Ok, so here’s my rant or vent for this morning.

A little history, two summers ago these two brothers my middle daughters age 7th grade at the time one of which decided to hit her (punch to face) at local park. So Shelby comes home crying, explains what happened. Told her to get in Jeep, she tells me they went home & she doesn’t know where they live. Regardless we find two brothers down a couple houses from their own and I ask them where they live. They point to the house a couple down with both parents standing out front (think present day ward cleaver) so I drive down there and in no uncertain terms explain what happened. The mother is beside herself and the Dad is wondering by the look in his eye how this is going to end as I’m pissed. Long story they apologize and kid then sent into house for whatever fate.

So this morning my daughters are talking about some kid getting bullied at bus stop. My middle daughter again is now talking about walking up and punching said bully in the nose. To which I didn’t have much response other then make sure you finish it if you start it. Mother on other hand didn’t think that was such a great idea.

So hour later I’m taking two youngest to bus stop. While driving there we pass a kid who has some mental deficiencies but all in all is a good kid from what I’ve witnessed. Middle daughter points out that he’s the one who is getting bullied. So we drive on & they then point out that the bully is non other than the boy who punched my middle daughter two summers ago. So against my daughters wishes I pull truck over and roll down window. I then proceed to have a conversation once again with this boy. He admits to picking on the other kid no less & also acknowledges the mental short comings of the other kid. I calmly explain men don’t do that & if I find out that you ever do that again your Dad & I are going to have a much deeper conversation about the matter.

So reflecting I really would like to smack this Dad in the mouth for his obvious failures, I won’t obviously. However, other than his son being respectful to me & not lying when confronted about his actions I’m getting a little tired of the crap this kid is pulling in our community. One thing is for certain had I ever hit a girl as a boy I can guarantee you I would not have been able to sit for a week as a result of my Dad’s leather belt. Rant off

Gun Control / Trump to Sessions “ban bump fire stocks”
« on: February 20, 2018, 05:03:55 PM »
Well, last time I checked the ATF already covered that these weren’t illegal (not on one occasion but two separate times I believe). So if you want to ban something then maybe you should try and write a law to do so. Thank you NRA & for the record Trump ain’t king.......

So one thing about hippy land is they like their liquor. Or maybe it's just the population density that can support these large establishments. However, with having all these breweries in this state I think its the former......

Anyhow so today the wife unit and I made our annual pre Christmas stop at one of these large discount retailers. As my wife picked out several cheap bottles of wine for family functions I strolled over to my favorite isle which is that of bourbon and whiskey. I took several minutes to scan the locked glass cases of very expensive 15+ year old brew. It was just shortly after that I stumbled across this and the name caught my eye......

which made me pick up a bottle and then read the back label and yes one of their products is in fact named Napalm

So I didn't end up buying (I'm a sucker for my old regular Breckenridge manufacturer and they had a second run of a batch I have not tried yet) but wondered if any of you fellows have tried this brand? I will say that normally anything less than $50 a bottle usually isn't worth it in my experience.......

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / US Embassy moving to Jerusalem
« on: December 07, 2017, 09:42:37 AM »
Ok, so anyone paying attention to this?

Couple things to note. First roughly 4 years for us to relocate an embassy. Second every Muslim is pissed & on defensive with commentators constantly saying this will result in blood etc etc.

But then you have Trump who is a negotiator. Everytime this guy gets his hands in anything it’s the end of the world at the start as he sets himself as far from the opposition as possible then works his way back to center gaining ground as he goes. I personally don’t think he has any intention of moving the embassy unless h me can gain enough ground and work a peace deal somehow in the process which I don’t anticipate. But moving that embassy appears to be a very big card we hold that no one else has used to their advantage yet.

Thoughts?

Cooking equipment / New Green Mountain Daniel Boone w/ WIFI
« on: December 01, 2017, 02:08:30 PM »
A week ago I put a text out to Nate that resulted in another phone conversation. Him and I have discussed this before and at the time I was looking used Traeger models. Nate has since shown me the error in my ways and after a good chat about what I want to do he persuaded me to look at the Green Mountain sale they have going on. It was originally a black Friday sale which they extended thru 12-4 officially but you may be able to twist the dealers wrist up until 12-11 at least that was implied if you wanted to take advantage of their special pricing.

So the wife unit & I ran up about 15 minutes to the transwest truck and trailer / rv outlet to take a look this morning as they are the closest authorized GM dealer. So we spent a good half hour discussing our options and decided on this unit including WIFI. For the record I am not a tech guy whatsoever really, however after he went over all the options of the app it was hard not to spend that extra hundred. The sales guy named Sean (yeah I know he spells it wrong but we'll let that slide this time) was very knowledgeable and helpful. We had to back order a unit that he has due in in 10-14 days as he sold the last DB WIFI unit last night.

If Denninger isn’t on your read list he should be, just saying.

