Tate- LOL, there are a few other "phrases" the respond to as well, "émigré" comes to mind as well as a host of others!

The story of your sons math BS is what makes me almost giddy (and pissed) that I have only four years left in Education!  God bless his ingenuity in "getting it done" by working smarter not harder!  The sad state of beurocratict Ed. BS is such that his math teacher probably only "learned" one way to skin the cat, so cannot phatheom how your son is calculating his answers, so he MUST be cheating!  Governmental idiots have created such BS that there are fewer and fewer smart kids going into teaching, because they can make more $ with less hassle in the Business world.  This sometimes leaves the dolts who aren't sharp enough to cut it elsewhere to "teach" - blanket statement that isn't gospel, but accurate enough to cause concern within teaching by veterans, seeing what's walking through the doors!  Same is true in Higher Ed. as they don't want to shatter someone's "dreams" telling them they aren't cut out for teaching early on, they wait until the kids in a school student teaching and want the host school to do the dirty work so as to not loose the $ or deal with an uncomfortable "discussion".

Good for you and your wife taking things by the horns-

I understand the frustration with a reduced summer vacation since I had that as a kid and thought it was awesome.  But the flip side is that kids and public school teachers should be happy you still get any vacation at all!  In my world of infant daycare and private school through 6th grade we run year round.  The parents that use our services work a full time schedule, so their kids need school year round.  The only break we get is a 2 week shut down over Christmas.  And even then our parents are all angry that we are closed because it forces them to use their personal vacation time.

So as a "contractural parent" you're providing what ,years ago, our parents/family used to do.  Explains the problems we experience across society- lack of parenting.  Any educator will tell you- kids NEED to be away from school to play, camp, decompress etc.  I've watched things decline in education proportionally for the past 30 years and it is NOT teaching methods - it's the lower and lower aggregate functional intelligence of students, which correlates to the decline of the family etc.

Education has taken on the role of parents and communities and is often expected to teach values, morals and the basic learning that was expected to happen at HOME well before kids went to school, and continued through out their lives.  Now, parents and society expect schools to do all of that on top of educating their kids.  Hell, we even have a school based Health Center with occasional dental services for low income students.

Being a Private School and Day Care provider - you have the ability to decline service/admittance to students.  Public Education cannot do so - you don't have to take students who cannot pay, have severe medical or behavioral needs, or are disruptive to others and the educational process.  That doesn't even start to discuss the Legislative impositions placed upon public education that private institutions usually don't have to comply with.

Was just in a BBQ place in Lebanon, MO that has a sign on the door with a big red circle WITHOUT a slash that says something like, "Guns are welcomed we just ask that you keep them holstered unless a need arises.  We further ask that if a need arises, you practice judicious aim to end it."

I think the place is called "The Pig Pen" and was there twice and everything was REALLY good!

I would definitely frequent that establishment.

Thought of you while I was elbow deep in a "two rib" beef lunch- started wondering why I'd not had beef ribs before- way different than pork - in a GOOD way.......damn it, now I'm hungry!

I almost picked up this one yesterday at Cabela's for my Bug-out kit, but wanted to research more before jumping on it- folds flat and plenty of fuel around for it!  They sell the same made of titanium that I'm considering, though it's twice the $.

Go with best quality you can afford- standard RV mattresses aren't much more than a little padding over cheap springs wrapped in low quality fabric playing the part of cloth.  I was fortunate to get the one my father had custom made to fit an RV by Serta that looks similar to that one Ken, without the air bladder- I sleep as good on it as the one in the house.  Like RN stated, with tilt-up storage underneath, it houses two bar stools, extra bedding, boots, coffee maker, bucket, space heater with plenty of room for some thunder sticks!

For those contemplating purchasing Gold, it's predicted to drop below $1000 in the short term- as Countries like the U.S. and China "play the game" shoring up their financial house of cards.

If you have the $ and the intention of procuring more hard assets, keep an eye on prices and jump in when you feel it's hitting the bottom.

Many of the sheeple playing the "it'll never happen" game don't sense the house of cards the dollar is resting upon- analysts are calling the current Gold price "clearing house" prices.  Gold suppliers are also capable of holding back production to keep the prices up as well.  Silver is also pretty low, so shop that option as well.

Remember, only YOU can decide what is in your financial best interest, but from my back porch it's looking promising right now.

Home made tool for checking toe:  piece of scrap electical conduit and weld 12" - 18" long 1" wide thin sheet metal thick enough to hold itself straight but thin enough to bend by hand.  You keep the pipe flat on the floor and use the flat stock to check the toe front and back at spindle height on tire.  You cut the pipe to a length that suits your needs, or you can rig up an adjustable length one.

Really like the two sided fireplace concept, especially in a house large enough to use it!  Why only see one side of the logs blazing?  Gives additional heat, light etc. so cool choice!

Retired teacher friend of mine built a all natural stone one, double sided, on a lake in Boulder Junction, WI that turned out WAY cool, but required a rediculous footing for all the weight.  Could only do two to four courses of stone a day due to weight and stability waiting for the mortar to cure, so it was a slow process for 3 stories!

Keep up the picture flow- was one of the courses I took in high school, pencil, paper, ink and vellum plans and blue-prints, so I know of what you speak!

Twenty-five years ago, when "Bill & Hillary" where fresh out of Arkansas, my Grandfather had a copy of writings detailing all the shadowy "business" of the Clintons.  My Grandparents retired in Missouri mid' 70's just north of Bull Sholes Lake and an hour from Mountain Home, AK so they were close to the fallout zone of the Clinton's Arkansas adventures!

