Coming along nicely!
Man it just keeps looking bigger and bigger.
Not what I remember from the original renderings you'd posted.
Maybe I just didn't quite get the scale.

Getting a little further along. My concrete sub, Sergio, electrocuted himself and may lose an arm (quick prayer for him) so some of the concrete work is currently on the back burner. Pretty much all framed up. Roof kit is enrt and we are ahead of schedule.

Take a look here and you will get an idea of our color scheme-

Liking the shades of brown, stained doors and plank shutters. So far on budget... Excavation and backfill has broken over center but we knew that would happen the first day we broke ground! This house is built on solid rock just shy of needing explosives.

What's the green? are they using insulation panels or is that just a different kind of house wrap?

The green is the zip plank. It is OSB with a heavy sealant on it. It tongue and grooves together as opposed to butting up flush. Even though it's tongue and groove the seams are still taped. The wrap will go on after.

Well that is cool. I was wondering the same and got beat to the punch.
The T&G would make installation much easier. Always hated needing to be an octopus to do the sheathing.

what are you going with as far as insulation?  are you going rolled pink type stuff or are you going full spray foam type insulation?

I love the sprayed in foam.  I've had it in two houses.  Not cheap but very effective.  Make sure you get all your conduit and wire drops in because its impossible once the foam is in

Little bit of both Nate. Going to do a lot of sound proofing on certain interior rooms. Those will be batted. Still researching the spray stuff. It's pretty common in our region on new construction.

HC, I did extensive sound proofing in my house.

Interior walls got bat or spray in stuff

Then one day Heather comes upstairs, been crying. She says she was yelling forever and no one came. She hurt herself. Then I realized that indeed, you really can't hear very well what is going on just a couple rooms away. Between floors, forget it.

So just a thought, but I moved the girls out of the lower level. Thought if someone did a snatch and grab one night, I'd never get the chance to send them to the fiery pits.

I look for maids all the time! Mama always says no unless she can pick the gardeners and the pool boy... Lol

Actually brother, we all have jobs to do from me down to the four year old. We don't always have the neatest home but it's always clean.

This is a pretty big home, but a few of the rooms are double booked. Not really much excess. We want it to look nice, but not take your breath away.

My wife spent a lot of years in school and training and works really hard for the money she makes. I've put my butt on the line for a lot of people over the years in support of their American Dream both as a grunt and a contractor and a police officer. I put a chunk of change away living on Top Ramen and pork n beans for my own American Dream and by golly it's time we start capitalizing on it. *Hopefully* we get to enjoy it a good long while before the SHTF...

Looking good HC.  I know you have to be testing your patience waiting on it to be finished.  How's Sergio, the sub that got electrocuted?  Any update?  Will he keep the arm?

As for Sergio. They are trying desperately to save his arm. Don't get too many updates unless I happen to catch a mud slinger on scene. Even then communication in English is challenging.

Burned from the inside out, isn't it? From the conduction of high voltage?

When more electricity enters the body than it can absorb it exits, microwaving you from the inside out. Really a horrible sight. I've unfortunately seen a few electrocution deaths and they are by far the worst. I've heard before from electricians they would rather take a blast from 220 than get locked up by 110. I guess a 110 circuit will hang on to you until it trips, where as a 220 will knock you away. I'm not sure what Sergio got in to. My general said he was tampering with a transformer some way.

Yes, 110 causes muscle contractions so you hang onto the wire.  That is why electricians test wires hanging from the ceiling by swiping them with the back of their hands (crazy but true).  220 will blow you off of the wire.

Transformers are a whole different game.  Depending on whether he got on the primary or secondary side, he could have had a lot of voltage.  However, as tazers show, it is the amperage and not the voltage that kills you.  I took a 130kV shot once off the ignition of my race car.  Very low amperage, but I had to take a seat for a few minutes while the buzz wore off. 110v with low amperage can in fact kill you.

Again, prayers for him and his family.

Still have to frame up the front porch and the roofs for those and the back deck.

Thinks for the comment on the lines. I actually rendered the house myself a la pencil and sketch pad. A friend of ours plugged it in to his cad. And made it right.... I can't believe people used to draw these plans with ink and rulers... There is so much to think about and even via computer things still don't come out quite right!!

Anyone familiar with acucraft? About to order one of their see thru units-

Looking really good there Blaine!
I was just thinking there should be an update coming soon.
The framing part always is impressively fast. Then it seems to stall as visually nothing seems to change. Even though lots will be going on, it doesn't seem to be as obvious, as walls and roofs are easy to see, roughing in electrical and plumbing don't appear as much going on.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Really like the two sided fireplace concept, especially in a house large enough to use it!  Why only see one side of the logs blazing?  Gives additional heat, light etc. so cool choice!

Retired teacher friend of mine built a all natural stone one, double sided, on a lake in Boulder Junction, WI that turned out WAY cool, but required a rediculous footing for all the weight.  Could only do two to four courses of stone a day due to weight and stability waiting for the mortar to cure, so it was a slow process for 3 stories!

Keep up the picture flow- was one of the courses I took in high school, pencil, paper, ink and vellum plans and blue-prints, so I know of what you speak!
