Couple of corrections

First the bumper "Shims" I posted are actually the light tabs for the front bumper lights...My bad

Next, have been speaking to Brian. He thinks the front Suburban and 2500 truck are the same, so we should be good with the front fitment. Will know shortly.

I'd say that if I can get the rear to mount up, and I should, then all that remains is sorting out the spare tire/bin carrier arm. Not sure how that ends, but that should remain the only problem.

On cutting off the lower quarter, I actually thought about it earlier. I did it with my Tundra years ago and built a wrap around bumper/slider affair. Not now, but may go that route after the trip as some have suggested, actually those two brothers, Dave and his older brother, Shawn. (He-he)

Shoot, you and Shawn could probably knock out that mod in a day, just crash at his shop for an overnight!

Turner, he referred to Dave as my blood relation. Realize my shop is in a secured gated facility, there is a reason for that......

Just throwing this out there. You can pick up a cheap straight truck and use that to pull your trailer. It can handle more weight and you are not tearing up your pickup.
Stay under 26,000 combined vehicle weight rating and you don't need a CDL.

Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Jon, I’ve drove those types of trucks a lot. Maybe with a seat upgrade and if you could find one with a large enough motor or turbo but the one I drove were harsh and under powered for trailer tugging. I’d personally much rather drive a 1 ton pickup with some creature comforts. I agree if price is what you’re after it’s a decent route.

Can’t believe I’m admitting this but I agree with Dave. Take that lower valence off between rear wheel well and bumper. Fab a set of custom storage boxes in there while you’re at it and make use of the dead space. I like bumper as well it’s just too bad the mounts are that far off.

My 2 cents.  Get a low hours used unit with no DEF/emissions. 2012 or earlier I believe. Much like trucks the emissions is the weak link

You probably don't have enough trailer for a hoe that size buddy.
For a 580K??? What do those things weigh?? 12K? More?

I know that 14K trailer of mine is not enough for my 11,500 CTL.I think I miss it by nearly half a ton. And 16K is all gooseneck. (At least I wouldn't want to bumper pull that much weight)

1/2 a ton in the tuck isn’t a viable argument for load capacity......

Just saying when trailer plates and lights are optional I find that pretty funny!

Don, if you want to run that axle to Ft Wayne I know the guy who sets up the rear rear ends at Dana for testing purposes.

Seth, can put that together with his eyes closed. Let me know if you need his number? He did all our race trucks.
Too far my friend

I'll take the bird in hand. take me 90 min to drive up, drop off and ditty-mau back home.

Or are we talking an overnight deal??Drive up, grab a hotel, load the next day and come home???

Last I knew Seth worked third, worth a shot to call and see what his schedule is. May be able to run up in morning and have him do it then run home. He used to work out of his brothers garage but as of late when axles are in a truck he was using Branik motor sports shop with lift.

He may or may not have once cut a custom set of gears for a rock jock 60 housing after hours at Dana too. Didn’t like the setup he was getting so he made gears to his own specs.....

We walked thru again tonight, looks to be either done or maybe one light coat yet to go on mud and tape (feathered out a good foot or more now). Three boxes of mud left too....

Looks great Shawn. Anyone going to be across the street from you or is your view unobstructed?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Directly out front or to the right no obstruction. To the left there will be a house, however we are a bit higher so it may not obstruct view from loft. There are several houses to left (4 I believe in a row) but as they get farther away the hill drops more so depending we will have views to the south as well just not sure how much until homes are built.

This is the one design I have been thru other than a separate carriage house detached where I think I may not strangle a parent while living with them....

Soil is a sandy/dirt mix. I had no issue walking around for some time out there (actually the best I have moved around in several years, 40 lbs lost help)

I love all the input guys. I have operated a couple skids and regular backhoes, which I am leaning towards. 4x is a must and the BH gives me a little suspension and a little more versatility I believe (correct me?) because of the 3 point options. Trenching, drilling and lifting things. Budget is a concern, but 20k is not out of the picture, probably 30 for a new package deal.

I’m with bear, operated multiple skid loaders and owned a gehl for over ten years. Gehl hands down has best controls, Baylee was running it at 7 years old btw

Has the boss picked out your exterior and interior paint colors?   I really like that three bay windows on the second floor!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That’s the kids loft area on second floor. As far as colors outside yes, they give you a dozen color / roof combos they have put together to choose from and we did that back in Dec along with flooring / tile and countertops. Lennar is our builder which one of top three in the US and our experience with them so far has been very good. One hiccup we had was this last weekend and they are having tile issues getting stock and or moving to next generation. So our old picks on two items were not available. So we had to pick again and unfortunately I liked the old versus any of the new. As far as interior color they paint a single off white throughout. Unlike a lot of builders you don’t get endless options with Lennar. To me I like that and upgrade costs are kept to a min. We can upgrade over the next couple years things we want such as lighting etc. so all in all we’re happy so far.

Indiana. Really?
Not in AZ. I used to think of my state as the last bastion of liberty, the place that used to be called the wild west. Slowly slipping into a leftest retreat, all because of 2 large cities, with 2 large liberal universities, pumping out little marxist demoncrats daily. Rant over

Ken, Indiana by all accounts is still pretty conservative. They keep their budget in check for the most part. Several pro guns laws, lifetime cc, can have a gun in your vehicle on employers property and public schools. Right to protect property with deadly force.

One more reason I love Texas.  You can defend personal property with deadly force.

A few years ago a neighbor shot two gentlemen toting a very large tv out of a neighbors house.  Both dead right in the front yard.  It wasn’t even his stuff but no charges were filed.

Reality is you put cart b4 the horse. Start with the bags, get them on and functioning then decide if you really need track bar which you know you don’t but agree it is a nice feature maybe? A sway bar back there would be more beneficial imo for the high load.

Being that I live in boulder county Colorado (read about as liberal as you can get) if perps are in house (attached garage does not count) I can shoot them. I’m in the right hands down.

However, if they are in my garage or on my property then it’s a toss up and I had better have my t’s crossed and i’s dotted and it not be on someone’s ring doorbell video. Also when dealing with cops I had better remain silent. In any case it’s better to drag them in house and shoot them.  :beercheers:

Easy target until it ain’t, guys getting a hurting he comes after my gmg especially after not being able to use it for 6 months in this tincan townhome rental....

Thinking about this and not knocking white collar guys but I come from blue collar (largest congressional manufacturing district in the US). I’d say 90% or better of my neighbors there would have confronted them. Compare that to the neighborhood I lived in for 4 years where I’d say maybe 50% on my block would have done it. And of those 50% they’re background was all blue collar.

Sign on old shop stated we don’t call 911 & it was true. Neighbor boys couple years ago held a party when single mom was out of town on business. Cops raided them, few days later they asked my daughters if I called cops. My kids all laughed and said dad wouldn’t call cops on you he’d take care of it himself.

Or maybe it is just upbringing, I recall a couple punks stealing gas from my grandads farm at 3 in the morning. Seventy year old man confronting them unarmed in his tighty whites..... I also recall my uncle trying to tell his WWII vet Dad he probably shouldn’t have done that and grandad wasn’t interested in what his kid was saying.
