Any recommendations or stay aways??

Absolutely!

Take a look at these Eaton's.
Matt is the owner and his family runs the operation.
Think about it, I just purchased a V4 as in 4 cylinder compressor with a 7.5HP Lincoln motor, all American made, truck freighted to my door for a bit over $1800.
He has them on sale at the moment, so that price won't last. I priced Ingersoll/Rand units far less capable for $2100-$2500 with $400ish shipping tacked onto that number.
The Eaton is warranted for 5 years. Uses an iron compressor, runs at a paltry 600 rpm vs. everyone else's 3450 RPM.
I think Matt arguably has the best compressor for the money in the country.

Sounds like motor widings. Too bad i wasn't local I'd fix her up for ya. New one is stout!!. I'd take the motor off the old one and have it rebuilt for a spare and use the old tank as an extra resivour. Same thing happen to a buddy. he got a new one and i rebuilt his motor on the old one and just put it back on. We plumbed the tank into the new one and just had a valve see we could isolate the the new one should it fail and just turn on the old one with the new motor. BUILD ON!!!

It was the windings...Some of them are pretty copper color and some are burnt offerings.
When I talked to Matt, owner of Eaton Compressors, first we started off talking about the 10HP V4 unit. With it, he suggested I keep the old tank and use it as an extra reservoir tank. He said the 10 HP unit filled the stock 80 gallon tank so fast, that it was basically always just starting up and running for less than a minute then shutting off. He said to run it on a single 80 gallon tank, one needed to add in some kit to make the pump run continuously.

That's what made me decide to go with the 7.5HP and 80 gallon. I have thought about running both supply tanks though.

Well, I have this monster of a compressor on property.

It's huge!

No way you'd believe you can buy this much compressor for what I paid for it. $1820 Delivered!

It's 32 SCFM, 24SCFM @ 100 psi and only runs at 600 rpm!

The electric motor is WAAAY bigger than the 6.5HP one on my last compressor. It's so large it has two lifting eyes bolted just to it!

It weighs 923 lbs and will soon be moving into residence in the CC (Compressor Corner)

So you really like this compressor Don? Let me know what you think about it, because I'm in the market to buy a new one. Since I have this large shop, I might as well install a good compressor, instead of this cheapo WalMart version I inherited from my dad. He used it for a good 15 years at least...

Absolutely no question what so ever.
This is not only the best compressor out there, but the best price as well.
All American made. All American parts. Mom and pop business, been around for a long time. Long warranty

really...32 CFM for $1639 + SHipping?????????

Where can you even approach that let alone match or exceed it

Give them a call before these units come off this sale

I took my demolition saw to it. The cats and dogs scattered knowing what happens when I get to cuttin' and cussin'

But after some sawin' I was left with some useful stuff to burn whilst it's -5F outside! Yea and a windchill holding in and around -30F

No animals injured in the making of this short story (So far)

Now that's a motor

Has it's own lifting eyes cause weakling girly men American workers have all gotten weak and fat, or the thing really is heavy, one of the two...

It's 7.5 HP and probably makes more torque than my Duramax

The compressor itself is a 4 cylinder cast iron piece of American muscle removed from a big block Chevelle. That compressor weight 268 pounds. Yep, only the black iron lookin thing!

Since it was -30F when I unloaded it, the polar air thing was no joke!

It's difficult with the so-so quality of the pics from this Jap camera, but it has 2 belts, instead of the usual one

It comes with a ball valve water drain and a 3/4" NPT outlet to plumb into whatever you need it to fit to

Thought everyone would get a kick out of this...

I told the pre-Rangers to take the wood inside and stack it

They did, right on the fireplace

And with a fire blazing just behind!

YIKES!

Concept 1: Bring over Duane's engine hoist, rig it and then move the whole assembly into CC.
I need that crane anyway to pull the cyl head off the Cummins so's eyes kan do me magic to it...get it to speak French and all...

Concept 2 is to build a castering wheel platform then roll it into position. Then chock the thing in place so it won't walk all over the place.

I am now favoring door #2 so I can move it for cleaning/maintenance, and move it to the CCSB (Car crafting survival barn) when I get that built.

Hey, I thought of a kool concept for a meet n' greet at Don's farm. We all come and find some space in the CCSB and work on a project. Anyone who comes without a project can work on big red or split wood, or stack rocks or cook or something like that.

Today was a shop cleanup and reorganization. I had to muscle that 1,000 pound compressor into place, all the way on the other end of the garage. That was a bear. I man-handled it and only threw my back out. I think the nearly ruptured spleen and the hernias will heal given time!

Here it in "installed" and working!
