Not my build thread boss........ & JR it’s hippy land, I’ve welded in less footwear! But I did get to use my new instant on weld helmet today, wow all I can say is when I can see the weld (meaning the screen isn’t flashing on & off at random) I weld way better!! my old helmet has been giving me fits for awhile now. I just didn’t realize to what extent. Here I was thinking I was just out of practice, that is not the case apparently. Lol

OSHA has never been allowed in my shop, it’s too dangerous for them & they might get hurt.....
I’m not joking either.

Got it stripped down today, test fit all the parts. Had to drill a hole & ream some others. Modified one part that just wasn’t going to work in stock form. Welded & painted new mount & modified part. Baylee will most likely post a full review of the build once we finish up tomorrow. Paint was just taking forever to dry today so we called it quits after about 5 hours. I’ll leave you with this, she showed up late and had camo shorts which I forgot to snap a pic of as she rolled in groggy eyed. No fuzzy socks this go around..... Edit: oh & she fixed her non functioning speedo with the help of Dave our great neighbor who owns a 96 xj & does all of his own wrenching.

You don’t get your tires balanced? Do they come balanced ?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I mount the tires and have them balanced, I don’t have it done when they are rotated. Off road tires get beads.....

I never have them balanced, but since I have been ordering all my tires online from discount tire direct now I rotate them myself. I won’t pay $15 or $20 to have it done....

IDK, lol we'll see how it all plays out. I will be building the diff covers and other components here. Wheel parts for time being are being built and processed in Indiana still.
So anything for mine? Plans for it?
No, lol Honestly, haven’t thought that far ahead. My opinion is there’s a market there though, I will be addressing the GLO product line in stages. Some stuff will no longer be available (once I fire sale some inventory) and more parts will then be added. There will be many conversations between now and where I end up so maybe we should discuss more. I know you were wanting bumpers, but I’m sure there are other weak spots to address as well on that Jeep.

GLO Update
So after spending an hour on the phone with the credit card processor we can now accept payments......
I also deleted the facebook link as I will not be using that (at the moment) and changed that button to Sq D thread here, GLO is also no longer sending heathens to DMAX site for CMAX but to here and maybe they will find some useful information and a cadre of great men!

turned out nice Nate Suggestion on the pipe clamps, buy only 3/4” pipe clamps and get the ones built by pony. I’ve destroyed every brand they make including the pony. However, the pony brand seem to take much more abuse prior to failure. Just my 2 cents

Shower looks good, but why did you grout the wood????????
Know what you mean Sean. Moms alert went off today at 0620 and was a false. Neighbor and fire were there before me (10min). Really getting worried about her. She is just getting tired of being tired,,,,,,,,,,
Yep, mine should be in assisted living. He doesn’t want that & I understand so it won’t be pushed yet. He is just tired, the fight has all but left him. That I think is the hardest part to see. At present time he still has the ability to come and go as he pleases. He’s fully aware of the situation getting worse and has acknowledged changes that need to take place and getting people in to help on a regular basis. In his case I don’t see this going on much longer, his health is deteriorating quickly.

Grinder stand looks nice, best mount I had was one with a 4” sq tube coming up from a steel truck wheel and a pice of 6” channel at the top. I like the grinder mounted to a wheel as it’s easy to roll whenever you need if/when you move it.
As far as vice I think table mounted is best, mine gets beat on a lot. A post in a bucket of Crete wouldn’t last long for me but to each his own.

So I’m in Indiana as of 2100 yesterday. Today started early with GLO oriented meetings then collection of assets I purchased back.
As of 1400 today I visited my Dad who is now 81. This turned into a 5 hour job of cleaning his place & making arrangements for several things to help him with his on going needs. He’s not getting around good at all, it is amazing the change I have witnessed in him in 8 to 9 months since I was last here. Needless to say my trip itinerary has been changed and extended so I can get him squared away. Also have new contacts for neighbors who have been concerned and are willing to keep me better informed as well. Rough day in all, hopefully tomorrow is better.

Don, sorry about your daughter hope she comes out ok. Yes, was at Ashley’s place, pretty cool setup if he ever decides to visit us and give an update. Can’t say I’m not a little envious of this home he he has now. Charles, didn’t realize you were that close. Wife and I are talking about going back down in next year. Direct flight from DIA to Shreveport daily I think now.

Ok, so this picture was taken last night in east Texas at guess who’s new place..... Yes that is my truck & that is in fact a five foot wide x three foot tall real man cooking machine right there. Don, I think you need this for your new fire pit area. It worked great btw as I waddled away stuffed afterwards!

I always used the three point tiller on the pot holes in the gravel when it was wet. Then drag it & drive over it slowly a few times.