The list of Politicians, Businessmen and Associates who had experienced sudden and "accidental" deaths is SO high, that anyone else with a wake of death and destruction around them like Bill & Hillary have, would have been indicted many times over!

The travesties perpetrated upon the American People, by Politicians in this century, make the climate leading up to the French Revolution look trivial!  I hope there is a period of time coming, where the collars of Politicians start to "itch" a little........

On a serious note, what about the hard walled styled, fold-out, triangular sides and back like they make for the motorcycle towable campers?  Still hinged at front, no canvas to rott or tear, and if sized correctly, sits atop current topper so rain should flow away and not dribble inside.

I think this is same concept RN is suggesting.

After waiting until yesterday am for the repair place to get around to it, the AC unit needed to be replaced.  Picked it up yesterday afternoon and hooked it up- cooling again for $800.......saved the old one to see if I can get a heating and AC friend to repair it.  Sadly, many things become disposable with designed obselecense - very few repairable parts on an RV AC unit.

Left the unit set-up, leaving Southern Missouri this morning to return there sometime next week- sure enjoyed driving down there, compared to the IDIOTS I live around in the counties of Government cheese and voter stupidity!  One clown cut three lanes to get to his exit infront of multiple Semi's and merging cars, AFTER flying up my backside in the far left lane, and I don't drive slow by any means.....would have been better story if he was in a KIA, but it was a Cheby Im-pailer....almost.

Would also caution those traveling on I-44, those triple strand cables dividing the lanes of traffic DONT stop Semi's.  Cresting a hill south of Cuba, MO I see a tractor trailer parked on the right shoulder- FACING ME!  about 150-200 yards past it, the wires are down with tire shreds on the left shoulder.  Must have missed it by a few minutes.....THANKFULLY!  Didn't see any other vehicles involved either.  Thankful I had to stop to say "goodbye" before leaving.  Remember, The Lord puts obstacles infront of us at times, for our own good- we just don't understand it at the moment of "inconvenience" often, whining and complaining.......thank you God! :)

« on: July 28, 2015, 08:56:26 AM »
Well, of course when camping in 100+ degree heat indices, what breaks on an RV?  Yep, the AC!  My friend, a professional dog trainer, leases a home, outbuildings and 16 acres from a HUGE operation Gas Company and Cattle Ranch near Lebanon, MO and I WAS , plugged into one of the outbuildings.  Second morning there, after overnight down pour, the AC breaker inside the trailer pops, reset and life goes on for awhile, then pops again.  So long story short, replace RV breaker with a 30amp one, as that's all was available at Electricians Shop, RV place and Big Box builders store.  Back in business until next morning after more rain, breaker inside the building blows!

I'd had unit services prior to trip to make sure AC was GTG and had called my reputable and knowledgeable Service guy and we checked out the volt inside the RV etc. and figured it was a starter capacitor going bad along with faulty RV breaker.  Well upon building breaker popping, we started checking out building.......holy s#%£!  -with power off at the pole, half the wires AND GROUND had power going to it!!!  We had a flashlight sized meter that buzzes and lights-up if voltage is present and it WAS.  Used volt meter to check things out. Breaker box was live, ground wire live, cut dangling wires outside etc.

Suffice to say, the goober "in charge" is penny wise and dollar foolish!  Argued that nothing was wrong, until we got one of his guys to come out and verify how goofed up it really was!  Sitting here today watching the circus while "goober" has hired a licensed electrician to HOPEFULLY do it right.

Sweating it out "literally" waiting on final prognosis on AC unit repair which they hopefully get to today as I'm into day 3 of "waiting" to see.

So a big $ operation that "clears" the cost of a new pick-up truck every second of the day in natural gas sales, has a "goober" saving $ doing things "good enough" not able to see the long range cost of a wrongful death suit!?  Did I mention that the trainer has a nice setter he's training for the OWNER's son?  Yep, somebody's job is on the line here and I'm not thinking it's the Dog Trainer!

My uninformed logic Tate, is higher RPMs puts the engine, transmission and turbo in their "sweet spot" zone where turbo spin drops, exhaust flows freely and the coolers run more efficiently.  One reason it's said to not tow in OD is that the torque converter is locked and the trans pumps less fluid thereby building more heat.

Sitting in a small church in Gardner, MO on Sunday, it would seem as if preacher Tim was trolling our discussions, CIEMR and other boards here!

His message was that there is a need for, and an awakening taking place in this Nation!  The minority (Christians) need to stand-up and demand that our voices be heard!  Why shouldn't we be heard, as the minority views seem to be running the agendas of our Government?  We need to be un-appologetic in or demand that Christian values be protected every bit as much as others "rights" that are trashing this once great Nation.  He also delineated the desire of God to Bless his people, not pass judgement.  He WILL pass judgement on those (Nations and individuals) who do not seek his will and live his word......and accept his gift of salvation.  He also stated that a battle is coming......this is the same preacher I've previously mentioned keeps a metal sign across from his porch to perform a mag dump when he has a bad day as a heating and air technician.....

The more this site becomes known, the more we will find our message is more widespread than we know!

My point is, those with children with negative attitudes towards you, hold the course, remain consistent and loving as possible.  They do grow up and learn to think for themselves and come to realize your not as evil/stupid as they once thought.
