Title: I guess it's a build
Post by: TexasRedNeck on May 25, 2015, 10:24:31 PM
My girls and I made a bird feeder for my dad for Father's Day. Glued up some cedar and then made it into a rather large feeder. Plexiglass windows.  It probably holds about a gallon of seed. My dad spends about half his retirement on bird feed.  He should like this.

Charles,

My dad was the same way

And I must have spent hours sitting there watching all manner of birds sortie in and out of that thing to get some seed.

Very thoughtful!

Looks good. Just setting watching nature is very peaceful and rewarding.
We have one very similar at the cabin, just wish we had more variety of birds!

What exactly do you have at such a northern latitude?

Well it's actually quite surprising.
We do get to robins. We also have 'Whyskey Jacks' which are a very hearty year round bird similar to a grey jay. Then we have several varieties of grouse.
Of course the scavenger bunch, ravens, crows and gulls.
Several smaller migratory varieties that for the life of me escape my memory on what they are. I do have a book on birds we do have and I was surprised.
We are blessed with an abundance of bald and golden eagles.
We go get the migratory ducks and geese etc as well.
There are really a surprising bunch, but are quite limited in comparison as we are in a pretty hard part of the world.

Of course it is a "build"

Much less family is included and it is for family!!

We'll have to do a bird feeder section...or a family build project thread. I could add in the picnic table and outhouse builds ;-))

I like the family project thread idea.  Great dads get their kids involved in projects.

I think my daughters would benefit from a "wash daddy's dually project", rofl

Ever notice what kids use to clean things/?

I'd think that last one through a bit more before getting some girlies cut loose on that pretty dually of yours...just sayin'