Also, I’m not sure on the military angle here so maybe a couple of you such as Don or Nate could chime in and give your 2 cents. Everything else to my knowledge seems spot on as the norm with his writing.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Surprise quote of the week
« on: October 08, 2017, 09:07:03 PM »
…I think a lot of Americans have guns because they’re fearful—and for damn good reason. They fear a coming chaos, and know that when it happens it will be coming to a nation that no longer coheres. They think it’s all collapsing—our society, our culture, the baseline competence of our leadership class. They see the cultural infrastructure giving way—illegitimacy, abused children, neglect, racial tensions, kids on opioids staring at screens—and, unlike their cultural superiors, they understand the implications.
Nuts with nukes, terrorists bent on a mission. The grid will go down. One of our foes will hit us, suddenly and hard. In the end it could be hand to hand, door to door. I said some of this six years ago to a famously liberal journalist, who blinked in surprise. If that’s true, he said, they won’t have a chance! But they are Americans, I said. They won’t go down without a fight…

Tires, Wheels, and Suspension / All terrain tires for the half ton
« on: October 07, 2017, 09:22:53 AM »
So I've put a few miles on the 2016 F150 this year traveling to help mom. With a truck that comes equipped with a selectable rear locker and winter approaching (first real snow due Monday here on front range) I started looking for a better replacement.

I've been getting over 20 mpg on the highway when I drive reasonable and am trying to not affect that much. Heavy loads are hauled on a trailer so a heavy load rate tire is just not necessary. My neighbor run cooper SST's on his tundra & has been happy.

I stopped in the local discount tire today and had them quote me bfg all terrain as well as duratracs. A reminder I do like the duratracs as I have them on the Jeep but did have to replace one when I completely gutted the side wall. Thin side walls are one drawback to them. I then asked the sales guy if he had anything else he would recommend? He put me on to the Cooper ATP as they were a good $20 to $45 per tire less and had a 55k warranty with them. They also are currently offering a $70 rebate on a set of 4 for this model.

So after some more research this last evening & on the recommendation of my neighbor I ordered a set from discounttiredirect.com with free shipping and they do not collect sales tax so they must not have a retail or warehouse operation here in CO. Delivered I paid $732.00 minus the $70 rebate I'll have new rubber on the truck for $166 a corner plus mount and balance. I might add they are also made here in the USA.

With over a quarter tread left on stock units I should be able to recoup some money from stock skins on CL here shortly, we have a winter tire law that requires 1/4" deeper tread or more and if not you can be fined.

Here's a link to the new skins.

Faith Discussion / No coincidence
« on: October 01, 2017, 02:16:22 PM »
So as I shouted out last night the sermon was on men who follow Jesus need other men who follow Jesus as support. There was more to the sermon but that was my main take away at the time.

A little background

My wife and I (family) hit a rough patch a few months back. Looking back today I would say top three worst times at least from my perspective in 15 years of marriage this month. Although I think HH6 would agree it was one of three worst as well. We did the marriage counseling thing for awhile and then things got worse. Our marriage hit an all time low, it was this low that finally broke way to possible correction. In the midst of all this we found our current temporary permanent church. No coincidence the current sermon series hit home. In addition having Christ driven men available to me and seeking Christ's word was huge for me. So there's that.....

Then this morning after a several mile hike to get some Joe & fresh morning air we were then approached by the neighbor lady. Married 28 years, filing for divorce & husband has fallen off wagon with his alcohol problem among other things. The youngest son is a junior in high school & just a good overall kid. Keeps his head down even with family issues & is doing well for himself. Dad isn't doing his job teaching the kid much. So kid is having problems with car, battery issues & I'm stepping in there to help later today once dad heads off to work. Will get kids car squared away etc.

So the other part of the sermon last night I largely ignored at the time was men who follow Christ stepping in to help young men that lack that man. I ignored it at the time because I had no such situation. So once again that sermon is hitting home. Not that I wouldn't have helped before because I would that's just how we operate. However, the coincidence or the overwhelming message that there are none is front and center again.

D.O.T. / 5 mins & you have to get gone
« on: August 07, 2017, 04:28:32 PM »
Ok, so don't ask me why but I'm sitting here and pondering a question. Figured with this diverse group of guys that a question or survey if you will might generate an interesting discussion. So here it is:

You have 5 minutes and then you need to get gone or leave your permanent residence for good no looking back. Emergency situation arises etc.

Criteria, you can take your truck and to keep it simple lets say 6 other items you have at your disposal. What do you take? If you have a BOB we'll give you some credit for thinking ahead & that counts as one. If it resides in your truck on a permanent basis then you get more credit & it counts as a zero. Wife unit & kids count as zero. Mother in law or Kens case H counts as eight! Just kidding except in case of H........

If I left out some obvious rule I should have stated let me know unless your name starts with a K....
