Now this is something I'm going to try out at the cabin.
I have a couple surplus 5 watt panels from days gone by, find a couple old computer fans, I think I may have in a tickle trunk somewhere and we'll see.
I'm unsure how it will work for me, thinking to set it in the picture window, a large version, in hopes to generate a bit of heat while we're not there for the week.

I've also had a bit of research done on a pellet stove and once this winter passes and I have some valid solar data I may go that route too. This will depend on battery capacity, solar recovery, and stove requirements.

But if this heater does any good for me, I may not need to go that route.

Pop cans seem to be effective as well as a few layers of the black screening for screen doors.  I wonder if there are other materials out there that would be even better?  I also wonder if the pop can unit would be more efficient with a plenum at the bottom so the air could flow inside and outside the cans instead of only on the inside.

Sammconn:
I haven't had time to look at this much yet.

My thoughts are to remove all or part of the top and bottom of the cans.
This should create some chimney effect.
May or may not help with heating, but in my mind I think it will.
It may also reduce or eliminate the need for the fan.

Dang there's a lot more videos than I remember.....I could get lost for hours. Sheesh. One idea I did see that made a lot of sense to me instead of cutting holes in beer cans and gluing them together is the idea of aluminum downspouts. Paint them black and good to go. No silicon....waiting for them to set up....AND no hangover!  :o
