As always the comments section is entertaining if nothing else. Oh and if you have manufactured a machine gun make sure you register it during this next amnesty they are proposing as if someone who would break the law and do such a thing would then turn themselves into be taxed on said item.

Let me first preface this by saying I am 40 years old. So to some just a kid and I have no college degree to back it up. I have a very diverse background in business. The one thing I can say to that is do what you enjoy otherwise you will never succeed or stay with it.

The first thing when it comes to money, it is all Christ's. In business when the wife and I make charitable contributions (this typically went to a family indirectly so as to be anonymous) we received back what I believe is ten fold. It is amazing how that works but when they say give until it hurts they mean it. And do not give based on what you think of said family, we gave based on need alone. I once gave to a family I despised, long story short they were clan affiliated at a very high level which means they were very corrupt. I knew this yet felt compelled to still help. I did so for their children, that was my sole reason for doing what we did. I have no regret.

You may also give and completely forget you did so. This happened to the wife and I right after we were married, we gave to someone to help get their well fixed. It was a lot of money at the time for us. We did it because they had no one else to help them. We bartered the work out over the next year or so being paid back in full. We forgot about it, last year during my visits back to Indiana I ran into them and they reminded me. It took me a bit to recall, they had not forgotten. It was wonderful to recall that and how it helped them.

Second, do not do what the majority of the population is doing. It's usually a losing proposition, there is scripture to back this up. Probably one piece of advice my Dad gave me that I took to heart, 401k's come to mind.

Third, my best friend was a financial advisor. He became one shortly after filing BK. If you allow someone to manage your money well, that's on you to hold them accountable. I know several dozen, one is extremely smart and also what I believe is a devote Christian. I plan on meeting with him soon, I have never used one before btw. With that stated he comes highly recommended by people I respect. He also employs my children so he can go to bible study, my kids sit for his kids. I've known of him for several years and each and every interaction has been his interview with me unbeknownst to him.

Fourth, read a lot! I probably read more than I should. But being well read allows you to be knowledgeable about many subjects. After the 2008 crash and losing a good portion of my equity, I read a lot. Mainly about the crooks in finance who were held unaccountable. I also dove into all of these concocted schemes finance guys come up with to make money. As they say knowledge is power.

Fifth, working regardless until I die, I plan to never retire 100%. I do not plan to be working for someone else at retirement age. Those two things are honestly goals and nothing more. Again, most want to retire, I do not. See the trend here, it applies to many things.

Sixth, I study people and their actions and consequences a lot. Cheapest way to learn is by some one else's expensive mistakes.

Seventh, if you come out on top in business dealings 51% of the time you win in the end. You will lose a lot.

There you go, my thoughts on money. Be good!

If you could do an eight door conversion on it, I might be interested. At least then there would be enough seats for everyone in the family.   Of course I might need escort vehicles and a couple of people with flags for directing parking in the grocery store lot.

lol maybe..... but I probably saved you some jail time. This is how it really happened.

Guy runs his mouth, you want to educated him. Then you think about how much crap I would give you that you got arrested in flip flops and hemp socks.  :cheesy:

Norm, I never go into large crowds in flip flops (they actually make hemp socks? who knew!) and for the record I just wanted them to go away along within everyone else within 30 foot radius.
I was at a gas station when a car full of illegals pulled up and immediately threw out their trash onto the ground. Without thinking, I just shouted, "Pick it up." They looked at me like with this how dare you expression. They left when I did not budge, probably thinking I was a cop. What they didn't know was my 9 was a couple feet away, and at the first sight of a weapon, I'd have capped all four of them.

I spoke at a latin church saying my views about this illegal attitude of entitlement. The people listening, mostly illegals agreed with me. They don't like these creeps either. I'd say when the opportunity arises, we hand them their asses and refuse to tolerate unamerican anything.

Let’s be clear, entitlement knows no race. This last Christmas a week prior I go into local post office with a mile long line. Older guy white guy (baby boomer age) sees me coming and is packaging up a box on a counter in lobby. He rushes to get it sealed up and in line before I get there and leaves his trash all over counter. So as I’m standing behind him I ask is that your trash rather loudly so all can hear. He looks back at me in disbelief and then at the trash. Then has the audacity to tell me not to worry about it. My reply went something along the lines of well if you knew enough to pick up after yourself I wouldn’t have to.....

I sent these to Don yesterday for reference if anything to know his market as he gives these away and how great a gift they actually are in fact. We were up at Cheyenne Frontier Days, granted it's a fair and price is negotiable I'm sure. However I think these are of similar quality to what Don is building. In Cheyenne with family today enjoying frontier days, concert tonight.

It was a good day up until an incident at the concert with some drunk fellows who are of Mexican descent.

First time I have been called a white man as a racial slur, I’ll admit I laughed & found it slightly amusing.

By the grace of god I held back from swinging and two other fellows ended up in jail as a result this evening.

I was bought a free beer even, apparently I wasn’t the only one tired of their nonsense.

My wife and I were heavy in real estate, we came out still making good money at the end of the day but compared what it was “worth” prior to 2008 we got hammered!  I laugh now but I was pissed for several years about how that played out.

As Charles stated I don’t give investment advice. I know what I do and it’s because I’ve had experiences which is a nice way of saying it cost me money to learn. A good education is never cheap!

