I'd like to know how to lay down cammo as well as that

Great job

(Or is that a decal???)

thanks guys. i've had a couple other ppl ask me if it's hydro dipped or a decal, and i can assure you most definitely painted on. hahah. just need a light tan, mid tan/brown and a dark brown/rust or dark green (depending on what you're trying to blend)

once i get back from south texas (read 'north mexico) i'll see if i can do a few step by step photos..

We got our first real snow yesterday and last night. 10" total, boy got the 72 out to do the drive, and was gone when I got home from work with the truck! I get home before him today so I can play in the snow today! I'll try to get my wife to take some pics of the old Chevy working and post them tomorrow.

Now thats cold for most of us US folks. Been in alot of it but not lately.

TRN I need to do some pig shooting. We have me here but night shooting and scopes are frowned on. I think the 300blackout would do a great job adding the pvs on top.

Speaking of the PVS, they finally shipped it today and they had 10% off so I saved another $200+ on it.

Got a slipped belt in a tire on my pickup. I thought the bad carrier bearing was causing the vibration at 70 mph. Fixed that now it vibrates like hell at 40. Smooths out around 60. Pulled the rear tires and re balanced them. One tire stayed the same the other was off. Put them back on the pickup and no change. Put it on the lift and and ran it. I could see the one tire wobbling a little bit. Tires are worn down enough I cant get just one but got plenty of tread I don't want to buy all 4. I cant afford a $1,000 tire bill. I ll take it in to the tire shop monday and see what they say. Firestone transforce A/T with 20,000 miles on them.

having worked in the tire industry, I know they can shave a new tire to equal the tread depth of the old tires. might be worth looking into.

Good deal JR.  Ken my trips there are interesting to say the least.  Usually working with schools and government entities and watching how poorly and inefficiently they spend our tax dollars.

I have even identified some of the local bars where the cartel does business.

Be interesting for a group of heavily armed civilians and quasi-civilians to go in there and stare at their hot girlfriends until they started a fight....

Well HH6 and I took the dogs for a walk at the beach.
We both commented how it seemed colder than earlier.
Even the dogs weren't all that cool with it...

Turns out were under an extreme cold warning.
Wind chill in excess of -45 to -55...
Yeah it cooled off some...
-15 this morning, -30ish base temp overnight.
I'm fearing what Mother Nature has in store for us now, being November was so warm relatively speaking.

I'm way up in northern Manitoba. I'm north of 56 way out in the bush.
Yeah it can be a shock for some to see and hear.

Generally we'll get a a stretch of around a month where we're happy to see warmer than -40 or so.
We had an uncanny warm November with probably mid 20's for an average instead of zero.

If you look on the map of North America, Churchill is on the south side of Hudson Bay, were a couple hundred miles south.

Had a little accident yesterday. I always tug test before raising the landing gear but I was on snow and the wheels just spun. So I raised them up and pulled ahead on dry ground. Better to drop it in the yard than on the road. I even visually inspected the jaws to see if they were closed on the king pin.  This truck sat out in the last snow storm turn out there was ice in the 5th wheel preventing it form locking all the way. 20 years with a CDL and never dropped a trailer. First time for everything.

8" more on Fri and 4" on Sat.! Better run to the gas station!

Pick up a couple 12 volt fans to help circulate the air. They plug into the cigarette lighter.

I've only seen -29 one or two times. One in Korea and one in Afghanistan up in the "hills"

Had to fly on that day in Korea. To get the aircraft fired up we had to attach a herman-nelson heater to each engine fuel control, and the hydraulic pumps and reservoirs. It took a couple hours to heat it enough to get it to start without fear of blowing some shiny hydraulic line off some manifold somewhere

Something about those turbines liking to be warm...
I can agree to that today.
Still wicked out -30ish with wind chill around -40 to -45.
I like the cold, but not so much THIS cold.
Put me in the zero plus or minus and I'm a happy camper.
Truck not happy today either.
Found my bypass filters weeping, and coolant from lower rad connection.
Need to source new o-ring for that, hasn't been right since the last time I changed antifreeze.
Brr...

