Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his bones. By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Psalm 23:3 ESV
Important point here^^^^^^^^^^

He restores my soul...

But wait, when we accept Jesus, the holy spirit enters our soul and remakes us, right?

Wrong!

And this simple point is one that keeps many of us enslaved to the lies of the devil. You see we are not just body and soul, we are also spirit. In fact the bible points out that we are spiritual beings, not soulful beings. I will admit there is certainly a lot of soul to be found here and there...thinking New Orleans. But the spirit is the place where the holy comes to reside...forever!

The trick of the devil is to make you think you have fallen after accepting Jesus. You were saved through accepting Jesus as your Lord and savior. With that act you are recreated, and covered by the sacrifice Jesus made through the letting of his blood. But your soul remains the same. Same as the moment before. Now with prayer, a change in behavior, and the taking of the Lord's supper you can cleanse your soul. Over time we can get all three parts of us tracking in the same direction, but the important point to remember (I think) is that if we fall backward, maybe take a drink to many, have an extramarital affair, steal something, or any other sin, we are still saved.

The devil wants you to think you are a depraved fallen bum. But the spirit that someday sheds the body always says the same thing, "I am a child of god." Peroid and forever and forever, the message never changes. So if you find yourself in some bad place, in some pit, remember that nothing you can do can change the spirit, the part that will someday live with God himself in a place he made for us.

You are saved...Believe it, and act like it!
