Title: PM broke
Post by: rasimmo on June 09, 2015, 07:34:15 PM
For some reason my private messages don't work. When I first joined the site it did, but I could not post anywhere else. Someone was helping me fix that through PMs. When the other posting got fixed the PM quit working. I gave it a couple weeks to see it was something yall were working on, but it's still giving me this message when I try to open it.

An Error Has Occurred!

Sorry, you can't read your personal messages.

Can someone help with this please. I would at least like to thank the guy that helped me fix the other issue.

I just checked your settings, and found everything to be normal. I forwarded it to Kyle to see if he can figure it out

We'll try to get you healed

Unfortunately, mine are doing the same thing. I thought that perhaps there was a minimum post number before you could access your messages, but seeing someone else have the same problem...

Dropping member group assignments somehow... Easy fix. Need to look into why it's happening

I dont know where to post this, so I'll drop it here to see if anyone responds...
I have been up and down this site for 2 days and I can't figure out how to PM someone. I figured out how to email through someone's profile but that's about as close as I could get. I have no doubt you are laughing at me while you read this as I'm sure it's right in front of my face. Please help and excuse my ignorance. ;)

One thing I just noticed is your registered member date was showing expired as of today, 1 Jan...

I discovered a long time ago that I had to register each and every member and set the expiration date somewhere way into the future, or some member services would not work.

Kyle, you see that? When I just went it now after you fixed whatever it was, I found his reg member date to be just floating to the current day...

When I looked, he wasn't assigned to any primary user group. I can adjust the end date, but I thought I set the default to 2030 or something like that. I can look again

so is this an admin only function, or do mods have this capability as well?  if so, maybe a quick block of instructions?

I have been manually setting everyone's date to 2030, but when a guy registers and we approve, he is only good for the day...
Something's going on with this software. I find I have to go back and adjust every new member's expiration date from the admin page.

Nate as for your question, I think you can do it as a global. Admin/members/member name/actions/select registered member...make that selection/adjust date basically as far out as you can...Done!
