so last weekend while up at Wendy's parents, I was informed of a shrimp farm just south of me by like an hour.  Well yesterday I researched them and placed an order for 2lbs with a pick up of this afternoon.  let me just say, this place is "IN THE COUNTRY".....probably like 5 miles from a paved road!

The name of this company is Rock Creek Aquaculture:  https://rockcreekshrimp.com/

and here is a video from the local news about the place:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfJ8vaCliPM

So the 2 lbs of shrimp that I got from him were deheaded and saut?ed in some garlic butter and were served with some fried cabbage with bacon.  the cost of the shrimp was $18 per lb and they are 20-24 shrimp.  I normally pay $10 per lb and get a 4lb bag of 13-15 shrimp from Costco.  Truth be told, I am all for supporting local business, but not sure if I can do it at double the cost for a smaller take home?  I will give them another try and make a determination from there?

heres the recipe that I used as a base line for the cabbage: http://www.thewednesdaychef.com/the_wednesday_chef/2013/05/spicy-cabbage-with-bacon-shrimp-and-tomatoes.html

oh yeah I did finish my second bacon this evening which is chilling down in the fridge, to get sliced up tomorrow.

Cooking equipment / Re: Thinking of buying this grill
« on: June 11, 2018, 06:05:40 PM »
Nate, I bought an island grill, sink, frig set from Lowes, the ones with granite tops. They were pretty H/D, and not very cheap(but China) and the cast iron burners rusted out within 3 years of occasional use. They were pretty thick also. The large diameter 304 grates also rusted (turns out they were not solid stainless) Now they don't sell that model anymore. urrr

that sucks!

have you talked to a local metal fab shop to see if they could fashion something up for you?

My other Dmax that was tuned by PPEI sounded like a Powerstroke... timing was wayyy too advanced.

Have you taken a look at your Main Injection Timing numbers? It's a PID you can monitor on your CTS.

Kory never did figure that out on my LMM. Rob's tuning did not have the same problem.

I talked to both of them and kory was a jackass self absorbed piece of garbage, and rob was very willing to explain to folks what he was doing and why.

I think TRN has kory's tunes on his dually?

what temp did you smoke it at?

what did you bring the internal temp to before you pulled it?

I am asking, because I think I am going to change directions a little for the nexst one I have curing right now in the fridge.  this time I think I am going to give it smoke for about 4 hours on the lowest possible setting of my rig, and then gonna slowly bring the smoker to temp until I reach 120 internal temp of the bacon.

I am thinking this because....the last one I did, the pieces are getting almost burnt before they are baked to me liking.

I attended a friends funeral yesterday. I have not been to military funeral in some time. I was blown away by the legion riders. They lined the sidewalk in front of the church and then lined the road at the cemetery. His daughter recently retired Navy in uniform standing at attention at his grave. There was not a dry eye when she took the flag off her father's coffin, folded it and presented it to her mother. I get a lump in my throat just thinking about it.

there is a small burner (like on your stove) at the bottom which give it the heat and also is used to make the smoke.  there is a little tray above the burner that you put the wood chips on.

I think the most they will get to is 275deg, anything above that is a miracle.

they work great for jerkey, summer sausage, pork butts for pulled pork.

I met up with my medic from my last deployment back in 2010 for lunch.  he and his family are coming over for dinner tomorrow evening, so that meant i had to trim and season a 20lb angus prime brisket along with prep a italian noodle salad for tomorrow.

Shawn, my buddy actually lives just south of you down in colorado springs.

And just cause mike was crying the other day, so i thought i would rub it in...lol

No pressure treated or green plate on the bottom?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

that is ground contact pressure treated lumber in cedar color, and the bottom of all wood that is touching ground there is landscaping water sealing glue.  that wood says its specifically designed to be used in constant wet areas.

that is the same thing that I made that planter box out of!

by building codes, the green pressure treated lumber of the past is no longer allowed (read illegal) to be used for decking or wet areas.
