Yeah Dave, but cheaper than a trip to the ER. The 200 lb capacity type III I have (24ft) is wobbly as all get out, especially since I go 230 by myself with no gear.

It won't be hard to tell I get that rag because it was offered for free as part of some deal. I only have to look at the cover to see it's a left wing looney tune rag.

Yeah I probably do Bob. Especial on this sloping site so I don't have to dig with the claw hammer to level a spot.

Ok. Picked up a new 28 ft IA ladder, some scaffold jacks and some solar board for the porch since it won’t have spray foam insulation.

Thanks Dave. I have to say I hit it out of the park with this one. The problem with turkey is by the time the thigh gets to 180 the breast is over cooked
This year I came up with a plan. When the breast got to 140 and the thigh was at 130 I covered the breast in foil and then wet a washcloth and placed it in the freezer. When it was frozen I placed it over the foil to cool the breast. I rotated two washcloths in this fashion until I had the breast 10 degrees cooler than the thigh. Then I bring them to the right temp.
That way the breast is juicy and not dry and the thighs are done and not bloody.

Funny you mention reloading setups Tex. Just last night I was comparing the Dillon 550C and XL650. My single stage has been great but now that we have a little one I don’t have that much time to spend in the garage.
I’ve spend the last couple days making room for today’s meals. Happy Thanksgiving y’all.

I have the 650xl. Get it and never look back. I have the case feeder and the RT1200 trimmer die. Makes processing AR brass a breeze. I believe they now have a swager die for it too which makes processing once fired mil brass much easier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Short update on C-Max
Had a chance to squirm around in some gooey clayish muddy wonderfulness today. Those tires never allowed for a stoppage in forward progress. The combination of this truck's wheelbase, its weight, the grizzly locker, 4WD, and these 37" tires make for a pretty robust and reliable package for one who may venture way off the beaten path. I'm very comfortable with taking this truck most places. I bypass the nasty spots...Those are for active duty piluts with a large support crew and not too much brain thinkage.
Fixed it

So here’s where I got back to work. Wrapping the house in tyvek by myself was fun. Feel like I could leg press a Jeep after 100s of Tripp’s up and down the ladder to anchor on end then move the ladder to anchor the other then move the ladder and nail and tape all along the way. You get the point. Here the soffit coming together. Here’s where I hired the crew again. Holding 12 ft flimsy pieces of hardi 20ft in the air by yourself didn’t seem like a great idea. They knocked all the facia and soffit out in 5 hours. Another smoking deal. And back to me working again. Poured 12 tube form footings for the 4x6 porch posts and sank wet anchors in place. Here’s where lack of planning and engineering came back to haunt me a bit. The double 2x12 from the house to the posts is really not all that structural but securing them to the house in a way that didn’t include a ledger board was tough since I was building all the way to the edge. Some timber locks driven at 45 degree angles in the top and bottom of each 2x12 seemed to do the trick. I may add a Simpson right angle bracket but I have to keep protrusions to a minimum since this will all be covered in hardie. I did some pull ups from them so I guess that will hold Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Trying to get caught up here. Got the walls up and made a mistake on the back wall. It was between the two long walls and I went 16 inch oc from the corner and not from the corner of the long wall so sheathing did not lineup from the actual corner. Live and learn. Cost me 2 sheets of plywood. Here you can see the rafters going up. This is a 12/12 roof. with the 32 inch pony wall upstairs the peak of the roof will give me 10 ft inside peak. qthe plan is to have a spiral metal stair case in the opening which is about 62 inches square Which means I needed a dormer to get the require 7'6" height above the stairs Here you can see the lookout rafters and sub facia board going on. House will be all hardie including trim so I made the lookout rafters 14.5 inches so that with the 2x4 sub facia the 16 inch non vented hardie will completely cover all the wood and then a 1x8 hardi facia board finishes the outside edge. I have a few. Icom 746pro for the main. I also have a 910h for vhf/uhf/satellite
I have an older icom for a back up rig and a yaesu hand held and yaesu 50watt mobile rig and an icom vhf only handheld.
I run the 910h at my primary home. I have a 6ft comet dual band antenna mounted in the top of a 75ft pine tree. I have communicated simplex with my bro in law over 35 miles away.

Now the real trick this year will be getting the breast and thigh to come to temp at the same time since you want 180 in the thigh and 170 In the breast. I will try icing the breast with a bag of ice and then cover with foil once it gets to about 145

Don one thing about ham radio is that EVERYTHING is grounded. Not a chance of sparks unless you don’t disconnect the antenna and you get a direct hit of lightning. Now this will make one helluva faraday cage as well. It will be 8ft ground rod connected on each corner of the container and the cargo doors will be welded to eliminate gaps. Door in the side will be steel. All my redundant stuff will be in there with no risk of emp.
Besides how much of a boom could 50-60 lbs of powder in a metal box really make........

Well since we are eating thanksgiving dinner tomorrow with the family here’s the plan. All natural fresh turkey. Brine from Williams Sonoma that had apple juniper berries, herbs, salt etc. Boil on the stove in a gallon of water. Let cool. Add another gallon and a bit of water and 1.5 liters of white wine. Place I’m brining container and put in fridge for 8-10 hours. Meanwhile I’m making herb compound butter. Sage rosemary thyme orange zest. Have separated the skin from the breast so I can get herb butter under it along with lemon slices. Then will brush outside with butter and smoke over cherry pellets. Thanks! I'm starting to get excited. Windows should be in next week and I just got a new toy. A Hitachi coil siding nailer and a handheld shear for hardi plank. Never knew they used those but its like electric metal shears. Really looking forward to the 40ft high cube shipping container. The plan is to insulate and panel the inside with plywood, add lights and electrical and a window a/c, divide it in half and add a door in the side. One half will be storage and one will be my reloading set up and HAM radio station. My reloading set up will finally come home from my bro in laws.

JR, often leaks are a long way from where you find them. They can travel horizontally for a long ways before coming out somewhere. I know that can be frustrating. Its looking good. That lumber looks almost too good to cover up.

Don did you have your awning secured with secondary tie downs? I had drilled and attached eye bolts to the arms and then had screw in anchors in the ground and had paracord taut between them. My awning secured that way withstood 40+mph winds.
