On my last build I assembled the spring on the hammer backwards. Didn’t think it was possible but I was doing it off of memory and screwed it up. Quick inspection and I found my screw up, gave similar results though & with spring not in correctly it didn’t have enough force on the firing pin FYI....

Just a thought.

Factory ammo would have been the first ting to try, it sounds like it chambered OK. However it sounds like it was to long for the chamber and the lands got stuck as they tried to lock. That would also explain the no contact on the firing pin with the bolt back a little it would not hit square.