Quick update tonight...Date night with the prettiest girl in the world, gonna be a big one. Musical, 4-star dining...
So first up, and JR, pay attention, here is the heat shielding I picked up from Summit. I have used this on my Shelby Cobra kit car, on trucks and cars everywhere. Stuff really works to reflect and contain heat
PN’s on heat shielding?

Has that thing been sitting halfway outside the garage like that the whole time, or have you been rolling it in and out everyday?
Nate, it’s KY they know the mice have to have a nice home too so they just leave the garage doors up all the time in the high rent areas..... I’m sure there is a liberal cause that doing so helps too! You know what’s mine is your’s and all that, community......

Dave, they start out just under $3k bare bones for this model. With options I had just under $4k delivered. I was pigeon holed a bit as the boat comes in once every four months or so it appears & I bought on tail end of shipment. I needed a machine & this had almost everything I wanted. It also has power down feed which is a nice option that I never used on my Bridgeport. Some guys for what they do boring holes etc use that frequently. For the record I sold my Bridgeport in prestine condition for less than I paid for this. Two differences though one the BP has a much larger footprint is hard to disassemble or reduce weight to move as it weighs a ton literally. Then you also have to convert to a single phase motor or run a converter. I ran a converter & the drone of that even in another room is annoying. If I had my pick I would have the BP with a single phase motor conversion.

I forgot to take pictures of me leveling the base however the PDF manual I had already printed and had it spiral bound for longevity. In it they gave a nice floor layout that did help in planning for positioning of the base in my cramped shop. Of note the base weighs 350# roughly but I easily moved it by hand into place after installing the hockey puck levelers. The mill itself then by my math would weign it at half a ton. In the manual it states to not use an engine hoist at a position of less than 1.5 ton setting. My guess is liability, with the skid under the crate and using an HF 2 ton the reach at 1.5 ton lift would not allow you to get close enough. I did exactly as the manual stated. This is a picture but realize there is no tension on the sling being that the lift is at the half ton setting..... I then magically placed blocks under it so I could grab it from the front side. The manual also states this is a two man job at bare minimum, glad my alter personality showed up to help. For the record it showed up with the illiterate door hanging solicitor disregarded my little sign on my porch as I was working on this with the garage door open. Thank heavens he arrived or I never would have been able to do this by myself...... So alignment of the holes can be tricky, they tell you to use wooden dowels or something and then drive them thru. Which would make sense except that the holes have a bottom and those wooden dowels would end up in the way of the bolts. So I er my alter personality just used 4 dog peckers...... Here it sits as of 1600 today Shelf will need massaged so door will open

Thankfully you didn’t choose to paint it green or orange......
It appears you used studs on that cover too? I believe the upgrade hardware kit is going to be a new option too. We have a great hardware supplier here locally (read patriot type guy) who wholesales and I want to use him as much as possible.
You don't remember, but when I first installed that cover, I asked you what was the best way, and you told me to use studs
So I purchased a piece of threaded rod and cut out a bunch of studs from it, and the rest is history...

While I had them out, I cleaned up, sanded, and painted the front shocks. Funny how clear coated stainless will rust like they did this past winter.
Cheap grade stainless will rust obviously
Yea, concur
And isn't it something about how the manufacturers tout their using only the best of parts!
So, can we trust anything we hear to pan out as truth?????

Birkenstocks?? tisk tisk... I guess you do live in CO though... ;)
All joking aside, bumper looks great!
You know, I wouldn't be able to tell a Birkenstock from any other brand and both my wife and daughters wear them just saying......... you related to Al Bundy? So slight update, we haven't done any real work on it in a bit. I purchased steering and track bar system on March 27th and still do not have all of the parts. At this point I am not recommending Cavfab.com for anything and I spoke with the owner a week prior to purchase. More to come shortly.

I moved a couple axles out of the way, outside storage under a tarp. Cleaned up the shop, all the steel shavings etc got swept up. Then spring spray down of floor washing all nastiest out and down the street to the sewer. All prep for that new mill that left chi town yesterday at 1300 headed for its new home.

Bobby, once you get certified where are you going?
Eventually I'd like to take Rescue Diver, Ice Diver. Not really looking at ever being an instructor, this will probably be a hobby for me.
Here I thought you were getting certified for a vacation activity. Are you volunteering on a local fire Dept or anything?

So they processed the order in 3 days, the machine shipped out in two crates yesterday leaving PA. As of this evening it is loaded on a trailer in Chi town, should see it early to mid next week I think. I paid extra for the home delivery with lift gate, figured at 1300#'s I'd rather wheel it into the garage and have it on the floor versus trying to unload it from my trailer with an engine hoist.
