DeWalt Flexvolt
« on: July 23, 2017, 11:16:52 AM »
I started swapping over my home tools to DeWalt a few months ago after my old Rigids started failing. Started with a drill, and ended up with a Chainsaw. I don't have pics of everything, but wanted to highlight the saw first.

Curious how well those work for light work around the house? Lots of times I don't feel like firing up the Farm Boss (or want to try being stretched on a ladder using it for pruning) and have wondered about them. I saw good reviews on the Stihl version but like that I could double up on the battery flexibility with the DeWalt stuff. Love to see your review of it.

I was really sceptical of an electric chainsaw, but this past weekend it proved it's worth, impressing several of my friends and myself, on our yearly guy trip to the hills. It did well enough that we put the gasser (Stihl 360) back in the truck.
Here's a stack of oak and juniper.... little bit of pine.  Hard to see, but there's a large pile of unsplit chunks behind this one.

Wilbur, I never intended to use it in place of a gasser, but just for trimming around the house. It just so happens that it showed up a couple days before this trip, and my friends were curious, so I threw it in the truck. Glad I did....it was a beast.

Here's the brushless weed eater. This along with the chainsaw, came with dewalts largest batteries... 9 ah at 20 volts, and 3ah at 60v. Pretty heavy, but when I stuck one in a 20 v drill it lasted forever.
...and the trimmer is just as good as the chainsaw.

This was the first Flexvolt I bought. It really does have the power of electric, as advertised.

Somewhere along the line I thought I needed a leaf blower. Although it works well, there's no attachment for vacuuming like my corded one does.
Come to think of it, I don't even have any trees with leaves so it really doesn't matter.

Kenneth, I am using the crap out of that thing. Makes the job so fast. That thing knows no limits.

Gotta say, you have me intrigued with the 'letric chain saw...

One of the Stihl reviews I read was a guy throwing in his truck for a camping trip in addition to his gasser. He had a similar review but I don't think he cut as much as you did, that's a lot. He praised the quiet and how much he was able to cut with a single battery. I think k you sold me....gotta add this to the list of tools. Thanks!

Line crews have an electric pole saw that they use for almost everything. It is corded to the truck but still. The trick is keeping that blade stupid sharp.

What was it about the ridgid's that crapped out? They have a lifetime warranty on batteries and stuff.

I dropped my good 1/2" drill from the roof last winter. All of my rigid stuff was from when they first came out at HD.....25 yrs?... never registered the batteries...but most importantly, I just needed an excuse to buy Flexvolt.

I can't believe what my brother did for me today. He knows I've been investing in Flexvolt stock and basically the only thing I didn't have was a mitre saw (the one I do have is an old Ryobi cheapo). HD had a clearance on the one I wanted, so he got it for me for helping him with his house project. Gotta take some pics

Not sure I quite get the need for cordless mitre saw, but cool non the less and what a great thoughtful gift from your brother.

I was so drawn in the first time I read about Ken's new toys, i started my own collection tonight! Picked up the 7 1/4" saw with the big battery tonight over at HD. I'll put it to work in the morrow on the farm.

I feel ya, but I look at it as a corded saw, with the capability of being cordless. ..actually been a helper on an off grid build site before that it might have been handy, even though we had a generator.

Cordless miter saw would be great to have at any new build construction site. I'd love to have one just can't validate that expense. But like everyone else stated very nice! :likebutton:

I couldn't either, that's why I didn't have one. The one I originally wanted was the corded only version of this one, and it's 600 bones at HD. Looking at it that way, I'd say he got a good deal! lol

I have owned the corded version of that saw for some time, along with the working table that is made to fit it. It's all the saw you need other than a table saw for shop work (For the most part)

Dang, nice saw...I couldn't justify it either, and have a corded non slider.
But the chainsaw has me curious.
Might be handy...
Now I'm looking at flexvolt stock...
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

It's a DWX726...2 Benjamins. The sucky thing is, HD runs a special during Christmas that when you buy the large corded miter (600.00), you get the stand free. They don't do that with the flexvolt version.

I also got lucky...the new ones don't have material rollers on the sides, just metal bars, but I guess my local store had old stock (2016 on the box) and it came with them.

So, yestertag, I went over to HD (started out going to SLOWES, but ended up at HD...

Was lookin' to purchase a flexvolt saber saw, or scroll saw, and discovered that DeWalt doesn't make a cordless one that I could find. !419 for their corded one.

If I just have to get one and can't get quality then HD turns into HF...

Found this online:

http://www.dewalt.com/en-us/products/power-tools/saws/jig-saws/20v-max-jig-saw-kit/dcs331m1

A cordless jigsaw would be so nice... I'm waiting for Ridgid to come out with their palm version in 18v

I use a DeWalt corded version right now, and it's a beast

My ridgid jigsaw is the only tool that I'm not replacing. It's their first 18v version....looks like it was engineered in Germany. Really high quality compared to some others.
