Daughter number two aka the middle rebel child is now graduated.

When I say rebel it’s an interesting statement. Shelby was by far the most challenging child to raise. She was head strong, with a very determined spirit and the only one of the three who needed a speed limit on the atv’s. Her first car was a mustang she worked & saved for then purchased. She hotrodded it around for six months terrorizing the town prior to totaling it and by the grace of god both her and her younger sister walked away without a scratch.

When she was a freshman the local liberal admins at the high school decided lanyards that kids had to wear around their necks daily would indicate what class they were a part of. Underclassmen couldn’t leave school for lunch so this “marked” them. As a result a black market for upper class lanyards appeared.

Shelby came home one day and while venting asked if there was anything that could be done to reverse this lanyard aka “cattle branding”? I stated you could instigate a protest movement. So Shelby with help from Dad wrote up and printed some flyers. The plan was to distribute the flyers at school secretly and a walk out would take place at said time and date then burn the lanyards.

Shelby then secretly disbursed the first flyers into restrooms where cameras are not allowed. Later that day she came back to find them all gone. The following day admin announced there would be no more lanyards. Four years passed and Shelby had heard via a couple teachers that the lanyards were stopped due to the planned protest.

So mom and I had long forgotten about the lanyards and at graduation one of the students speaking mentioned the great mysteries of the local high school. One mystery in question was whom had started the great lanyard rebellion. The wife and I both looked at each other and chuckled.

She is now graduated and off to Bozeman in the fall.

Congrats Shawn. Well done and great story.

I’ll leave this here.

Prime beef ribs. 250 for about 5 hours.

Rub was pepper garlic powder onion powder paprika and cayenne.

Salted them 3 hours before rub

First time smoking beef ribs and I have to say “where have you been all my life?”  More moist than the point end of a brisket and great beef flavor.

When I was putting the motor on the compressor last week. It slipped and I tensed up keeping it from falling. Some "snapped" in my left bicep, looks like this a few days later. Sore, but not painful (cept the first day)

Dang getting old is tuff.

Put out flags and flowers at family and friends grave yesterday. Makes me said to see the graves of our WWII vets that you can tell nobody comes to vist them any more. Not as mad as when I went to one cemetery that some jack wagon(I have several other words but the site wouldn't let me use them) drove what looks to be a pick up that sunk and left about 6-8 inch ruts and drove off! Small town USA someone will have too much to dring and word will get out who did it. What kind of person does that

Made it to the cabin.
Now to start the rebuild.

Was going to be a chainsaw demolition prior to the dem panic price gouging at the lumber mill.

Now it turns out I’ve probably got 20k in lumber out here.

Picked up some corn hole boards at the local farmers market.

Going to add some finish to the board  for longevity

What do you all guys suggest for outdoor use

My experience is all indoor

If its already got a finish on it I would go with a marine varnish/urethane that stands up to UV.

Like a Spar Urethane

Dave, if you want to mess with people, use your fancy car polishing technique on one of the boards and leave plenty of overspray on the opposite side.

I need to do this sometime. With the RMAA trip canceled I am looking for a filler. Think a nice loop around the western states would be great!

My girlfriend is already planning a roadtrip to Seattle and back. I spent some of the day looking at trading in my jeep for a truck. So far a 2018 Silverado 1500 is at the top of the list.

Well. Progress is slow.
Removed the interior yestertag.
2” brads x minimum of four in every board.
Half a coffee can full of pulled brads.

Today got all the siding off outside.
Unpacked the windows.
They survived unscathed since the back of the box one that broke a bit in the city.
Gonna try that foo foo magic juice to see if it “fixes” the cracks.

Maybe I should revive the cabin thread...

Had a good and bad day.

Bad,  built in fridge will require $1400 repair and don’t know when the parts will arrive.

Good, ordered a used factory DVD Navigation drive for the Odyssey off EBay.  In the odyssey it controls the display and the backup camera.  Got it in 2 days and installed it and it solved the black screen and no back up camera.

Hopefully daughter will not back over any kids now....

Here is a before and after of a demolition of the rotted bocce bench/gazebo.  It took a hot minute because i had to disconnect the main power feeding it as well as take out all of the conduit before i could let my sawzall do the work for me.

Don't be sad over old graves.
No one is there in that garden of stones. Only a symbolic marker to their time. Their memories are all that we can hold, and in time we pass on too. What some of us did/do is significant, but after the passing of our children nothing of us will really remain not be relevant. I'm not sure grave sites are all that important. They may comfort some, but with the earth approaching 10 billion, there may well come a time when cemeteries are converted to housing or food plots. In any event, abandoned graves should not take us to a place of sadness. Just imagine if all the graves of all the fallen, from all times were still marked? Would there be any free land? Would the sadness from seeing billions of abandoned graves make for a culture wide depression that robs us from the happiness we can enjoy during our very short lifetimes?
Our time is brief. The memories we leave is all we do have on earth. And in fact, those who knew Jesus are in a far better place, and for those who did not, well, best to just forget them or we'd be plagues by the thoughts of their eternal anguish.

I had pulled a few feet forward by this point and had to check on progress.

Shouldn’t ought of been there I’d say now.
But it should have held to truck.

I was trying to get my dock into the lake. Water is low and mud is deep. Lol. Thank goodness for 100 foot winch lines and heavy docks.
All and I mean all of my recovery stuff was at home. Returned 14 footer today. All I had was the winch.

5 days before we are leaving the fridge in the camper decides to quit. Saturday morning over the phone diagnosis with the service department we have determined the cooling unit is shot. So I sat down and wondered what we were going to do. Turns out this dorm fridge fits perfectly in the closet where the washer and dryer go.
