Today I was admiring the ranger sittin' there and decided that it was still to low to the ground for my taste, even with the taller tires and after moving the shocks to the outward holes.(Rangers have 2 top mounting holes, one inboard and one outboard...the outboard ones raise the vehicle up about an inch but changes the angle of the shock, causing a slightly harsher ride.) After some thought, I decided to fabricate some ears that would weld in, between and below the factory holes. This would give me about 1-3/4" of lift without destroying the axles (I hope).
....here's the flat stock marked out with 8 brackets, some of which were already cut.

...and after welding them in. Topped off with a touch of spray paint, black of course.

I think these little utility vehicles are so cool, and seeing you guys mod them is giving me all sorts of ideas for down the road!

I was quite happy with my old Willys, and then a Samurai, until I rode in one of these. I would've had one years ago if I knew how smooth and capable they were. Just sold the Sammy a couple weeks ago!

Before the makeshift lift, the floorboards were at 12" from the ground....

...now I have almost 14". Should help this long boat a bit, yet still be somewhat stable on side hills.

I added this handy dandy monitor/gauge pod to keep an eye on things. It's a POD200 made specifically to work with the PC5 tuner....plug and play....except for the fact that it only comes with a 6' data cable, proprietary of course. I had to cut off the plug and extend the cable a few feet so I could mount the Pod near the shifter.
The left gauge shows fuel ratio and the right shows boost. the smaller pids show rpm, injector duty cycle, fuel % added, and throttle %....all customizable. I can also use it to store 2 different tunes and use it to log data.

I was thinking to myself, "My eyes aren't that great, I may need more lighting for this upcoming elk hunt and Amazon is only a click away".....
.......so I happened across one of the cheapest 50" light bars I've ever seen, and promptly purchased it.
There's no way I would EVER pay 1600 for a name brand light, and even the 400.00 ones were nothing more than a pipe dream, but for 130.00 I couldn't say no.
Here it is, in the only place it would fit, below the windshield.
I had to partially remove the windshield assembly to install nuts from the backside:

...it's wired in with the small rigid cubes.

Follow up:
After a trip to the mountains, carrying my fat....urrr.....larger-than-life friends, tools, spare, and a heavy ice chest, the Ranger did pretty well. It would accelerate uphill, never heated up, and ran like it should the entire time. The small lift and larger tires helped quite a bit more than expected. I give it a 9.5 out of 10. It would have received a higher score if Ken would've installed a heater before that trip!

I'm liking it Ken

That light for $130 is a deal.

I have purchased a bunch of those less expensive light bars and have had nary a failure yet

Great work!

I guess I exaggerated, it was 140...and it's a 52" bar.

Well, we'll take 10 points off for underpricing it by $10, but we have to give you 10 points for the extra 2" in length over the reported 50"...so I guess we're even!

Thinking about it. But might go with a 42" to stay between the cargo rails. Undecided on how a 52" would look, since it'll take up the entire roofline.

It will look bright! :D
But in all fairness, pick the one that fits best for you.
Either way don't think you'll be disappointed, you can never have too much light.
I did the all on mod in my truck with 4300k HID's, all my buddy's can't believe the light.

Between the cargo rails it's 42", and gutter to gutter it's 54.6" If I'm remembering correctly. Either way will be nice due to the extra light. Maybe a 52" up front and the 46" on the bumper!

Need we all be reminded of CMax, D2, Big Red, TacGator...

Lol, all that extra light will come in handy when I have to go to work in a blizzard, where I can't see more than 10' , all because someone or multiple people "can't make it to work.." Plus those lights are Made In The USA... so you know... can't say no.

It sure is nice to have some lights that can't be outdriven. We were going down the windy dirt road, before sunrise, at 30-35mph, and switched the 52" off, leaving just the high beams on, and I lost the road REAL fast.....we could only do 15mph with the stock lights.

Got any night pics of the light bar? And the light output?

So no pics on the light but how does it work?

Still no pics, haven't had time to clean out the hunting carnage....but it works great. I will admit, though, I haven't seen a name brand in person to be able to compare outputs.

Any recent pics? Night pics of the light bar? How has it held up to use? Any diodes die? Water infiltrate? Inquiring minds wish to know, before they spend money on things that may or may not be for a certain black rusty XJ....

So far so good. I used them a bunch on that elk hunt, but they haven't seen any rain yet, so I can't speak for how they hold up to moisture.
I went out tonight, just for you Bobby (ok, and maybe for myself).

The first 2 are factory low beam only:

...high beam:

....and Leds (the cubes are also on, but pretty sure they don't make a difference):

Hey. For what it's worth. Here are some pics of the 21" light bars I put on my tractor. I'm not planning high speed so I just wanted enough to light up the night for plowing. I have one pointing forward and one reverse. They fill the bill.

Went back to the mountains a couple weeks ago, the same ones that forced me (against my will) to install a turbo last year. I actually was able to keep up with the other toys on this trip....well worth the investment I think. Here's a couple pics:

I already forgot the name of it, but it was super cool. It had a 3 cylinder with a 5 speed, nice doors, dash, etc.
It was the talk of the town every time we stopped somewhere.

Thanks Sam.

You know what p***** me off? In 2014 , polaris found a way around that stupid law (the one that limited power to 40hp). They made it a 5 passenger instead of 6....that's it...no majic. ..so, the 900 has like 62hp stock.  urrrr
My buddy took his stock 2014 crew 900 along on that trip, carried more weight (read: fat guys and human 12oz coolant), and still had a bit more power than me.
That hurt my ego a little amount.....maybe more than a little.

And more fuel!

Seriously a bummer on the stupidity of the laws. Is there any way to get the computer flashed?
Say from a 2014 machine, add to that the turbo you now have and whoa buddy.
Might not be doable tho.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.