I dropped a trailer full of empty bottles once in the yard. Little yard mule with 555 cummins and the hydro lift on the 5th. Got lucky and didn't collapse the gear.

-29 is not bad, coldest I had to operate in -66 that's the temp not windchill.  One it gets -75 they stop flying the supply planes in the location I was in.

Well, booked a cruise today.
And it wasn't the chill that brought it on, we'd been debating something for our upcoming milestone.
Doing a seven day Caribbean for our 20th anniversary, never done the cruise thing so will be a new adventure.
We miss it by a day technically, but close enough.

My cruise attitude is linked to the story of Noah - get on a boat to escape peril, get back on dry ground as soon as possible!  Now, I might do one of those "River" deals.......figure I can swim to shore there if necessary!   ;D

All it did was pull the wires out of the pig tail plug.  Im really impressed with them plastic fenders. We were told you could drop a trailer on them in the middle of winter and they wouldn't break. They were right.

That's impressive and good news. Plastics have come a long way from back in the day.

Not sure what I'm into/done with the cruise, not sure about trapped on a boat...
I have no issues with boat, just the trapped bit.
We've always talked about doing one to see.
I did get the drink and I think food upgrades au gratis.

Any damage?

All it did was pull the wires out of the pig tail plug.  Im really impressed with them plastic fenders. We were told you could drop a trailer on them in the middle of winter and they wouldn't break. They were right.

now that's kind of funny considering that I am about to finish up my CDL Course................ ;D

LoL this subject of a cruise just came up between my wife and I not long ago. I suggested we book a cruise, man I got a evil look, and then the following....

"No way Mr, I am not stepping foot on a likely sinking slowly, broke down motel 6 with a propeller. Remember that house boat you rented? Remember when you said swim for it? Remember the Mississippi stained my best bikini as we attempted to survive the leaky plywood box they called  a boat?...never again. Why don't you book a trip for us to tour N Korea, maybe we could go to Cuba, hey how about I sign you up to ring a bell for the red cross at the truck stop.... no cruise nope."

To put it into context, that discussion happened while we were at a parent teacher conference.

We had talked about a cruise once also.  Sounded like fun.  But once we added up the amount it would cost, my wife declared she had a better idea.  Instead she bought me a case of whiskey and then upgraded her car.  In her mind a vacation would possibly make her happy for a week(she has a bad record for being sick every time we leave for vacation), whereas a newer car would definitely make her happy every day, for at least a year, until she is ready to upgrade again.  I can't argue with that logic, and buying cars is always fun.  That was another one of those "yep I picked the right girl" moments.

Well today I dry walled and swore at the drunken Amish Carpenter that clearly didn't own a measurement device when they built my home. Balloon framed 3x6ish wall studs every 14-16" depending on mood for spacing.

I also spent a hour or so ordering some carpet. It was on sale for $6.75 a sq ft...yippee. And another $1.26 per for pad.

I did resist the urge to see if the petrified fir 1x8" siding is bullet proof...so I was mature LoL.

Don, that's funny your luck and blessing.

My problem with cruises is that I hate people.  I hate crowds actually.  Because inevitably there are a handful of people who believe they are better, superior, more entitled than every other human in the crowd.  On a tightly packed boat with hoards of human rejects, there is an exponentially high likelihood that I would eject a few from the balcony of the boat.
Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Charles, that is my fear as well. I'm like you that way, hate people in general to some degree. I think this is why I'm happy at he cabin with the boss and dogs.

I did survive Disney at Christmas back in 2005, so hopefully I can find my zen.
Worst case, I booked an aft deck presidential suite with balcony, so I can hide there if need be.
It was a screaming deal or else I wouldn't have done he upgrade, but figured, like Disney, it's probably only going to be once...

So as long as they don't get to my balcony I should be good...

Finally got to installing the light bar tonight.
Holy lumenuminums!
Glad that I went to the 52".
I'll post a couple pics on my bumper thread.

TRN, most of the boats I have been on have quiet bars and other places to get away from the crowds. Room service and the room balcony work too. Get on shore and find your own things to see and do. Don't have touch the bags or move from room to room. Each to their own but I like it.
