I was thinking a 3” larger diameter tire so maybe 1.5” taller, no lift and if you need fender clearance there is always a sawzall!

I’ve dropped a few trees, mainly hardwoods. They sometimes have a mind of their own. I’ve even known professionals with steel pins in their legs because one kicked wrong on a drop. Best of luck to you but I wouldn’t be dropping them with that. Cutting them into firewood chunks once on ground is a different story. But then it begs the question of why wouldn’t you just buy a processor attachment for your skid steer and cut / split wood to be able to sell the excess.

I find pushups to be an effective behavior modification technique.  My daughters have to do pushups for many infractions.  20 pushups per lightswitch I have to switch off behind them....

I like this idea....

Uh, yeah I see this going bad as in falling on your head..

Not a great idea for falling timber..

Nate, I was being a smart butt. I saw the air lifts, for me getting a freshly painted / assembled 1 ton axle up in there looks to be a chore. I can think of a few other jobs and too much junk in the way for my liking. Yours is probably a safer unit but as you stated it’s just me who has lifted, rigged and moved many items over the years much heavier than a 1 ton crew cab. Knock on wood the 2 post doesn’t scare me as I’ve used them before.

Wow!

Ken, I used to pour concrete on State & Fed funded jobs. Sewer & water treatment plant construction mostly. The only time we ever poured that thick was on huge holding tanks. You could have just upped the bag mix and saved yourself some coin.

However, I can understand with H around and trying to get her loaded why you might have concern....

Pretty standard people are anxious or nervous about what they don’t know. Once they experience something that is new to them in a safe and controlled environment those fears recede rather quickly. My better half for instance still to this days likes indoor shooting ranges, the idea of a range master makes her warm and fuzzy I guess.....

Part of my theory in raising daughters as a dad was to make sure many of these things (dirt bikes, atvs, fishing, hunting, shooting etc) were introduced by me in a controlled environment. I never wanted them to have to feel inferior around a boy someday who did these things. Downside to all that is it’s a boy attractant.

Yes, and you had stated that was with H in the bed of said s10. I figured I was gtg then?!?

Nice. I’m planning on one in the future so thanks for doing the research.

Just make sure your slab is sufficient for that concentrated load.

So I did speak with Ken when I was researching this for the record. Figured he knew something about them and he did. Wanted to be able to lift a crew cab 4x and he stated that he had no issue lifting them on his lift (fully loaded service trucks etc). So I stayed at 10k lift capacity (saved a little coin). Then looked at rotary, a German unit (can’t recall name) and BendPak. BendPak was one company that made full length uprights (not bolt together). In fact I ran across a piece of marketing material that compared BendPak side by side with Rotary. In the end the BendPak just seemed like a heavier built unit. In fact the shipping weight is several hundred pounds more in fact.

True story, my Dad and Grandfather raised Columbia breed of sheep. They were numbers guys meaning gifted at math (unfortunately I didn’t get that gift for the record). I can recall my Dad multiplying 4 digit numbers faster in his head than I could punch them in a calculator as a kid. Anyhow both of them never graduated college but they were running breeding numbers back in the day before it was the complex science it is today. They spoke at several colleges on this system they had at the time. They also owned the largest Columbia Ram and Ewe in the country at one point.

For the record I know nothing of sheep other than as a kid I got too close to a lamb and the mother ewe butted me before I could make it over the fence. Guessing I was 5 or so at the time.....

By the time I was 8 my grandfather had retired and both him and Dad sold out of that business. Dad always claimed there was no money in it and it was more of a hobby.

Finished getting house ready to list today. Officially on market & showings set up for tomorrow. Have been moving some stuff to the new shop but haven’t spent much time there as wife is still recouping from surgery. All is well there now btw, first 5 days were not fun for anyone under this roof. Need to start running electrical in shop next week. Need to figure out where machines will be setup first....

You need more equip it looks to me and some lights!

Looks like the muts get along good.
More equipment?

Well, sir, what would you suggest?

Should a good CAT 953 or 963 come along that I could afford, I'd be interested in that

Should a Fecon forestry head come available, sign me up as well

The little John Deere tractor is broken down again, so that could be replaced and I wouldn't shed a tear

But right now, I am sitting pretty on most counts (if things would just stay unbroken)

Ok, so exact details to follow at some point in the future with a real build thread.

The low down is I struck a deal with Norm today on an M715 body & frame (minus bed), story is it has no miles. Norm included some extras with this including an NP200 t-case for this build with 800 original miles. With that limited info some who know what I’m talking about should be raising an eyebrow a little right now....

Now the other part is if Norm can figure out how to use a camera we will see two builds get moving as there is an M37 gunna get a cage built too. We hope that this motivates him to get the rest of it assembled. I think he has been planning this for a few years now at least.

That's a heck of a drill.

Shawn, not sure how a hippie such as you, raised such an awesome daughter.

Technically I think it was a concern for this gentleman’s well being. You see momma is in that house recouping and well dealing with Baylee was the lesser of two evils for this person at said time.

So first time in several days (wife’s surgery) was able to get to shop and spend a few hours finishing up the mezzanine. Forgot to snap a couple pics but it is complete. I left off the two 45 degree braces at the back posts. After I put the stairs in and finished floor it was pretty darn rigid. So I’m going to hold off. All in all I calculated pretty good, only thing I ended up extra was a 2x10 & almost 3 full sheets of 3/4 plywood. I’ll most likely use it to make shelves and maybe a workbench top if I need one. Going to move some furniture upstairs tomorrow and clean up my mess. Then start moving equipment. I close on the shop officially weds so then I need to start wiring stuff.

Wife’s surgery went well yesterday, she is now home tonight and doing well. One drawback is she had to come home with a cath, not surprising but hoping it clears up in next day or so and they can remove that permanently.

Thank you for the prayers

Truth be told yes some as it’s familiar, however there is only one of me & if I don’t do it no one else will.

A thought although it is too late

You created steps with a comfortable rise, right?

Your wife is short, right?

Create the staircase with a 12" rise per step and:

1. She will avoid the mezzanine

2. You will get a good leg workout during a routine days messin' about in the G-Shop

Well, truth be told she hasn’t been there since I built the mezzanine!
