I wouldn’t pay that for it. Burners only have 10 year warranty.

That's my only concern with it, aside from the price.

I have a gas grill that is over 10 years old, it has cast brass burners that you can remove and clean out, it has the IR Sear function for steaks, and the funny part was/is....my ex wife bought it at Walmart on clearance for like $250 (or something like that).  that thing is huge and still works like a charm to this day.  the only issue I have with it is the busted wheel that one of my STUPID lieutenants broke as he was dragging it across bricks.

I currently have a Walmart grill that's prob 8-10 years old & still operates fine. I just wanted something a little better quality. I will see it in Person on Sunday & see if it's worth it.

The units mount as any split system does. Standard lines were 16ft, I got 25ft lines.

Ext unit has a bottom drain right onto the roof, but I will run a short line from there to the gutter.

Interior unit has a drain and there is vent line from the washer/dryer under it so it will be plumbed into that. I could drain it to the roof also, but the vent being there should work great.

Unless you're going to trap the condensate line, I'd dump it outside. You don't want sewer gasses coming into the unit & being spread all over the room.

So finished reading. Your scattered light is a product of the incorrect light bulb in the open housing.  If you use high quality projectors with the "eye lid" that opens and shuts with your high low beam function. You will simply smooth out the "hot spots or flare" and allow the beam to shine smoothly.  Let me see if I can find some internet examples

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I installed the recommended Retrofit HID Morimoto kit. That should have been fine I would think
I ordered new housings which I thought were OEM, however checking the Amazon order, they are ArtZone OEM quality Chinaman units:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UW09QJE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The low beam H11 bulbs have three tabs which do not precisely match up to the openings in the bulb socket (Quality issue??) And I do not get a positive stop when turning the bulb to "seat it"

That may explain why I have a line of light going off in a strange direction, I don't know.

I do have the reflector like pattern and not the crisp break in light pattern of the shown projector housing

I just looked at the black housing you bought prior to the OEM set & they appear to be a projector style housing. I'd try the Morimoto kit on that housing, do just one side & do a side by side comparison to see if the light is more focused. I apologize if I led you down the wrong path & cost you money, but I still stand by the Morimoto brand.
Hey, don't worry about it
You were only trying to help
As for the current situation, I adjusted these new housings down to their lowest position and I started to see a coordinated/useable pattern, although it has hot spots and washes out areas. I brought the light up in increments and have something which I think I can use. Now the high beam lights are actually visible and not just filling in the area of the broadcast light. I'll give it a night of way back roads driving tonight/tomorrow and see how it is working out. I'd like to just be done with this.

Update?

The quality projector lens acts like a led flashlight. Where it focus the light evenly vs the hot spots

When high beam is used that solid cut off line is removed allowing for a full amount of light.   I have and will continue to preach the right light in correct housing will offer the best light.   But a quality HID kit is the better option than cheap Chinese junk. As you have found

FWIW, my Morimoto kit is installed in a factory projector housing. This could be part of his problem.

I have said this along with others. Do yourself a favor, dump the eBay headlights, get a fresh pair of OEM housings & buy the kit below. I've had these on my Canyon diesel for over 18 months now & they just plain work. 18 months doesn't sound like a long time to develop an opinion, but whey you're talking about an HID kit it is...

DDS: Time for a long term ownership review?

I for one would like to know about this mini D-Max engine, and especially after it has seen some miles/Time...

Ask & you shall receive, current ODO is 23K
I will start off with the BAD:

The truck left me stranded & was towed back to the dealership 5 times in the first 6 months of ownership. Three of those were related to a loose starter wire, the other two was a bad BCM/ECM. I attribute these issues with first year production bugs along with poor workmanship at the dealership. The power characteristics is something that you have to get used to, it's not a rocket by any means but has plenty of torque. Passing power is a little low, but again, it's a truck.

Here is the GOOD

The truck gives a comfortable ride, super quiet inside & very easy to maneuver/park in city areas which is key.
The sound system is excellent along with plenty of interior amenities
Most important to me is the fuel mileage. Although this truck is capable of towing 7700#, my hitch will never see more than dust so I cannot comment on towing. If I baby it on the highway (55-60mph) I'll easily get 35+mpg. My problem is my other vehicle is a Vette & when I get in my truck, I think it's a race car & go 80 on the highway which kills my fuel economy. Going a steady 80, I'll achieve 25-27mpg which I think is still good.

Given all the issues I had in the beginning, I'd buy another one tomorrow in a heartbeat. When my warranty expires, I plan on doing a full delete & will see a 2-3mpg gain. Since I received it back from repair 9 months ago, it's been flawless. I truly believe I just had a couple bugs in the beginning that initially left a bad taste in my mouth. I would recommend it to anyone who wants the fuel mileage of a compact car with the practicality of a(midsize) truck.

On the drive home, yet another LED headlight burned out!

This is amazing...This cheap chinese junk doesn't last anytime at all. What 3-6 months tops? I don't even remember how many bulbs have been in and out of those headlights...Easily 5 sets now.

This latest set, Bowvine or something like that were the absolute worse. With this burnout, that makes four failures in the past 12 months!

Buy yourself a set of Moromoto HID's & be done.

...But wait, there's more!

I think this newer truck might be wearing the new 8 speed transmission...

Anyone know?

