I am still in awe over the garage. Speaking of that just recorded a season of Shop Rehab, should be cool.

Metal roof Charles, smart!! I got a wall up on mine today.

I can’t wait until I have everything organized and put away so I can start using it. Next up is going to be a lift for the top of my K5 Blazer. Hoping to just set up a winch system to pull it to the ceiling out of the way.

Shop is definitely nice, since they were burning everything in those fireplaces have you had the chimneys inspected & cleaned? We did it once a year on our farm, cheap insurance really.

That is a very small profession that you work in FJ, didn’t use to be that way. That way of life is fast being lost......

I grew up on a working farm. Same as my parents, my kids started life on a farm but never worked it as we contracted the farm work out. They did tend a large garden & chickens for what it’s worth. Out of the three girls my guess is one may have a farm but doubtful if they work it or maybe like when they were kids.

Looks good Charles.
It will be worth another 500 bucks to finish the roof. Well maybe...maybe not.

Something about 12/12 roof that I despise.
Might have something to do with nearly falling from 2 1/2 story years ago.
Only the cedar shake nails at the gutters that saved my a$$, and carved it too...
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

I have a 12/12 pitch on my "Shed" at the farm. After cutting in some dormers, I plan to have a metal roof INSTALLED BY PROFESSIONALS
I'm not even going to get near putting metal on a roof like that!

I leaned a few thing by watching these guys. They built the lookouts and barge rafters as they laid the plywood. That way they knew the plywood would lay right on the nailing surface as they went. Also the started at the bottom and laid the first course of plywood then rolled the underlayment and nailed on the furring 2x4 for the metal panel. That then gave them a foot hold to stand on and repeat the process for the next row of plywood until they reached the peak. Now that the decking, underlayment and furring strips are down, getting up there and securing a panel as you work your way across would be pretty easy.  Not as easy as watching someone else, but pretty easy.

I figured that out after studying your photos.
I'm taking notes
I am in the decision loop as to which roof to use as I cut this new mechanical room extension to my shed into the existing roof. I'll be two stories up on sloping ground which will have me around 25 feet up from down sloping ground...Not something I am looking forward to.

Don, for the record and don't ask how I know. However, that nice sloping ground beneath you actually helps. You see when you finally do hit the dirt you will tend to roll and that helps negate some of the initial impact. I do admit that depending on where you finally end up you may acquire a few more scrapes and bruises in transition but I believe those are desirable compared to broken bones...........

Yeah, I never had training.....

Normally it was a combination of several things that led to the occurrence. Usually sleep deprevation, alcohol still in system & mind on other things normally of the female variety. Luckily for me I don’t stay up all night drinking & chasing women. I got married, speaking of which where is Bobby?

Broke a water line moving ply around on the build. Capped off CPVC was sticking up and it broke down below on a T.

Thank god it was in an access panel and I had the fitting to repair.

I had been needing to trim these anyway and this sort of pushed the refit up.

I've been casually looking for a cheap semi truck to pull my camper with. Older Freightliner and Volvo go pretty cheap and parts are cheap. I almost messed up tho. I found a decent 90 Freightliner in Colorado. In Grand Junction Co. For some reason my brain thought Fort Morgan. I'm in Nebraska. Grand Junction is another 400 miles away. I almost put a pretty high bid on it but I sent a link to my dad to get his opinion. Yes been wrenching on big rigs since before I was born. He caught my mistake. Oh well there will be more.

Tomorrow I take my boss in to get his arteries cleaned. They want his there bu 5:30 am. I got us some hotel rooms a couple blocks from the hospital. We just got a good start on corn but it's just going to have to wait a few days.

Surgery went well. Get to go home tomorrow. Second night in a hotel in Sioux City. I haven't slept well the past 2 nights. I grabbed a 6 pack of tall boys maybe that will help.

Well heck, a Bobby sighting. Lol.

Mama had her surgery Monday. All went well.
Recovery will be a bit but she's good.
Going to be a few extra days in the city, that sucks but it's for the best.

Helping a buddy finish up a gas heater for his garage in lieu of some warm space to do a power steering pump on the impala. Hope that fixes up the steering, and it's not the rack as well.
Pump seems to be laboring, fingers crossed.

Have most of the ski doo motor picked up, just need the crank and a couple other small bits and then it will be gtg when I get home. Can't say the same for the garage, but it will get done just in time.

I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

So today I let my team go at 10:30 to head downtown to the Astros parade.

I also ordered all my R Panel and trim for the casita roof.  Hope I can get the framing crew back out this weekend to work on the soffit.  I'll work on the housewrap and soffit this weekend if they don't show.

Well back to working on my own. Trying to get it wrapped. Here’s where I left it today. Just have the dormer on the other side and the two little areas under the highest part of the peak.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

No meat yet but do have a couple good views. Yesterday border patrol was busy here, about six miles from the border... choppers, horses, and 2 drones directly above us.

Could the fbi be doing their job & knowing your relationship to H have been looking for her? I know they are having issues but you would think she would be hard to miss......
