Got Zane signed up for tiger cubs. First scout camping trip in 2 weeks. One parent is required to go with tiger cubs. Not looking forward to sleeping in a tent for the first time in probably 15 years. I need to find a cot.

My youngest is a webelo 2 and oldest is working on his Boy Scout 2nd class now. 2 year diff, thank GOD next year they will both be together. All the separate trips were killing me, plus I just became an asst. Scout Master and am setting up out next summer trip.

For sleeping, just get the $8 intex mattress at wally. I tried cots and matts, this is the most comfortable. For another $10 you can get the electric inflater or get one with it built in.
Thanks for the advice. I will do that.

Shawn I did not know that. Wonder how many they'd expect me to buy to fix it.

JR I fat fingered it. Yes Senco

Longball I'd bail on it. Certainly not worth paying someone else and if you do it yourself who knows what else you might find.

If my injectors go bad again I'm going to swap LLY heads on it. Or just set it on fire.

Not sure Charles, my cousin owns a very small custom cabinet shop. Local senco dealer / supply house always fixed his. My assumption is you need to set up a commercial account, minor details and agree to buy all your fasteners from them. Then going forward they cover the tools. It's reason I have senco air guns primarily although living here in CO I have no idea where to take them now....

The guy who put in my last set ( all 8 ) only charged me $350 so that's the only reason I'm considering it. If I replace any before I sell it, It'll only be the ones that are bad.

The image looks generic but is it a center mount light or can you side mount on both sides ?

Started laying tile on the wife's island.
First, I made a top and covered it in 1/2" backer board, screwed and liquid nailed it to keep it rigid.

I took a break from tile to make some leg protectors. I decided to use copper, because eventually copper pans will hang from the ceiling above the island.

Here it is sanded with 220 grit:

then hit it with a hammer for fun:

The bare copper just didn't go well with the dark walnut stained pine, so I started experimenting. The end result was from heating each piece until it was glowing, 3 separate times, and each time sooting them just before quenching. I used scotchbrite between soot coats until the pieces held a fair amount of black (from the acetylene). They ended up red, copper, with some black streaks. ...then used the torch along just the edge and turned it back into plain copper. I know, maybe overkill but it was kind of fun working with copper. Very interesting to see what happened during each heat cycle.

Here they are bent at 90*, then tacked on with antique looking upholstery tacks:

Looks good Ken. JR I've been thinking about cement counter tops in my upcoming outdoor kitchen. Don't know much about them. Would appreciate any advice.

Oh and yesterday wAs the HH6 birthday.  Decided to buy her a pool for the weekend place.  I guess that's the price I have to pay to be able to justify having a new shop built in a  few years.

Had a day out messing around with the kids. Went to a semi truck show in Lincoln then to a model train get together down the road a little bit in Waverly. It was a fun day. Jasper loves trains so he had a ball riding them. They were real miniture steam engines. Coal burning steam powered. The boys found themselves a little kenworth they fell in love with.

Stocked up on another weeks worth of freeze dried meals for each member of my family.  Figured with all the calamity going on, supply might start to tighten and drive prices up.  Amazon sure makes it easy!

Hey Ken, nice looking copper work!  In the future, get yourself some "liver of sulfur" to add a much greater range of color to your patina work.  Just crush it up and dilute/dissolve into really hot water and paint it on and rinse it of using hot water.  You get magentas, violets and browns on your way to eventual black/steel gray.  Solution smells like REALLY rotten eggs, but results are amazing.  You can get some near you at Rio Grande Jewelers Supply - look on-line.  (Art teacher tip for the day)

Turned on the new furnace for the first time!  Slept with some upstairs windows opened last night and awoke to the main floor at a brisk 65 degrees!  Walking around the house freezing for 2 + hours and figured "what the heck, gotta test it out!"  Awful smell of oil burning of the new metal made me glad that the upstairs windows were still opened!

Gonna be an early fall - a couple of orange leaves on my maple trees and some dulling of other types in the neighborhood!

Still nursing a bad cold. Woke up Sunday morning at 4 am sneezing. Couldn't get back to sleep. We still managed to can 13 quarts of tomato juice. Not as much as normal but I still have a good dozen or more left over from last year. I gave away half my tomatoes to the neighbor who's plants didn't do well. Her house is the first stop when Zane starts selling boy scout popcorn in 2 weeks.

Took down the last maple tree and pulled out the stump yesterday. Still have a lot of roots left under the lawn though. Might be renting a mini-excavator to take out the two stumps in the back yard and can pull those roots then. Lawns will likely get re-done anyway. Think i want to get a bobcat and landscape rake (rock hound i've seen them called) to take it down a few inches and get out the large rocks then replant the grass.

20170910 by Ryan Parlee, on Flickr

I had cut some major roots and tried pulling from down low on the stump already at this point. Hooked up to the top of the trunk to utilize the leverage.... came loose real easily.

Nice Nate!

I remember where I was this day in 2001.  I was at work and heard about the first plane and went to the break room to see what what going on and as they were still speculating on why and how, I watched the second one hit.  It really took a while for it to register with me, that some one was that sick.

I was very naive then.

Today I played golf and sucked at it.  Of course its been more than a year since i last played or practice.  There were a couple of glimpses of decency.  I had one drive for 300 and another 290.  putter was meh and the irons made me look like I was having an epileptic fit.
Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Yeah Mike.  I stopped playing my new clubs a few years ago and went back to playing my ancient set of Zing2s

It's not the club's fault.

Oh and today I dumped and replaced my water storage at the city house. 60 gallons in 4 15gal food grade hdpe barrels. .6 tsp of bleach in each and fill with tap water. I'm also edging close to the dates I need to replace my MREs. I have a ton (!) of chicken fajita, sloppy Joe and beef stew. Did break into a lemon pound cake this evening and the kids enjoyed it.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Got a good source for MRE's? Would like some but they can get pricey!

Ran home and tarped the build. Just a drizzle today but had me worried since it is just exposed sheetrock right now.

Charles, I literally chuckled out loud about the epileptic fit or at least the visual image of such as I can relate. As far as MRE's they have an expiration? Reason I ask a good friend who was in sea bees early 80's swore they were digesting Vietnam era MRE's at the time......

JR I get my MREs from The Ready Store. I have some full meal packs with heaters and then I buy cases of the entrees only which makes it more economical.  I also buy cases of just the heaters too.

Shawn glad I could give you a laugh. After manhandling those sheets of 1 1/8 plywood all day I was stiff as a board (pun intended) and just couldn't rotate.

Technically I guess they expire. There is a chart on the box that shows shelf life at certain storage temps. Not that they go bad. Probably just not as tasty.

I've rented a mini-excavator a couple of times now and both times tried to use it to dig some stumps out.  It did not work very well.  The one I was using was just not heavy enough to pull the stump out of the ground or break the roots.  I needed to dig a really big hole to have any hope of getting them out.

I hope its unloaded Dave. Or else you'll see it upside down in the median pretty soon. Never ceases to amaze me how once people get a SUV think they have a heavy truck. Home Depot on a Saturday AM is a scary place to see this kind of stuff!
