Kioti 6010HST
« on: May 09, 2024, 09:31:16 PM »
Well, this happened today:

A new Kioti 6010 Cab tractor with a loader and a grapple.

Good vid on a farmer who purchased one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rBiZQQnnDA

I believe I mentioned this might arrive, and as of today it is on its way.

Because of the situation surrounding my farm, that being we are not building our forever home there in the near future, and maybe not at all, but possibly...
Because of that, the farm is now in a maintenance mode from my perspective. I will harvest round bales of hay off of it twice a year, totalling around 100 bales, I still need to bushhog the areas not harvested, and repair the roads, and do chores here and there. Therefore I feel another 60HP tractor is good enough.

I actually built that farm with a 66HP John Deere then went into overdrive with the skid-steer and excavator. But a simple hydrostat tractor is all that I will need to keep the place in tip-top condition going forward.

I already own a 60HP Kubota MX-6000. But I have to say that after two years on that thing, I really do not like it. It has a terrible "Treadle" pedal thing that makes the tractor super difficult to just operate. Then there's the pathetic loader. The Kubota's loader is rated at 1,700 lbs, whereas the Kioti's is nearly 2,700. That is a country mile better. No excuse, Kubota, you built us a weak-in-the-knees tractor.

I traded in my Kubota today and picked up a brand new Kioti 60-horse tractor. It's so new that it is still all broken down sitting in a crate. I got to pick out my tires which will be the newest offering, the R14 which is half ag and half industrial tire tread. I added to it a third function routed to the loader so I could operate the grapple, and I purchased a Kioti 5' grapple.

The new tractor with a cab will allow for AC when cutting in September, and heat when doing winter chores. It has a ton of cool features, some of which I may actually use! It is set to be delivered on Thursday.

Well, not quite yet.

It is a long daily drive from the grandkids, and that is a big deal at the moment.

But the bigger issue is the road into the place.
It was impassable during a lot of the winter

and

my neighbor, who is my friend, will not fix it or allow me to fix it.

This is one of those Kentucky deals where I have prescriptive easement to a land locked property. I could go to court and all that and have a regular easement given to me, but I would still have to ask permission to improve the road. There's that but I also have this belief that he has the right to keep that road anyway he wants to. It's his land after all. I respect that and he and I have come to respect each other and our "oddities," so I'll leave that resting dog lie.

I see all that changing in due course. Unfortunately he has bone cancer and I wish he didn't. I like the man and I think he is a good person, albeit a bit eccentric, but frankly that is part of his charm. Perhaps in time we could purchase that property and if that happened, I would build there and you'd have a 3/4 mile drive back into the woods just to get to my home, which I would very much like.

I like his family and so forth and well at the end of the day, that lane is not getting any better than 4WD/mud tire capable, so Kat in her AWD Caddy would be left out in the cold if we built there now. So for now, I'll keep the property up and ready. I'll make small, incremental, and smart changes that do not kill the bank account, nor take up huge chunks of our time.

We are in a place in our life where we are enjoying the family, each other and travelling. Frankly, this year, I would not have had all that much time remaining to do much down there anyway.

So for now, it is what it is. It is in God's hands and I am not worrying about it

But I DID JUST BUY A NEW TRACTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIPPEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, NO DEF!
Kioti does it differently. Don't ask me how, but only has a catalytic converter.
The guys tell me it can be easily deleted...
But
They are offering a 6-year bumper-to-bumper warranty for no charge, so I'm not touching anything! (Well, I'm not touching much! ;-)

And it was delivered!

I had the rear tires filled, a front aux hydraulics supply for a grapple installed, and the thing prepped for use.

It looks and sounds good. Here is the Kubota leaving it's old home at the farm:

And the new Kioti is nestled in the driveway where it will work for a couple weeks before going down farmside for some bush hog work.

I do not like ag tires if the tractor will ever be used near a nice lawn, and for years have used the R4 industrial tires. The newest tire out there is called an R14 and is a combo tire that is not as aggressive as an ag but not as slippery as an industrial:

And you may have noticed I went with a slightly smaller framed tractor this time. I find myself working in close quarters to buildings and wood piles and dirt mounds often enough. The larger tractors, although very capable, lack the maneuverability I want,

That and this newest generation of tractors is offering loaders of much greater capacity. My old Kubota MX6000 60HP utility tractor could lift 1,700 lbs. This new Kioti, 60-horsepower unit can lift a jaw-dropping 2650 pounds! That's right at a half ton more!

This smaller-framed tractor has category 2 hitch parts with extendable lower links and a cool lever on the backside that allows one to operate the 3-point from the back of the tractor! How cool is that?

The skies looked angry, but after a couple weeks my flower beds are looking better. I have been shaping trees, pruning bushes, cutting in beds, and burning/pulling weeds.
