Title: New bourbon experience
Post by: TexasRedNeck on April 11, 2017, 10:16:16 PM
So I learned something today. There is an orphan barrel series bottled in tullahoma Kentucky that is barrels of distillers cuts. Tonight I had barterhouse 20 years. Wow. Almost as good as Pappys

About $25 a draw versus $50 for the pappys. This place has the biggest selection of spirits in south Texas. Very impressive

I can only describe it as a bourbon with very little to no vanilla. A hint of rye/wheat. Just my style .

Mmm... sounds good. I like the premise behind the orphan barrels too. Very cool.

It's good, but not 78$ a glass good. Especially considering when it can be found a 21 can be had for about 150.

I paid 90 for the 12year I have and was given a 10, for comparison sakes.

Yeah, I didnt say I paid that.  that was what they were asking.  Its all about the lottery system and being able to get it.  Basic scarcity of resources , supply and demand economics.  People what what is scarce and there is not much of it so there are people that will pay that for it.

You all stay away from Makers 46.......that's stuff is HORRIBLE and not fit to drink.......can't believe they get $36 a bottle for that swill!  I think you all should get your hands on some of the Pappy Vanwinkle while you still can!  Run out and buy up every last bottle of it, 'cuz I hear that it's going outta business.  Next one to snatch-up is Blantons.......Ohhh that stuff is fine and in limited supply too!

I repeat, stay away from the Makers 46............if you have a bottle, send it my way and I'll dispose of it properly for you and replace it with some good ol' Jack Daniels or Jim Beam so you can cleanse your pallet of that paint thinner called Makers 46......

"Boy I hope that drops the demand for that stuff....."  :beercheers:

Blantons sounds amazing in a review. Both of these are made by Buffalo Trace, interesting. I first had Buffalo Trace years ago when I was in Wyoming. I believe I may need to experiment.
