Camping this weekend. I've been fighting my camper fridge for months. Since it got hot out it don't work on electric and hardly works on gas. Yesterday my CO detector went off. After alot of searching my brother found that some insulation above the fridge fell down blocking the vent. Had to get on the roof and pull the vent off and fish it out. Seems to be working much better.

Speaking of fridges, I got a 20qt unit for my weekend jounts that runs on 12v. I was going through 3-4 bags of ice where it is hard to get, needed a solution.

$179 on amazon, has a max and eco mod with an AC adapter to also. So far so good. Cooled it down, got 1 bag of ice for chilling things in a small cooler, put the rest in the 12v. Worked great, never ran the Dmax battery down and was big enough for gal of water and several beverages like a prechill. Even has a little ice tray. Even a light and drain.

However I got a new 1000watt inverter that is crap. Was replacing an old 800watt Coleman that struggled with a small coffee pot. The new inverter wouldn't even run a 20in fan that the coleman ran fine. Reviews were good on both.

Caught this fox on the security camera. Killed 2 chickens then ran off with a third. Returned overnight to get retrieve the first 2. Mother in law caught it in action when she came out to close them up for the night.

Can't imagine having a nice trailer without a winch, I mean, you never know when you might need to winch on a piece of busted equipment, like maybe a dozer?
Also welded in some screen up top. This is where I'll carry some 4' timbers.

Harbor freight has come a long way on their 12k winches. I wanted the 18k, but this one had good reviews, and looks really good IMO... plus it's setup with a wireless/wired remote.

Put it in up high because of the angle of the beaver tail in the back.

Ken I don’t think that winch is going to budge a dozer that’s size.  Just saying

Charles.  We did and it should support my house lol.

Way overkill for my 300sq mezzanine but the price was right

Scored a caddy 500 bottom end that was in process of being rebuilt. Also included two sets of heads one of which were rebuilt completely and a bunch of additional components some brand new and some oem parts. Love me some caddy gold!!!

Exactly JR. Plus the one I'm trying to get weighs 8k, and option #2 is about 16k.

Shawn, surprised someone as wet behind the ears as you even knows what a Caddy 500 is!

... still think the Pontiac runs better, albeit heavier.

Ken, this is my 3rd 500......  :knucklehead:

And some reading for the old forgetful guys http://real-man-truckworks-and-survival.com/index.php?topic=3899.0

On that winch, reduce the cable length. The one big downside is the aluminum drum. When it winds up pulling in if it doesn’t get evenly spread out (and it won’t, it will pile up in one spot) it will bust the drum. Reduce length of cable and use extensions and should be gtg. Signed “the young hippy”

Copy on the cheap winch. Didn't even notice the aluminum drum. What do you think about the synthetic rope they come with? Shorten the same as cable?

Wasn't sure if it was a caddy or olds (bellhousing) until you confirmed.

Sorry, missed the part about synthetic rope. Guess I had not run across one of those on a badlands winch already. I’d just unspool it and wind it back up and see how it does then go from there. It’s not a bad winch all in all for the money. Just make sure you keep it covered especially with synthetic rope as the uv will degrade that quick.

Received 24 ton of gravel this morning for backfilling behind the retaining wall. I’ll get the compact track loader from the rental place tomorrow and hopefully be able to call that project finished.

It might if he uses a pulley and the dozer is rolling freely with recently used tracks.

Ken, I was looking at that winch, and yes HF has come a long way!

Yeah on the winch.
Mine is the old school one still. Must keep very good track of he cable.
I didn’t shorten mine. I might. That is a great idea.

As long as I’m close I hear it rubbing before it gets too bad.
I may have to keep an eye out next time I’m in the US of A for a new one.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Good evening gents, long time no type. Y’all have been a busy bunch and I saw lots of cool projects on the site. I hope y’all are all doing well.

Been a lot going on round here lately with the wuhan virus and my wife working from home. Keeping the 2 year old entertained so she can work has become my second job on my days off. It takes a good nights sleep and at least a half pot of coffee to keep up with that one but it’s also a lot of fun. We got a jump on the coronababies and have another one due early November. A boy this time. Also finally got out of the ecoturd and back into a LB7. Well maintained 04 with new injectors last November. What a relief to be back in a good truck.

Missed another camping weekend with my GF, her son and I think a couple of her friends and mom. I have to keep plugging along on my homework so I can have next month of free time before the next semester starts.  Got promoted at work a couple months ago to a Supervisor position that takes me to work early and staying late but I set a rotation with the other Supervisors so we can at least get a couple early days off.

43 of us took to the water on the annual Freedom Float. Mostly kayaks but a few of us had canoes. Around a 5 hour trip for us old guys. The younger crowd stayed on the sand bars a little longer to party.
