I went for coffee with the wife unit this morning and then ran some odd errands. Came home for lunch, emptied some boxes and broke them down for recycling. Been in my chair watching American pickers on Hulu all afternoon. Least I’ve done in one day for weeks!
We timed that perfect I'd say. Same thing with me. ..was completely burned out and sat down for half a day, after loading my dump trailer with trimmings, Christmas tree, concrete, neighbor's goat poop, and ripped out his corral with the mini x, throwing pipes with concrete in the last bit of room in the trailer. Also tore down his 8x16 chicken coop and burned it.

Made it down to Kentucky a couple days ago with a few problems. We brought the car trailer to bring the rest of my mother in laws stuff hame. The wife's Tahoe is a poor choice of tow vehicles. The trailer is real heavy anyway but it just didn't pull worth a darn. I ended up throwing some sand tubes on the front. That helped some but not great. A combination of P rated tires and driving through pouring rain the whole way. The only thing on the trailer is some plywood I used to make sides and a couple suitcases. We are not bringing back anything real heavy. Just lots of big stuff. I am going to have make sure I have plenty of weight up front.
My wife's uncle had a severe heart attack and passed away. Nobody can afford a funeral so a few of the men in the family and I went and dug the grave by hand. It was a rough go but we got all but a foot before dark. A few guys are going back this morning to finish. This Kentucky dirt don't shovel like back home. We have Clay too but no rocks. I got an education on how to use a pick ax.
We are having Christmas today and going visiting friends. Then load up the trailer. We are heading back home the day after New year's day. It's been an interesting

Sorry to hear about your loss, Jon.
I can attest to the difficulty of digging in Kentucky’s rock laden clay “soil”. Nothing easy about it.  It may start out a rich dark soil, but about 1.5 inches down, you run into clay that only has one purpose, to hold the rocks in place.

Hit the gym this morning and the wife unit joined me. Her first time back since surgeries.

Then we recycled some moving boxes and put away more stuff at the townhome. We can finally see floor in living room!

Then went to shop and helped Baylee wrench on her two Jeeps. Dad doesn’t have to help too much unless she gets a part that isn’t cooperating quite like it should and it takes a little old guy finesse.

Came home to cheeseburger soup (one of wife’s easy meals that works best as leftovers for girls during week) and supper which was chicken fajitas.

Ran over my Poulan a couple weeks ago.
Funny,  you can almost  buy 4 poulans for the price of this Stihl HT133.

Nice addition Ken, have any of you guys with lots of equipment ever calculated just the maintenance costs per year on all those motors etc? After having a lot of that and now having relatively non I'm torn if I ever go back to all of that. Probably not here in Colorado either way so it will be a few years if I ever do...….

Best thing I did was to run non ethanol gas in the small engines and boats. Not a lot of maintenance costs, oil change on the four strokes and new plugs is about it.

100% agree with that statement for small engines ^^^^^^ do the same on my mower, snow blower and wr450

My bigger costs on farm were hydraulics of the tractors and skid loaders in addition to filters & hoses etc.

Cuts down significantly on the carb cleaning.

Except for when it goes under water :eek

Jon, sounds like a horrible day. I wish you and your family a great tomorrow.

Charles, they still have the multi-purpose set-up. Not sure if it's been updated/changed like everything else. I was not impressed with the way this new one revs up, but after some time on google I have since learned that they are 4 stroke engines now, that still take a 2 stroke mix. Well, it's probably good and broke in now after I tached it out about 50 times. (just sounds super weird...I thought it was running lean).

Shawn, yes it's a total pain. Most of my stuff usually gets used frequently, by me or someone else. Seafoam (I found issues w/stabil and hot summers), high test, and synthetic oil helps. Truth is, the fuel is just horrible now days. Varnish in 3 months...never happened 20 years ago.

Got carpet installed. Urethaned the cabinet boxes. Drinking some 133 proof by the fire after a little time in the hot tub. Life is good. Too bad we often complain about things when we are truly blessed

Ken, is there any where around you that sells “clear gas” I think is what the Maverik in Wyoming, Utah and the one in Page called it... it’s ethanol free. I’ve not seen it down here. Also, how are you getting anything done up there, seemed like it was all good and wet when we drove through today.

Not very many places in Az with pure gas, and none in Casa grande.  It doesn't help that we have an ethanol plant close by.

I used this website when I moved here to Colorado to locate it. I have to drive about twenty minutes to buy when I do fill up the cans.

Thanks for the link Shawn. As I kind of expected nothing down in the southern part of AZ and it seems regional else where. I’ve been looking for it dune here, then of course while on the road for Christmas I found in small town WY. Oh well, time is short in this locale.

Like others have said. No ethanol.
My costs are zero.
Good gas
Use occasionally
Stabilized if sitting for long term 3-4 months or more

Everything at my house except automobiles gets 89 octane ethanol free gas. Everything that’s not used regularly gets started and ran to operating temperature about once a month if it’s not being used regularly. No troubles thus far.

Similar to what I do.  All my 2 cycle always gets high octane ethonal free fuel.  The seasonal stuff gets ran dry towards the end of the season with ethonal free fuel dumped in prior to storage and then ran briefly about monthly off season.

Not sure about that, never used marine additive. My dad uses stuff made by Schaeffer lubricants. I believe it’s called soy shield. He’s also had pretty good luck with his small engine machines but the stuff he has gets used pretty often.

Just looked it up. Soy shield is for diesel fuels, soy ultra is for gas/ethanol blends.

Progressing with the garage insulation project. Spent last two weekends and New Years day cleaning out the Garage (we have way too much junk!) and then putting all of the wiring in for a Reznor style Natural Gas heater(s) and new lighting similar to what JR put in his second story addition. I'm not going to recess them but plan on making surface boxes so I can place them anywhere.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015SD5EXG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The crew is supposed to show up this morning to start with the ceiling and blow in insulation. Then do the spray foam.

It was negative temps the past three days and even had the kids out there humping the wood and junk.. LOL

Spent the day at home with the wife and a fire in the fireplace. Ice/snow storm hit the area and just didn't feel like spending an hour on the road one way with a bunch of people who can't drive on a good day. 965 accidents reported between 18:00 and 06:00

I think "watching" people who can't drive in the snow is great, just don't want to be too close.

Built a mantle yesterday

Also fixed my .99 dust pan broom from harbor freight with a three stain color combo and finish till I was done with my mantle
Doubled the value I figure