It will only be offered in the 6 speed for now. I can attest to the engine because I have one in my Canyon. I achieved 38mpg on a 100 mile round trip btw...
Is yours stock or tuned?

Sorry I'm just seeing this. My truck is completely stock with 17K on the odo.

I had flushed the line well so little was in there, but what was there was not pretty.

I made up a fitting and used rubber slip couplers to tie it all in. This also let me angle it just right for the line coming over.

I then snugged up the zip ties I attached to the beams giving the pipe a 12 in drop in 20 ft.

Worked like a champ and the disposal now does not backflow at all. Good training for the bathroom I am adding upstairs.

The only bad in all this is the pipe is right in the center of the crawl space, center of the house and perpendicular as well so you have to go over/under to get buy.

More pitch is not necessarily better especially in a kitchen sink drain. You should have 1/4" per foot of pitch on 1 1/2"-3" pipe & 1/8" per foot of pitch on 4"+ pipe. So in your case, 5" of drop. Too much pitch will cause the water to surpass the waste which will clog the pipe. I see it all the time. I've been a licensed plumber for 18+ yrs.

I'd search CL for a generator. I have a Kohler 12KW lp generator I purchased slightly used off of CL for $2K. My house is 1300 sq/ft. I can(& have tried for testing) turn on every possible thing in the house & it doesn't skip a beat. Keep in mind, just a hair dryer & iron uses about 2.3KW when turned on. I wasn't going to tell her she can't use that stuff when the generator is running, not worth the argument.

Shawn isn't the service life shorter on in ground tanks?  I seem to recall that as one reason I decided on above ground.

A properly installed propane tank with a good bag of anode wired to it will last 30+ years. My neighbor is a propane installer & has personally removed rented underground tanks that were 20-30 years old & were in great shape. The weakest link is the wire to the anode bag. in my situation, Keep this in mind, I had to pour a 10" pad & strap my tank to it because of my water table. A buried propane tank will float if the area gets flooded. In Mass, where I'm from, a 500 gallon tank, up to 200' of line & regulator goes for $2,500.00 installed.

D.O.T. / Re: "A Cup of Joe" the Quoffee thread!
« on: June 29, 2016, 07:34:26 AM »
Let's start the day off right!
Post a pic or a story of a great cup of Joe, or "Quoffee" as my friends in New York like to say.

And for me, every morning as I raise my cup, I'll say a little prayer for the men and women on this site

Today's:

Father it is a great day, thank you for it! Thank you for my friends who I have met on this web site. Bless them in some special way today. Encourage them, stand beside them in their struggles, strengthen them as they strive to be strong men of God. Show them how to lead, as it is said in the Rangers, to be a tab bearer, not a tab wearer. Give them wisdom and make them of clear mind. Let them be lovers of the truth and hate what is evil. And, Father, give them, each one, something to do for the kingdom, and in the name of Jesus, I say thank you and amen.

Don,

thanks for the prayer, but I must say, that looks more like coffee milk...

so just a little update, my mechanic buddy cleared the code. He told me to run as much pump diesel as possible & see if it comes back on. he'll reset it once more if needed. after that, i'd have to start replacing NOx sensors. wish me luck.

Be very careful in adjusting the fuels in your common rail engine. Phieso-electric injectors work on specific pressures. Different materials have different degrees of compressibility. So if the injectors think they are squeezing diesel fuel, but are actually squeezing HHO, which is slightly different, there will be an effect.

But isn't HHO exactly the same ULSD except for the dye?

HHO ?

home heating oil, yes. funny, well sad that as i'm typing this my check engine light just came on. P20EE is the code. i may have just shot myself in the foot adding HHO. i put in approx 6 gallons last week. i really hope this $12.00 in savings doesn't cost me thousands & void my warranty on a truck with less than 3,000 miles.

just a quick update, I now have about 2,500 miles on the odo. my last fill up netted me(hand calc)26mpg. that was roughly 70 hwy & 30 city. I'm also starting to mix in HHO that i get from converting oil heating systems to Nat gas.

Watching with great interest.  What do you expect advertised towing numbers to be 6500?  I see it has the turbo brake

Not a lot of info is out yet. heck, the salesman doesn't even know the exact price of the diesel option. from what I've read, towing should be around 6700.

Good idea...

It's long overdue they put a diesel in a smaller pickup. If the mileage is as good as anticipated, I bet they sell a lot of those.

Do you know, are they only offering the diesel in the higher trim packages? Or is it available in the work truck style trims too?

I believe it will only be an option on the higher trim pkgs. when the salesman added the diesel option, it automatically added forward collision alert & lane departure warning as well. those options are only available on the higher end models, so that would be my guess.

My fully loaded crew cab Canyon is $37,xxx.xx the salesman quoted me an additional $3,200.00 for the diesel, so I'm at approx $41K+ tax, title & reg
That sounds interesting. Let us know what you think about it when it gets in. My brother-in-law is a sales manager at a GM dealership. I might have to set up a weekend test drive for one of these things if they get one in.

I will. I'll also start a new thread.

Other Duramax features and specs:
181 horsepower at 3400 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 2000 rpm
Segment-first exhaust brake uses engine compression to slow the truck down, reducing the amount of conventional braking needed while driving downhill
Includes an integrated Trailer Brake Controller
