IP Cameras for the country place
« on: November 04, 2014, 10:41:10 PM »
After doing a bunch of research, I settled on a system from Q-See offered at Costco for much less than I could have gotten it anywhere else.  9 IP night vision cameras and a DVR with remote viewing and motion sensing.  The cameras can sense motion and send emails with still shots as well as trigger alarms.

It only takes a single cat5 cable to provide power and transmit video which makes them easy to install.
Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

I put something together that is close to the same. Using cheap cameras but really need to upgrade.

My kids hate it, but I love looking down the street.

Ubiquity makes a second gen ip camera that is really nice. Plus they sell an nor for $300 to handle the recording. Not costco cheap but gets you 720p and some IR led
