Guys if you could say a prayer for my wife and father in law I would appreciate it. Yesterday my MIL passed away. She had been sick and in declining health but no one expected that yesterday would be the day. Hard day for my wife and FIL. They are comforted that she is not suffering and is finally at peace, but anything extra you could say for them is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Just heard that my uncle was involved in an incident this morning.  A dump truck backed over him and dragged him for a while before anybody realized what happened.  They had to jack the truck up to get him from underneath it.  He was flew to the hospital.  I believe he is stable but it sounds like he is currently or will shortly be going into surgery to try and repair his leg/ ankle.

Ugh, I wish him the best of luck Bear. I was hit by a Honda doing about 45 when I was younger. took a lot of time to recover, rehab etc and I was still young and growing. I don't want to imagine the same thing at my age now, let alone how old I assume your uncle to be. Prayers sent.

Good news from my uncle.  No head trauma or internal injuries.  During surgery they found that he only popped his knee out of the joint.  They put it back in place and I believe installed some hardware to keep it there while the ACL and MCL heal.  He has 2 broken ribs (1 on each side).  They need to do some more x-rays/ mri on his ankle, shoulder and elbow.  A few sutures above an eye and in his check I think.  He is my Dad's youngest sibling, so he isn't that old just yet and should be able to recover.  He was awake, alert and joking around with my cousins this morning already.  Once they get his ankle xray and figure out what is going on with it they will be starting therapy already.

Nobody is really certain exactly what happened, but all things considered he got of pretty lucky.  Could have been much worse.

Guys, we lost a soldier on my Army National Guard unit. SGT Thomas died on this past Monday, 29MAY2017, in a tank rollover accident while training at NTC. The other 3 members of the crew are pretty banged up, but alive. Please keep this young Soldier, his family, and the unit in your prayers through this difficult time. A lot of us on this forum have served, and know that it is always tough to lose a comrade, especially to a training accident. Please pray that his unit, which is only half way through their NTC rotation, remains vigilant, and does not allow this unfortunate event to cause any further accidents through distraction. God bless this young man for serving his nation proudly, and give his fellows the strength to learn from this event. Lord, be with SGT Thompson's family, as they struggle to understand how this could happen during training. Amen.

Just noticed the post count on this thread is growing, one day I hope to see it pass ol SD and we continue to remember the lord has his hands in all things.
This Sunday will be my first time back in a church meeting house In a good long while and why I know the lord and I have felt the absence in my life I am really looking forward to meeting some ok friends and seeing new faces.  That scout issue left a very sour taste in my mouth and it's time to rinse it out with Christ and the good word.

As always I am appreciative of you guys and the example you each lead.

God bless you and your friends and family and this loved and lost.

Dave I've never felt one had to go to an organized Church to know God. But for me I find the sharing of stories a help and also I like seeing when a committed group of people come together what they can do to make positive changes. So for me church works, although it has taken a few different locations to find one that worked.

Its interesting to note that the term church refers to a body of people...Like the one here on this web site

Oftentimes people think it is physical structure. I call that a church building, something that the church occupies and comes together to worship our king.

If you have 500 people meeting in a building every sunday for ten years worshiping

Then one wednesday the building falls into a sinkhole (Real possibility in the tuck)

But the following sunday those 500 people meet on nearby solid ground and worship

From God's perspective, what changed?

I hadn't thought of that, or this for hat matter, a congregation of I think like fifty people who have same beliefs can be called a religion. Interesting idea for sure

I like the community and social along with the spiritual, I lost the here in my current location but the new house will be my old stomping grounds, people who I have known my hole life.

It's funny you say that Don. The church we go to is an old structure from the 1800's. But it's not historically accurate as the hurricane of '38 took off the steeple. Now it's just a drafty building with high expenses. When I was the treasurer I kept telling the vestry we needed to burn it down and rebuild. People would have fits when I said that, and I would bring up the exact example you did (well....not quite I used fire instead of a sinkhole). But they couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that without a building we would be just as much a church as with the one we have.

I absolutely hate going to church. I believe in God and our saivior Jesus Christ.  I was raised Catholic. My brothers and I had to be alter boys Saturday night service AND Sunday morning because nobody else wanted to do it. Then I started Catholic school in 10th grade. We had mass at school twice a week. I had enough. My first wife was Lutheran so I switched. The preacher was a major pain the butt. I never met a man so helpless. There's. Mouse in the trap. My light bulb is turned out. My pickup won't start. I have a flat tire. I had to go to all that stuff because my boss was a trustee. Then I got tired of the wispers behind my back and pretty much just quit going. There are some prissy hags in that church. Wispering they wore the same clothes last week. Then I was told I needs to give %13 of my income to the church? Um no.

Havi g said all that I do sent my kids to Sunday school because I believe it's important for them to learn about the bible. My wife being southern Baptist (her grandfather was fire and brimstone preacher) does a good job teaching the boys how important it is to pray.

Folks, if you would be so kind please send a prayer for wisdom and guidance and possibly for doors to be opened. I have been putting out resumes locally and have been considering getting back in the service preferably as a chaplain. There is so much going on right now, and I could use His guiding hand. Thanks to all of you for the support. My wife and I appreciate it greatly.

My uncle passed during the night.  He is a Vietnam vet who was diagnosed with some respiratory issues over a year ago.  He had been on Oxygen for a while but in the last month it had gotten extremely difficult for him.  We all knew this day would come shortly and are glad that his heart gave out before his lungs did but we expected him to last a little longer.

Alright. This thread hasn't had much activity in the past few days so I thought I would give you fellers something to do.

I normally just deal with stuff but this one might need some help.

After getting my neck stuck with needle last week I got the results back. Not good. Squamous Cell Carcinoma. The dreaded C word. I have a PET scan next week to see how wide spread it is so if you guys would put a good word in with our Maker I would really appreciate it.

Mike,
OK this is going to be tough. You are now entering another season of your life, but only a season.
Tough because it is going to press you in directions you have perhaps never seen before.
Now doctors are going to come up with plans. Treatments, possibly radiation, surgery, and stuff that can cause hair loss. That may be the right answer, I don't know. In fact I don't understand the whole medical process.
But here's what I do know. Jesus is the great physician.
So I would ask you to get deep, like deeper than you ever have been with God before. Have him search your sould and identify anything you need to repent of. Identify anyone or anything you need to forgive. My point is to not minimize this at all and get righteous and get right with your God and his son.
From that point the spirit can work in you. Then I want you to pray to understand the power that Jesus left with us when he resurected his son. You have the power to claim healing, to actually take authority over infirmity. I am not joking, we can do that. Ask for the filling of the holy spirit and try to speak in the prayer language.
If you get that, or you can already then speak in it 4-5 times a day and just let the spirit talk to his God. He will ask of the father what you need better than we can form words to put to it.
There is a woman, Abby Abildness...Find her on the web and contact her. Cleans yourself and make God 1000 times more important than you ever have before. Most importantly if you have religion in your life get rid of it!
Yes, cast it out. Religion is of man, not of the lord. The lord opened the door to direct communication to him when he tore the veil in the holiest of holies on that terrible/wonderful when our Jesus died on that dogwood tree.
You get this right, and you can take command over this season. It can become a season of spiritual growth and learning, not one of sickness and thoughts of death.
Sorry to be blunt, not my desire at all. We have a relationship. I have watched you quietly do the lord's work behind the scenes, so I know your heart is right. But PLEASE, shake off the baptist...Throw away the catholic, shed the lutheran, and kick the methodist along with the mormon and any other organized interpretation of man and just get with him.

James:1 2-7
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

Romans 12:12 ►
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
