Next project was to connect the water shed to the street water hookup of the camper and complete that mission.

I love this PEX stuff. FOrget about the old technology, this stuff is all you ever need to know about!

I spliced in a "T" here to supply the outside hose

Shed is getting crowded with all the necessary toolage one needs to service all the junk, which one needs to make a mess of one's property.

And knowing Don's third rule of tools, "Tools begat Tools" I am constantly adding in stuff. But, know what? Everything is getting used down there. These T-handles were a sale item at Northern...

Cudakidd (Mikey) said to put a match to the old piles of cuttings, so I did!

And with that grapple grabbing big chunks of debris I had two fields cleaned up in less than a couple hours. I just sortied to/from that one burn pile, hauling four other piles in to feed the flames

Then I pushed the tractor into that monstrous grapple bucket, picked it up, threw in the lower two pins and connected the hydraulics

I had a new set of hydraulic lines made up for the new grapple bucket. The ones I took off were new, so I had them put the correct end on the one sample line I took them, and replace the Skid Steer style flat fitting with the correctly sized quick disconnect.

The large fat fitting is not used on tractors

...And some days the bear eats you!

Big Windy

18465
Yep...Concur

18466
Those would be two enlarging pools of brake fluid!!!!!!

A quick inspection told me, well jogged my memory. I had left the flex lines loose to the calipers because I didn't have fresh copper washers. I use them once then discard. So whenever I pulled the calipers down to fix something else, I never followed up with the new washers. I don't have any on hand so in the morrow, I'll go find some...

18467
So with this sort of in the bag, I discovered two new problems. First I have a very strange brake pedal travel. It seems to push against a spring for 80% of its travel, then finally "bite" into some solid hydraulic pumping action. I suspect the rod length is improperly set, or the brake pedal linkage needs adjusting. All of that is either adapted or homemade

And secondly, I have this to deal with:

18468
Then I bled the master cylinder, reattached the lines, then bent the loops into a horizontal configuration to eliminate places for bubbles to hide, and filled the master cylinder

18469
Then I lubed everything and reinstalled the valve. With spacing it outward, it definitely made reassembly much easier

18470
That is a nice set. Di you and Lane ever touch bases?
T-lane?

We have talked via PM and open forum...

18471
And you end up with this:

18472
The process is easy with the right tools. I've had this flaring tool since the 1980's

18473
Luckily, I had made the lines plenty long enough, so I decided to simply re-engineer the existing line by adding the new fittings to make it all fit

18474
Now the interesting part is that the 95 Dodge 2500 master cylinder which utilizes a hydro brake setup is metric. So the top of the line requires a M10 X 1.5 with a 3/16" bore. If you get these two fittings and have the ability to flare your own line, then you can adapt the later (Much mo-better hydro brake system to the earlier brake system

I stacked some stainless washers onto both sets of studs to space the valve inward toward vehicle center to make it easier to work on.

18475
But...The 1/4" line was too large for the master cyl, and I had no way to reduce the line to 3/16"...what to do??

So to capture this for future generations, the aft port is 7/16 X 24 and I used a fitting with a 3/16" bore

18476
After trying everything and coming up null, I spied my selection of steel lines. I grabbed a 1/4" line and it screwed right in like it was meant to!

18477
Something like this with an inverted flare seemed to be the strongest candidate, but this fitting does not accept another fitting to adapt to the 3/16 SAE thread

18478
Going with JR's recommendation, I picked up a master brake fitting selection from summit. With this I was able to figure out the fittings I needed. It helped me determine what fittings to select for the master cylinder as well

18479
This is the pesky port that I can't figure out what size nor type fitting actually fits

18480
Back on the truck today. It took longer than I expected, but I solved the Proportioning valve problem. The top aft line was not screwed in, because it simply did not fit.

Nice little toy there Don, surprised you didn't get a stand alone. Those go for around $200 a day here.

A locker in Cmax?
I wanted to uncomplicate my life. Having a PTO eliminates one engine that will need servicing and will fail to run at some point

C-Max has a Grizzly in the rear axle already along with the 4.56's. Someday I'll either put a locker in the existing 9.5 or shove that D60 with a locker under the front if I get tired of my great highway smooth ride.

Another option while not free, a VPN service. Sure it's still traceable but very difficult to attach to an individual. Can also be used to secure comms going VPN to VPN. Someone here probably understands it better than I do and will correct or add to my statement.

I just priced a home VPN for $5 a month and a onetime $59 charge. Serves five base units

I paid a flat rate of something like 50 for two years of serivce, for five devices. I was chatting with a customer rep and he offered me a 50% off, to which I applied it to their largest discounted offering.

Let my kids watch it. Was great. To bad the landing was blacked out.
They do that to fake it!

A Chinook is hovering nearby with a painted up falcon 9 first stage. The pilot, a handsome devil, sets the booster on the barge and then flies off

I think they used Chinooks to fake the moon landings too!

Sure would create more than enough dust or mess of the air in screen!

So what's the consensus on these upgrade headlights? Every time I read about someone upgrading there are issues. Ashley & I were discussing this awhile back & after many trials he said just add a good rigid light bar & call it a day. Which is my intention on the jk as I have the parts just need to mount & wire it.
Well, when they work, they work well. Crisp, clear light, but LED's do not have the range that halogen lights do.

The best my truck was when I had LED high beams coupled with two 100W Rugged Ridged (Cheapo) spots. I could see nearly a mile down the road with those. LED High beams + LED driving lights, maybe half that distance or less

I am adding two of the 100 watt cheapo lights once more to get the best of both worlds

The low beam only with the Fogs turned on clearly show a need to upgrade the lower 4 as well.

Now, I have learned a thing or two about these LED's

The science if far from mature. They have really just started to get the things working and can do nothing with some of the ring scatter. But with respect to the Chevy platform, there is another more perplexing problem. For DRL operation, Chevy limits voltage to the headlamps enough to light them, but holds them far off of full power. Apparently LED bulbs DO NOT like this partial voltage situation. There are cooling problems in the base and especially with the exchange of electrons between the media and the copper emitter plate. All of my LED bulbs that burned out, had the signature burned spot in the yellow media of the emitter.

So with that in mind, the high beams may survive with the LED bulb, although you'll continue to blind US Airway pilots (US Scare) on approach to your aerodrome. So me thinks I just may shove some LED's inside those fogs so instead of just illuminating the area beneath the wet air, I simply heat the area in front of my truck and cause the fog in front of me to burn off!

Should work...

I pulled the front end down again today and changed out the headlght bulbs, yet once again.

I had purchased a set of Putco 4400K high output bulbs (Not sure of the wattage) but while collecting the tools for the job, I ran across another box of...LED headlight bulbs!

Hmmm, should I or stick to Plan "A", return to bronze era halogens...???

So I flipped the mental coin and it came up, use and gamble on the LED's until the next failure, then perhaps spring for the expensive HIDs.

So in they went and just like that I was cookin' with bacon grease all over again.

They are going to replace the plastic bits located all over the tractor to make it new, and we are discussing replacing the seat as well. It is also faded...

This tractor got the 6 year warranty as well as a 24 month bumper to bumper, so I should save a bit the next two years with the multiple failures it will surely have.

That bucket is pretty anemic looking. Not sure what size it is, either a 49", 51" or 53"

This mighty little loader has been real world tested to lift 1160 pounds to 29" height at loader stall. That is just arm lift, not including bucket curl which would add substantially to that. Half a ton++ is darned good for a 1500 lb tractor of 31HP
