Best Insurance company?
« on: June 06, 2018, 06:27:30 PM »
Just got informed my insurance guy does service my auto insurance now. (farmers)

Have had good luck with them but might be time for a change, who likes who?

I have auto, home, life and liability with them now, well someone.

I don't qualify for USAA and thinking of looking at AAA for at least some quotes. Think life would be pricey right no with me turning 60 history, but I want it too.

Shoot me some ideas guys!

Had State Farm until I moved to Colorado & they became stupid on their pricing. I have had all state for last three years & have been happy.

As far as I know I am still insured with Farmers, but pricing could be better for sure. They have treated me well when needed.

Anyone have AAA? I have their roadside as the farmers would not even show up when I called last time.

We have AAA but only as a broker. The agent has us with a local company, the rates are really good and have had good luck with glass and minor damage claim.

Dirty secret is that if you are with a company for more than 3 years you are experiencing “rate creep” and you have to shop coverages. If you like your company then share the results of your rate shopping and see if they’ll reduce your rates to something close to the market. Many times they will but if not move your coverage.

Just make sure you read the deck sheets and that you are buying the same coverage.  Most people buy on price and only find a “gotcha” when it’s too late.

And check your state department of insurance web site for ratings and complaints.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Had American Family for over 10 years, then they went up in price for no reason. Switched to Pekin and now (about 3 years later..lol) they went up 15% . I was really happy with AF...wish I would've stuck with them.

I've had AM FAM.  My family new the local agent where I grew up really well and service was always great.  He retired this last spring so it is time to shop around.  I should atleast look into moving to the local to me know agent.

I'm not much help. Have had USAA for over 20 years. TRN has great advice that I should take also. Shop around and see how my rates are with USAA.

I've had USAA for 38 years. I understand why they won't open it to everyone, but I almost there was a way we long time members could nominate folks based on say, contributions to society or patriotic acts or service other than military, like LOE or firemen/EMT.
But I'm not on the board...

Yep, I don't qualify for USAA, first thing I thought of.

My original guy was here, then moved to Sac, then he moved away and my account stayed at his office. Now this office no longer handle my auto insurance.

JR,
I know of your mom's condition, but I was thinking
Since your dad was a Marine
And your mom was his wife
Then
Could she possibly join?
And then her children would be eligible.
Friend, if there was any chance of you getting onboard and therefore allowing your kids a member number, it would be well worth your effort

I was thinking of that today and wondered about the side door like that.

Actually I contacted a local agent about my account and was told he could save me some $$$ with combined discounts and my LEO training (yep, still counts for a little). We will see where this goes and look at options from there.

Thanks for all the input guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been with State Farm for the last few years and just got my renewal for my homeowners policy today and it went up $120/year. Gonna have to call up my agent and see what gives.

I just switched over to State Farm. We had North star out of Minnesota before. Went through an independent agency. Never had a problem with them . Good rates. But they would not insure my Freightliner. I had to shop around quite a bit because I did not want state Farm. We have them for the farm and they are pain to deal with sometimes. They did eventually give me the best rate by far.

We have had farmers and Statefarm and currently back at State Farm but as Charles said.  My annual is increasing $30 bucks each year it seems.   Need to look back at it when we get the house finished.

No issue from me. Wife dinged my LBZ getting coffee about 10 years ago (smashed the bed in on a safety poll). Her car was in the shop from a fender bender  (scary driver sometimes)

Garage fire in 06 and that is it unless you go back another 15 years.

Old agent was a hand me down from a local guy. I have found a local agent and it looks good so far.
