Shawn still not tracking.  No pun intended.  Why did they come to your house?

Did they find your daughters friend?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Helicopter Mother it would appear thought her daughter was at my house.

My wife had picked the three girls (3 girls 3 different parents) up from local mall where they had been shopping for school clothes. When my wife picked them up the original plan was to take the other two girls home. However, the girls wanted to go to a youth group event so my wife dropped all three off at the girls house where this girl who has the helicopter parent stayed the night. My daughter was dropped off around 8pm last night by the parent who hosted the sleepover.

So apparently the daughter and helicopter mother had not communicated since 6pm or prior it would appear. Which is why helicopter mom & police arrived at my house at 5am and had been calling since before 4am. Can’t make this up, it’s unfortunate. Helicopter mom is single working professional, according to my wife has some severe digestion related health issues. So reading between the lines I think some prescription meds may have been involved, thinking why she fell asleep early. Just an educated guess on that part in hindsight.

Update is that daughter is being made to write everyone involved an apology letter including PD officers & has life360 on her phone now.

I’m not part of the gps circle, wife’s idea to put it on girls phones. It’s handy when they start dating

According to my youngest she wasn’t part of argument.

I recognized one of the officers, he lifts in morning at same gym as I. Guessing after his shift which makes sense on a couple angles as I always thought he carried himself like a police officer too!

I woke at 5am to the police knocking at our door. Had been awake, saw I had two missed calls around 3am. With business ringing to my phone I set the iPhone so that I don’t receive calls from 11-6 unless someone calls me twice within 3 minutes. Two different numbers I did not recognize at about 15 mins apart. Both hippyland numbers, which I found odd.

So then the knock, ringing of door bell & me half awake / pissed telling them to give me a minute. Get door open, two cops usual staggered formation. The one off the side starts by saying there was some arguemrbt between some girls last night. At this point I know I have the wtf look on my face. Then he mentions my youngest daughters friend’s name and states she’s missing & didn’t come home. Long story short my wife had picked my daughter up at a friends house last night after youth group. Our daughter wasn’t allowed to stay the night. This other girl spent the night and never told her mom or asked I gather. Then said Mom goes to sleep without knowing her kid is home.

So our kids communicate all the time, they have trackers on cell phones & I don’t go to bed until they are home. So when they babysit I’m usually the one staying up until the parents of kids get home from date night. I guess I thought this was standard parenting....

Faith Discussion / Testimonies
« on: August 03, 2018, 11:30:07 PM »
Ok, so this conversation below happened on text today between Mike and I. You may recall he is one I have had you pray for through some extremely invasive surgeries and he was also the one who I sold then bought a business from. I believe I had stated he was raised Catholic but was not practicing, leading up to this huge surgery I spoke with him several times. His wife even confided in me and told me to keep pushing.

My current local pastor once said faith is like growing crops, you plant it and let God do the rest. So after considering this exchange for awhile today I decided we needed a new thread. One that can highlight those crops and how they grow. So please if you have a testimony share it here, I'll start off with the exchange with Mike today.

Back story, Mike has flipped cars for years to make income, at present time it is his only source currently. He has been through a lot, in last few years. At times I was and have been very frustrated with him. In other words it's been very tough being his friend and watching him stumble and get tossed around. I know I've had conversations with my wife about what to do or how I can do more.

Hind sight is always 20/20 and I guess the biggest thing was just being there to listen and give him my take. Patience has never been easy for me, looking back I witness the Lord working to make me be more patient and even though I have been given this lesson more than once I'm hard headed in this regard. So below is our conversation from today, these seeds appear to be bearing some fruit.

"..Something strange. Yesterday I found I had a $50 dollar bill, a $10 and a couples $1s. That was it and i couldnt get my medicine. As a rarity I prayed for help.
Both vehicles sold today within 1 hour by very religious people that told me about their faith. Amazing how things workout."

My response, That's called a testimonial, how cool! :likebutton:

"We grow thru the tough times."

My response, Sure do, I'm glad you had that experience

"Since I'm not able to do much I read a lot. I decided last week that I've spent my whole life judging a book negatively that I've never read. I dug my mother's old bible out of the attic and I'm gonna start reading it."

My response, Start with the New Testament
Read that then go back and study the old. You might want to try county line church too, no judging there and Kruse is a great pastor

"Ok. I'll have to check out which I have. We have a couple around the house of Dawn's."

My response, If I can help let me know

"I'll keep that in mind too. Ok thanks."

5273
Tithe, I would to the church but I already donate to the largest charitable organization in the world aka United States Federal Government!

In all seriousness, we do not give 10% to the church monthly. However, we give when it is asked of us & are open to giving. Plenty of ways to donate 10% & it doesn’t have to be all money either. My 2 cents for what it’s worth.

5274
All great advice with experience to back it up ^^^^

Yeah, “we’re not sure where the SAM sites are, lets roll through and see if they shoot at us”

Can you think of another guaranteed way to find things that people want to stay hidden until they shoot a flying telephone pole at you?

Well, at the width of North Korea or Vietnam I think we could have lined up armored Cat D11’s side by side coast to coast and just pushed. Probably saved some money, lives and won as a result....

5277
Well, you’re doing your research so I think you have both eyes open. The other option and this is coming from a self professed work aholic. However, when my kids were little I worked all the time. Granted I started GLO & then our real estate developments but I know people (one of which is our lead pastor) who picked up evening and weekend work to climb out of a similiar situation.

5278
why Not tap the equity in the house with a low fixed rate HELOC & pay off all the debt consolidating it to one payment. Note you only need to service the interest on this loan on a monthly basis. Sell the fifth wheel & put it towards the debt. Cut out reoccurring monthly bills that are not needed, cable, cleaning lady etc.

Living in a camper for 12 months with two kids does not sound fun to me.

You had professionals at one point in time, society has changed.

I knew of a local outlaw trucker as a kid who had his rigs impounded out of state and they broke them out of the impound lot more than once. Couple times he went to the auction and bought them back versus paying the fines even.

With that said he took care of his equipment. He’d double load on a haul from Indiana to Cali regularly, he always sent a set of wheel bearings with the driver and had them changed out in Cali....

Cleanest looking trucks on the road too. Double the pay half the work, minus parts....

Nate, for the Record it wasn’t jacka** truck drivers as much as it is owners who were pushing the boundaries to make extra money. Regardless of what we did or were instructed to do my salary and our drivers never made more.

& I realize what you were saying, just a clarification.

Like was stated, best bet is not to pull company equipment with personal truck. Again I understand been there done that too.

D.O.T. / Re: WDYDT (What Did You Do Today)
« on: August 02, 2018, 12:33:45 AM »
Dave, the newer DOT rules are a bit fuzzy to me and I’m sure someone who deals with it often will clear it up. I do know that our 1 ton dually trucks hooked to a 25k GN we’re viewed as a semi and required a cdl (again fuzzy as I cannot recall the class if it was A or B etc). I’m guessing the 22k is combined, probably makes a difference on 3/4 ton versus 1 ton too.

The other thing is your truck is personally owned and their are rules that go along with that as well. For instance my personal 1 ton could pull my personal enclosed GN but the company owned truck could not pull that same GN without the required CDL even by owner of company of said truck.

And part of the reason this is fuzzy is that when the new DOT rules came thru & after getting pinched a couple times we hired and outside consulting firm who specialized in such matters to help fight the fines and get us in compliance. So her and my secretary / records keeper worked on this a lot more than I.
