What about this? Colorado ZR-2
« on: December 19, 2016, 10:14:28 AM »
I like this thing

4 cyl Duramax diesel
3.5" wider track which is all in widening suspension
Some sort of star wars shocks
Bigger tires
2" + lift
Cool hood
and
Wait for it

lockers in the rear and front!!!!!!

So I see this thing as a decent transportation vehicle that will turn and fit in traffic and parking spaces and get 30 MPG while able to haul a Christmas tree (After a proper tow tune of course!)

Oh, and they heavily scalloped the front bumper to give great access to the front tires...I like the improved thinking here. Actually a Power Wagon type effort by Chebby

Comes with a lifetime warranty, costs under $20K, pulls 1G on the skip pad, and gets 131 MPG!

And as of the printing of the article, is certified "Gay-Free!"

I think you should try it and report on it's actual reliability.  You know, as a public service to the rest of us.  That would be very kind of you.  ::)

But for the record, my money is bet squarely on the inevitable "event" where it gets overloaded and you somehow manage to break the thing in half.

I started the process of virtually building it and after all the options I would want for it, I'm at $39k. starting MSRP on a brand new 2500hd is $32k... and payload goes from 7600 to 18,000... I think I'll wait for the lb7 to mysteriously catch fire 50 yards from the house and any other combustibles and collect the insurance check and go back into another HD. for a runaround truck though that I didn't have to pay for, sounds like the 1/2 ton dodge diesel like Duane's got has some friendly competition.

Well, you never know...Just might

But I'd have to compare it against the Power Wagon first.

Two totally different trucks, but If I could pull off buying another truck whilst keeping C-Max, it would have to be a friendly parking lot driver

Interior looks nice except for that center-console mounted shifter (aka girly shifter). Looks like they put the windshield wipers on the right side of the column like the jap cars.

Yea, this is gonna be a little sleeper.

Like all diesels, a tune won't be 12 extra horsepower. No, more like +50HP and +150 torque

The tunes are already flying for this truck. I think they are in the 500-600 torque already on a pretty sane tune with better fuel economy as well

10 second search found this:

2.8L Duramax Colorado Canyon Tuning w /License

+50HP and 80Ft-lbs w/Tuning only

4-position Switchable on-the-fly!

Durmaxtuner.com has wasted no time ramping up with our new 2.8L Duramax options!

The 2.8L Duramax in its factory trim is rated at 180 HP by GM and carries a full compliment of emissions equipment to keep it clean and quiet.  Backing up the new powerplant is the 6L50 transmission.  Both the engine and transmission use existing powertrain control modules which have allowed the team at Duramaxtuner.com to quickly gain access and make improvements. Over the past several months, we've worked with our customers and in-house on our truck to develop and test tuning for this platform. After hundreds of revisions, we're happy to have a product that significantly outperforms GM's calibration in power, driveability and mileage.

By working through the engine and transmission calibrations together we significantly widened and raised the factory torque curve, settling on a peak of 460Ft-Lbs which is very near the rated capacity of the transmission.  With the wider torque curve, we're able to shift the truck sooner, and engage torque converter lockup sooner without bogging the truck.  This means less operating RPM and ultimately lower fuel consumption numbers.  Best of all, these calibrations work without any other modifications to the truck, meaning that you still get a quiet, clean, smokeless truck that can be returned to stock at any point.

Now, I drove the VW 3.0 Turbo Diesel with 405 ft/lbs. That little dude which is similiar in weight (AWD) as this midi truck would fly. I mean it was surprisingly quick. on ramps were fun again. I'd say it might give my C-Max with 1000+ ft/lbs a run for the money

Translation: This little truck that could be is going to be pretty sporty.

I found this from the Chevy site.

Seems unclear if the oil burner gets the two extra gears...??

Off-Road Mode Technology allows you to seamlessly pick between Desert, Mud or Mountains. Plus, the Colorado ZR2 offers a brand new advanced 3.6L V6 engine with eight-speed transmission, in addition to the segment-exclusive Duramax® 2.8L Turbo-Diesel.† No matter what road you take, the brand new Colorado ZR2 will get you there.

Dave,

They banned me from that site!

Never told me I was banned, just couldn't log in any more. Then found that I had been banned. I guess I was getting too powerful and of course with the pro-Jesus comments, I was offending the snowflakes and devils.

Feel free to post away, Dave. Say Flyin sent cha!

Dave, I'm pretty sure he was banned as it happened within two months of this site opening and after announcing "open for business".  Several moderaters copied and pasted threads for Don once they banned him.  I don't miss the place much as I've only been there twice in all this time.

It was a couple of years ago. Wasn't a password issue. They would not answer emails...Others made inquiries. I think that D-Max build is still their biggest thread, well, maybe not by now, but I was approaching 2 million views on just that single thread.
Then the SquareD thread did it all again.

Nothing to be gained over at that forum. Too carnal. I hope that enough seeds are planted to point people whom God is calling back to this place.

I don't expect huge crowds. I do expect those who he leads here to ge led and fed, and guided though

My wife and I were waiting for the ZR-2 to be released (for her) but ran across a deal this morning that I could not pass up. Now, if I can convince her to sell her cracker box and drive this, I can keep my LB7.

Also found out later this afternoon that Chrysler made a mistake and the Rebel trucks weren't supposed to be discounted like the rest of the left over 16 models. I usually have the opposite kind of luck. Anyway that ZR-2 shows a lot of promise and I hope Flyin gets one. That would be fun to watch. My apologies, DOT over now.
