One of my goals this winter is to become an expert on smoking meats. It's time I embrace this aspect of manhood. By expert I mean it doesn't taste poorly or the fire department doesn't need calling before I am done.

I think it would be fun to build a smoker from scratch.

I have been into calculus and doting to the best of my ability.   At home the wife planned a trip to LA for Christmas so we can see all the burning. I than called. mikeL to see if he wanted a crack at my 75 mph pulse issue in my truck “yep” he said and “I’ll give ya a ride in my new hellcat”. So we are driving two cars to LA dropping the chev off than going south to some beach.

Ordered a replacement dog bed for said bad dog

Went to work knowing there was nothing to do but sit and get paid,
Lunch with manager to explain to him the financial reason work is slow,
Drove to campus and spent the night prepin for a calc final

ATM I don't especially need to drop weight much. But if I build a smoker and use it, that may change LoL
We have a UDS now and my wife runs it very well. She does most her prime rib, briskets and such in it.

But it's time I build a larger device so as to facilitate much larger "meat projects"

As much scrap metal as I have, it might be fun to recycle some. You got me to thinking about how to build a winter smoker.

Am I seein' Nate n' Norm hangin' out together

I think this is a good thing, but knowin' Norm, I don't really know.

I have this sense of "Somethig is cookin'" and I don't mean in the smoker.

Maybe I should offer a prayer up for their safety. Ask our father to keep a shed or barn or garage from fallin' in on them while they are removin' bomb casings or boats, or flywheels.

May any forearm they create, or any homemade concieved ammunition, function so that no one gets blowed up or shot. That flyin splinters from any chain saw remodelling job doesn't temporarily blind anyone. That in no way does Norm talk Nate into pulling the D-Max and replacing with a 12 valve off one of his old water pumps.

I just don't quite know what to ask for. They are far enough away that they couldn't accidentally blow me up or Sam for that matter, and knowin' that plutonium can't be used to really supercharge Kay's Mustang, there is no chance that the hotrod gets unknowingly weaponized.

I just don't know what to think

I’d worry about poor unsuspecting musloids who might get covered by charred bacon Fall-out!  That’s a mushroom cloud that would really have mushrooms in it!

Depends on who makes it and quality of the components.  Springfield Armory has one just out that would get my attention if I was shopping.

With all this nice weather we are having we have been keeping pretty busy. Everyone is hauling manure. You can't throw a rock out here without hitting a manure truck. We got one job about half done. The neighbor shows up and wants us to haul for him too. Heck yea we will haul for anyone as long as the check is good. We supply the trucks and a loader you jut point to where you want it dumped. Problem is we are hauling for everyone else and not getting in on it our selves. That $95 and hour per truck and $65 an hour for the loader is pretty hard to pass up. I figure we can stock pile when it gets too cold to spread. As long as the piles don't freeze too hard to load.

It was Kays B day Saturday... spent the day with family, did some shooting, and then in typical Kay style she fixed a meal for a king.

Sunday was spent retrieving the sons beater suburban that had the 10bolt rear end fail in the middle of nowhere. The rest if the day was used hanging drywall because that project never ends LoL

Nate....  That would be my guess yeah. I best get that shop up and running, the projects are piling up LoL At the rate we are suffering truck failures, I may have to put some doors back on Patch, fix the lift pump and put it back in action to fill in.

Spent the day working on the stepson (none working, none going to school money sucker) spun to rod bearings and jack up the rest of them. Guess what you can't remove the flywheel in a 2.7 dodge charger with out removing the engine!

You could, probably even send him an official letter if you wanted. Make a phone call and have a difficult conversation or better yet rent a billboard out his office window with the notice on it. In the end it wouldn’t really matter how you informed him because he’s most likely still too overwhelmed with grief and too much of his time is spent with Charles in group therapy cryin over Sq D

Well, I machined some parts. Shipped some parts, built a nifty little Christmas star from 3/16 round bar then painted it. Drove an hour to see my oldest play basketball, she did pretty well I might add.

Tomorrow I put lights on that star & hang it over our front porch. I will be picking up the new grill & bringing home too.

I felt a quantum shift in the world last night.
This may mean news on Square D... Dare I say so.

But the shift I felt caused me to finally join the local volunteer FD.
It's been a pain in my butt for the past 17 odd years.
I've always been there via mutual aid when they needed, but was not willing to commit due to a few things.

Between politics, a few players, and the BS taxi calls for the ambulance I've stayed at a distance.
Recently the EMS side has been taken over by government, (unsure if good or bad).
The key players that were an issue are gone, and so went the politics.

There was some seriously shocked folks I the room when I showed up, needless to say.
They couldn't get me the paperwork fast enough.

I'm 1001 accredited, looking to complete 1002, have my instructor, a ton of other courses, and have been at it for 17 odd years. To say the least they were some happy to have me. Especially when the crew was putting up their Christmas absences, noting some big voids.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Sam. Good on you, sir.

Tonight I ordered a 40 pack of surefire cr123 batteries and some silicone 2 inch square ice cube molds for my whiskey rocks.

Coyotes are loud tonight.

Boy Scout troop from church had their wilderness survival campout in the woods behind the house last night. I stayed out until 2am talking with the leaders and putting together an equipment list. This is a brand new troop, so we are having to start pretty much from scratch with equipment. It’s going to be fun.  The boys all seemed to be doing good when I came back up to the house. It was only down in the upper 20s so not bad at all.  I’ll see how they are when I walk back out in a little bit.

Im all all stressed out again. Thursday night the boss went to town and go so drunk he didn't know were he was. Didn't now where his car was. His buddies put him in his car and sent him home. I get all these phone calls yesterday morning. Did he make it home? I haven't been that mad in a long time. I just told everyone if it happens again I will come get him. I still cant believe they let him drive home.

He has no family to answer to. Its just us. He wont listen. He gets mad and says nobody tells me what to do! He was raised an only child spoiled rich kid and throws a fit when he don't get what he wants. Especially after the stroke. His brains are still scrambled. Ive caught him drinking at 3:30 in the afternoon. The neighbors have found him passed out in his vehicle a few miles from home. I don't know what to do. From what I understand there is not much I can do until he gets caught or worse. Hurts someone.  He has been driving his personal car but wants his farm pickup back. I still have the fuel cart hooked to it from harvest. I don't want him driving drunk in a company vehicle so I haven't unhooked it yet. Not looking forward to the conversation we need to have when he does get his pickup back. Explain no drinking in company vehicles to the owner of the farm! He made my brother and I partners. If he is drunk and hurts or kills someone in a company vehicle we could loose everything. These are conversations I should be having with my teenage son not my 70 year old boss.
