In Vegas for a IT conference. Had to get my In-N-Out fix double double.

Mad house but not hot so that is good. 9 hours on conference room.

My neighbor is there too. Mike Walton, presenting for MicroSoft.
Nice. I will have to look him up unless he is the one you had the “dog” incident with.

No, not him, he is a good one. his boy and my pre-ranger are best friends. Plan to go to west point together. Mike is an Army full bird colonel in the reserves, an engineer, two tours in Iraq. stand up family.

JR, speaking of rocks, I put a boulder here to keep quads from going around the new gate. Amazing how much that mini x can lift.  That thing is 5' across.

Yep. Glad I'm not the one that has to use it. Wouldn't be pretty. I just go to these so I know what is possible so my BS meter is better when talking to my Network Engineers.

Passed by a shed lot today and purchased this 6x8 so I can leave some tools behind.  Might leave the excavator also but haven't decided yet.
..and no, it's not an outhouse like my wife assumed, but it did take a few hours to set.

12 loads of rock so far,  at 12 tons per.
8 on the easement (2") and 4 on the uphill driveway (2-6"). Still need another layer on the easement,  and a few loads of 3/4" on the driveway.  Probably 22 loads total . Chaaching

^^^ What he said

You know, you people amaze me

Many of you go off and start some project and all of a sudden the thing just blossoms into this amazing thing. This property of Ken's will no doubt be one of these things. We will all watch this and JR's place turn into some really cool place to live. See it from scratch to end up something like Tex's place that bests Marriott's offerings.

It is fun watching these projects and really your lives. And, Ken (and others) 22 loads of rock...three words come to mine: Ex-Pen-sive! I'm dropping around $400 ish for 22 tons, with the truck delivery fee being the dominant cost, not the stone. So I can only imagine what this little "Week in the woods" is costing.

Whew'

Didn't wanna start a thread because after the rock work, I may not be back for a while....but will anyway for posterity.
JR, ended up too steep for the kind of fabric he had on hand.  We shaved 6" of mud off and left about 4". That big stuff settled in pretty good...its shale..

Turner, let's call it 40+ and no fence.

No fence for me either. Will do a gate or 2 and whatever big rocks I find.

So Ken, this is longer term than mine? Plus like a days drive.

Yeah, just making it so a drill rig can make it up the semi steep driveway.  That's the next investment..a well.  Then it's going to be a while trying to fund the casa. Might have to sell my old house.

Preformed a “oil change” on my duramax today

10k on the oil amsoil
Fuel filters changed back in oct 2017
Motor fuel filter changed last fall

Checked all other fluids.  Added some antifreeze to the tank
Adjusted a rubber anti vibration pad to keep positive side of transmission cooler line off of the oil ban

Cleaned the last few weeks of Macdonalds garbage from the passenger seat.
Primed fuel system, truck fired like clock work.

Now clean up my oil mess!

Seems like only a few weeks ago I was hauling dirt over the ice with the quad.
Made the first trip in the boat this morning.
No major icebergs seen, they are around still.
Picked big generator and welder up.
Fixed broken bits on dock.
Now I wait for a calmer day to push the dock across.
20 gusting to 30 mph waves are a bit large for a dock move.

Sam how far across is it? When you move the dock, or dirt or lumber?

It’s right around four miles.
A bit more in the boat as I have to go around stone piles etc.
And just under on the ice.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

It’s a cheap old welder I picked up at Princess Auto, our version of Harbor Freight.
Brand is Deca, have no idea either. It was cheap I didn’t have a surplus, and had worked great for almost 20 years now. 230 volt unit only (not borrowable to most. Was a must for me) will do gas no gas and +\- to the gun.
Generator came from Costco in 2005. It’s a Coleman 6850 watt unit with a 13 hp Honda motor. Hard on gas but will run 3 campers at once, air conditioning in mine to boot. Lol.
It’s big issue for me is 250-280 pounds. With a bad back it can be a bit much to lift.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Man I really like those blocks. Unless I have lots of rocks those maybe in my future.

Cleaned 8 of 12 pool filters (takes 4) trying to clean it up. Booster pump bearings for the sweeper are shot so I got a robotic on the way.

Pulled the front bumper off the sub for the other sub so I can sell it.

Put the new 6v cart batteries in the trailer. 5 year old Wally energizers were toast. Everything in the trailer works again, even the gen! (Costco/interstate only gives a 1 year warranty on these now!!)

Getting ready for our Idaho trip. Haven't had the camper out yet all year. Didn't really want to go this weekend but had to try the camper out. Work out the bugs. Good thing we did. Roof had a really bad leak. I hope the dealer can sneak me in quick for less than an Arm and a leg. I dont have time to get it done myself. That and I don't really know what I'm doing We leave a week from Thursday. Between now and them we have a buch of grain to get hauled. Beans to finish planting if it ever dries up and my wifes aunt in Cincinnati is on hospice. I really hope we don't have to go to Idaho by way of Ohio but we are prepared to leave at any time.

Slept in until 830ish, then relaxed for the most part. Been working on trying to upload scuba videos to my Facebook account for the charity. While watching the videos I can tell I need work at underwater filming.

A few weeks ago I had posted that I ha four new field tractor tires on the Steiner mower. Unfortunately due to the slight variation in size, they were rubbing on the air filter housing and the hydraulic filter on the left hand side. So much so in fact that during my inaugural mowing adventure, the hydraulic filter was spun loose by the tire when I hit a bump mowing a side hill. Here’s the tire and air filter housing, only about a quarter inch clearance when parked.

So I sourced some 1.5 inch wheel spacers. Luckily the bolt pattern is a simple 4x4. The ones I picked up are 6062 aluminum and are made pretty well. Not only did I gain 1.5 inch of clearance between the tire and the air and hydraulic filters, but it added three inches to the stance.  The only issue I ran into was that my 1/2 inch drive 13/16 socket didn’t fit in the holes in the spacer for my lug nuts, but the 3/8 fit like it was made for it.

Bobby, what do you use for filming?

GoPro Hero4, nothing super special. I bought it used from a friend I dove with before he moved to Florida.

Got dock moved last night. Still ice bergs here and there.

I’ve got a good sized rock to move one way or another. Right under my first float. Explains why the bottom came out last fall. Dock is 18” west of where it should be until I get the rock moved. Hammer drill anchor and 4:1 come to mind. Coupled to a 3500# winch something will move.

Regardless summer has officially begun for us.

Buddy! I can’t wait to spend a few days again.
I’m a couple months out from a few weeks, so I’ll take a weekend!

So peacefull out there. Love every minute.
But gotta get the garden boxes and greenhouse or some variant up in the next couple weeks.
So a bit of workin again to come.