Dave, if you’re getting 10-12% or more growth year over year I think you’re doing extremely well. A typical financial advisor will normally tell you to figure 8-10%

On a similiar note up until the last month or so most of the reports I was reading were looking for a market correction soon. I’m now reading more that are contemplating the DOW J going to 30 in the near future. Not sure I buy that but time will tell.

Phil, as you can see this shows just over 36# and there were several lead wheel weights on this I have yet to remove. So I'd say just shy of 36# plus PVC which maybe 10# or so if I had to guess it will be under 50# per wheel plus tire.

Ouch 46lbs, plus tire.

Better then those 20 inch military beadlocks running around. By the time you add a steel adapter I bet those wheels are 100# each

H1 8 bolt wheels weighed 33# without pvc & the 12 bolts weighed 38# so relatively the same. At the end of the day 38-39 inch tires aren’t exactly light either.

Edit: Phil, so you got me wondering. I researched & found where a stock H2 wheel weighed in at 31 pounds. So considering the added benefit of the beadlock I don’t think 15-20 pounds heavier is too bad really.

The PVC is also much lighter than the rubber insert, less rolling mass and better fuel mileage as a result. Weight on your tires robs HP too, there are times when the skinny pedal is needed to get momentum over an obstacle. Well the little turd 3.8L needs all the help it can get in this department...

What exactly do you mean with the pvc pipe?

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Makes the double bead lock work

It is of the same ID as the OD of the wheel drum minus the flange

It is inserted between inside the tire, between the beads, which is no easy task, then the assembly slides onto the drum part of the wheel. Once you secure the bolt on flange part, the tightening of the bolts squeezes both the inside and outside of both beads against a flange of sorts. That keeps the tire bead locked in place even when no air pressure is present

Shawn, did I do OK?

Yes, exactly I just added some pics and videos to keep the DOTing to a minimum. You know look shiney object!   :likebutton:

These wheels along with H1 Humvee wheels are in fact a 3 or 4 piece wheel from the factory. They are military grade in the fact that the original design was to get a heavy vehicle back to base after an attack in which the tire may be shredded or deflated. They had in them what they call run flats, which were of one of two designs either a rubber insert or a magnesium insert. For off roading purposes the idea of being able to run low air pressure off road to gain better traction on uneven surfaces and improve ride quality is of utmost importance. In addition to being able to run the low pressure locking the bead also is a safety factor on extremely steep terrain. I have witnessed more than one insane rollover / crash where a bead let go and the vehicle then tumbled. The problem with the run flats as the military or border patrol in this instance uses them is that in stock design you can tear a tire as when you lower the air pressure the tire can get pinched between a stock run flat and the object the tire is making contact with such as a boulder etc. I personally used to run the magnesium inserts and cut them down on a large vertical bandsaw. These border patrol wheels only used a rubber insert and they are less than ideal and not able to be modified as the magnesium run flats can be.

Example of PVC in a H1 wheel setup
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7e82MN43OWs

Example of H1 wheel with cut down magnesium inserts
http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/wheels-tires/131-1210-diy-hummer-h1-wheel-recenter/photo-07.html

I have spoke with andy at trailworthyfab and even though they have built these PVC water pipe inserts for the border patrol wheels he is asking for a wheel to measure. Not sure why exactly, after speaking with Norm we know of another guy who we think makes them and Norm has his cell number and knows him personally. So he was going to reach out to him and get his thoughts on it. Both companies are respectable and were compettion on the H1 parts for years with GLO. In many cases I have sent customers to them for items I did not carry or they just had a product that fit the bill better in some way for the customers application.

As promised here is a picture of the wheels. These are known as border patrol wheels. Made by Hutchinson they are a two piece aluminum wheel with a mount pattern of 8 on 6.5 and have a 0 offset on a 16 inch wheel by 8 inch wide so that amounts to a 4 inch back space.

Norm has some of these that were apparently salvaged from the titanic and after offering them up for sale decided they were not something he wanted to sell in the shape his were in currently. He told me a month or so back he knew of a set of 3 that were for sale. At the time I passed as who needs 3 wheels and these are hard to come by.

Then a couple weeks back I found a set of 4 for sale about an hour south of me. After much pestering I finally was able to meet that seller and buy these 4 in the picture. Now the slight issue with the 4 is that two were opened up to fit a Dana 70 rear axle hub on a Ford. Unfortunately they way they opened them up was with a die grinder instead of a lathe. So I purchased the 4 thinking worst case scenario I would have all 4 turned out to the same inside diamter and run them. After I purchased this set of 4 I asked Norm to see if he could get the set of 3 still. He was able to buy them for me as a result and so now I should end up with a set of 5 unmolested wheels. The extra two I can sell pretty easy as many guys bought these as a set of 4 and are looking for a fifth spare unit.

The idea on these is to acquire PVC pipe to insert into the tires and lock both beads. I will have the front unit bearings on the superduty axle machined for the 8 on 6.5 pattern and drill the rotors. That axle is approximately 2.875 inches wider than my rear 9 axle. The currie 9 will accept stock brakes from the Dana 44 jk axle so I will have adapters machined that will bolt to the stock 5 on 5 pattern and then adapt to the 8 on 6.5 pattern. These adapters will be machined from 1.375 inch material and keep the rear just shy of the front width. I call that a win!
