Front axle, tires and fenders. Then swap front t-case output & measure for front ds. Then belt driven ac & oil catch can along with finishing up some electrical mods. Add rear tire carrier and trim rear bumper near back of rear fenders. Should be it....

Dropped off the Dax at River City Diff in Rancho Cordova this am. Said he will have it done tomorrow.

Called to ask for a pic of it when he gets things setup and a pattern pic. He is already working on it, said he used to work for Randys.

You better double check it if that guy used to work for Randy’s!

Ken, Charles, what the heck are you two arguing about exactly? The air line to the bags has X pressure. If it’s enough pressure (more than the leaves) then the spring rate won’t allow body roll. The axle can’t shift side to side due to the track bar. Anti roll bar really isn’t a factor, more overkill....

Even with the high center of gravity & weight I don’t see an issue. The reality is the front corners will squat and become a steering issue before a rear tire lifts and induces a roll. Driving speed will be dictated by front end stability not the rear.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Re: Need some home refi advice
« on: May 07, 2019, 01:23:14 PM »
The only time I refinance is if I can save a couple percent (not sure what the math says but this needs to be a positive for me long term) and or am trying to lower my years to pay off if I plan to live there for sometime. That stated I’ve done it twice over 3 homes and 18 years. Once was a much better interest rate along with cutting the mortgage from 25 to 15 years and other time was simply going from 20 to a 15 year but the second one was an internal thing with my bank and not a bunch of BS fees, just a couple hundred extra a month.

Ok, so once you agree refinancing only has two positive uses which I just outlined above there is another option. It’s called a home equity, I personally make more than the 4% interest or whatever they charge on a HELOC on my invested money. Normally you have to be in a home for 6 months to a year to apply for one. The rates are much better than many other forms of credit and your local bank is who you see for this.

My suggestion would be a mix of the HELOC and what Don stated. Use HELOC to pay off debt, then use it to build shop. Make extra money, use the equity to your advantage not to just satisfy wants etc.

When I got a quote for my brother's place,  from a driller friend,  it was 50k+ for 800-1000 ft....just for the hole.

Charles,  my SIL is a 1/4 mile from our new property and she hit an artesian well,  so they had to build a goldfish pond to relieve the excess water pressure..over 120psi...plus they have a spring fed pond up the hill a ways stocked with bass. I hope I get that lucky on the well.
Wait,  what feeds your pond?

And to add to Shawn's commentary

I saw stretchin' happenin' all over that bolt when I put the electric "twister" on those nutz.

And

Talking to Tater just now, I have a disconnect on my axles fitting

Stock 14 bolt chevy axles are 30 spline 1.5" diameter

Mutant axle axles are 35 spline 1.5"

I have installed a 35 spline Yukon Duragrip

The mutant axles were made to fit the mutant sized hubs with a 5" diameter "hub"

Stock Chevy 14 bolt hubs are 4.482" in diameter

So, my mutant axles are going to have to have their hubs cut down and redrilled to work

Another hurtle!

Stan or Brandon at Branik..... or upgrade to their 300M double ended & splined setup

Since u bolts aren’t supposed to be reused it couldn’t hurt to put a little tack weld on them

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think I've stated this before but the trick on reusing u-bolts is to have them made in course threads. The fine threads are more susceptible to stretch and distortion. I have a friend who sells truck tractor stacking equipment and they use all course thread u-bolts on that equipment and reuse them over and over again.

His decals now say KMI along with Great Lakes OffRoad. Perhaps he can take a minute to explain...

You’re welcome Don, that cover also has an integrated drain machined into it by the way. Need to make sure you put some thread sealant on the pipe plug.

So the KMI, long story short is the parent company of greatlakeoffroad.com.

I sold Great Lake Off Road LLC in Jan of 15, that guy ran that company into the ground after 13 successful years by Tonya and I running it. During the reacquisition process I hired an attorney who deals in business transactions and bankruptcy to write the contract to purchase the GLO assets (what little remained) back. In business and law by my basic understanding there are degrees of separation. Having my new company KMI make the purchase of those assets was one degree of separation. I won’t bore you with the rest but the more degrees the better I am protected from their delinquency.

I could have bought the assets and started a new brand out of the ashes. However, reflecting back now I guess my ego wouldn’t allow that so here we find ourselves.

So with Baylee off dancing with Texas cowboys this weekend.......

Dad gave the tj a much needed front brake job. I believe the PO had new pads thrown on grooved rotors in order to move it on down the road. Old pads were 75% or better and rotor were as smooth as a Michigan highway!

According to Baylee it was making some noise up front. So I installed these and did an oil change with the standard larger capacity filter substituted for the stocker and some Mobil full syn 10w30.

So not sure if this is the correct place but I’m posting it here and Nate move it if you need to...

As some of you know years ago and I’m still not sure why to this day Don approached me and said you need to speak to this guy Ashley from Texas. Honestly, I rolled my eyes similar to the day Don called my shop and the wife told me I needed to stop my weekly 3.5 hour mowing job to call him back. So since then Ashley and I have become pretty good cross country friends, to the point Don thinks we’re related. In the meantime my oldest you know Baylee has become friends with Ashley’s oldest Lexi.

So fast forward to I think it was Weds night this last week. Ashley texts and he’s pretty hot under the collar. Lexi has a boyfriend who decided to dump her a week prior to prom. Add to it the fact that she goes to a small school in little Gary east Texas. Her friends all have dates and after exhausting all resources went back to the clown bf to ask if they could just go to prom as friends. Guy hadn’t even rented a tux. So Dad (Ashley) has a valid reason to be upset in my book. As it were Lexi was now not going to the big dance. You get the idea, hair and nail appointments made and dress bought.

So as we’re texting about this I said “well, Baylee has a dress or twenty.” Immediately Ashley states I wouldn’t ask her to fly down here. To which my reply was “it’s just a short plane ride.” He then does the most stand up Dad thing ever and says if she’ll come I’ll buy the ticket. So I call Baylee up and tell her what’s up, no hesitation she says “I want to go!” So we clear the program with momma and rest is history.

Baylee flew to Shreveport Friday evening and it just so happens Monday is a day off of school for Baylee. She will be back in Denver at 8:30 am. Couple poser shots for you crusty old guys....

Yeah, 4x6 might have been a better choice. However, the 6x6 would be really cool looking and if Ken ever brings H over she could sleep on the top bunk w/o anyone having to worry about it collapsing on them!

Maybe some strategically placed removal of wood would help the weight on those posts? Bore holes from the ends in with a large bit or router out some deep grooves in back side possibly? Could even incorporate it as part of the joiner process, get creative to lighten it up but keep the appearance.

Back to wiring, I finished the fuse/switching panel

The wire from the main battery will attach to the open terminal on the solenoid, then a wire will connect to the bus end of the fuses and attach to the second battery

I know you’re fond of wood tables for welding and all but am I the only one raising an eye brow at this wooden rubber covered mount? I realize it’s a long shot but it something shorts out and that gets hot you don’t think a fire with extra kindling might be a concern?
