back. Will have to find new source for mirrors, swbhobie16 you have a source? Frustrated, glad it’s friday!

Picked up an 2004 F350 Dana 60 front yesterday for $100, its 3.73 instead of the 4.30 gears I need but will go through it and add a locker and Yukon lockouts. Most likely a mid winter project.

Actually JR he did, after I bought it I found his post on cl (I bought it via fb marketplace) in the cl post he mentioned selling them in past for $750. However, this one has been sitting awhile. The fb post he originally asked $400 but when I started talking to him he was down to $250. Before I agreed to come see it I had him to $150. Once I got there and saw it had been stored outside uncovered I asked if I could inspect internals assuming it would have some water in it which it did. Then mention cost of rebuild and bearings being expensive and he was glad I took it away for a hundred.......

What’s it out of? I’ve been looking for an older drum brake model. I have one but it’s that 2nd gen dodge model that’s technically an 80/70 hybrid narrows down b4 drum backing plates. The other ones I have were newer Ford disc units.

Didn't that diesel program build a SxS with military axles and a new subframe?

I am no expert but that trail the escalator was pretty easy in a stock razor.  Straight forward. No turning and all the gas pedal.  I imagine in that stupid large thing it only made it more complicated than ad the moron tellingya what to do

Not sure on those axles but not 2.5 tons, did use a driveline brake similar to what you can out on the 2.5 tons though.

They used military axles, just not rockwells. Built a whole subframe and turbo'd it.

from what i can tell (need to pull BOM to confirm) it’s a mid 90s ford E series dually van disk unit. (ambulance)

sucker is heavy as lead. has 4.56s in it now if anyone wants them. guy is going to 4.10.

i may know where a drum unit is (same guy that had the 29 spline 205) not far from me. i think he was asking $500 for it since it was pulled from a driving truck and stored inside

Might be interested in those gears, axle is too rich for my blood and too heavy to move cross country.

However, assuming the tubes are not necked down at the drum backing plate could you pull a couple measurements for me?

i’ll let you know about gears. haven’t pulled them yet. the 4.10s are on a detroit but has been out of a truck for awhile. is it possible to clean it up and re oil it?

i’ll ask my buddy about the 80 and make sure. i’m sure he can get some measurements

Gears, are they pitted or just surface? You can always try and see what kind of pattern you can get.
