VA Logic

You just have to smile when dealing with the government

I filed for VA benefits. More to the point, for them to look at the earlier determinations they had made which resulted in practically no benny at all for the kid.

You almost have to chuckle at some of their statements and findings

Finger smashed...Finger smashed in breach of M60 Tank cannon...Not service connected

Mind you, these are VA findings and determinations I am paraphrasing

Blotchy skin...Gulf war syndrome...Not service connected

^^^ Just think about that one for a minute...8-/

Tinnitus...10% disability...Not service connected

PTSD...30%...Not combat related
So where did I supposedly get it at? While watching the movie "Alien?"

Acute hearing loss...0%...Not service connected
They must think I was flying the chinooks with the rotor blade mufflers

Back pain...10%...resulting from two lower back surgeries and injuries...Not service connected
Interesting to note both took place while I was on active duty, with one requiring me to be medevaced from a field site while training with the 101st Airborne division.

I never realized you can actually not be in the military, while being on active duty. And getting PTSD while hanging out at Ft. Campbell is apparently worse than flying missions while getting shot at where people died.

You can even have a part of your hand cut off while loading a tank cannon and in some way, you are not in the Army at the time

First the democrats fell off the cliff, looks like they drug the VA with them

I honestly have heard of multiple cases where employees (x air or army) working at Hill Airforcr Base show zero record of being in any part of the military. File comes up empty, zero records, And they still get a check for retirement or for disability but when they apply for something it shows zero record.

Most recently a gent was telling me of his medical troubles and when he filed for help on base which he has 15 years at, they show he isn’t even and employee.   Figure that one out?

Let me know how it works out. I'm thinking of asking to get re-evaluated  after 2 surgeries and marked hearing loss (I thinking JP-4 & 8 they have now tied to hearing loss). Did you use a veteran or some other service organization or did you do it on your own?

Thanks
Steve

I am using:

Vet Comp and Pen

Veterans compensation and Pension

A professional group of over 200 nurses, doctors and former VA personnel who were frustrated at the lack of response of their former organization to actually acknowledge legitimate claims.

There is a process there starting with screening. They do not just pick up anybody, only those with (in their view) an ethical right to the increased benefits

VA told me since I volunteered to jump out of planes... knees and back not service connected. Finally got my knees re-rated, back no joy. Oh well.

How does that work exactly? You volunteered but they paid you to do it so in my mind they would acquire some liability in that scenario.

So then my next question is let’s say the chute didn’t open and you plummeted to your death. Well, you volunteered to do it sorry for you?!? Really?

You can't use logic when dealing with the VA. They sent me to a TMJ re-evaluation at the "closest" place that'll be able to perform it. Mind you this is literally a 15 minute evolution if the Dr wants to stretch it out, in reality 5 minutes. They sent me 4 hours away.

Bobby is right about the VA. THeir entire culture is big government and bureaucracy and absolutely not oriented on the service member.
Citing Bobby's example of sending him 4 hours away, ALthough there is a major VA hospital in Cincinnati, just 25 miles distant, they sent me to Louisville to a contract doctor for my most recent exam.
In hindsight, getting a contract doc was better for me than the VA clerks who simply want to process you out of existence quickly so they can get off to lunch.
This is a direct lesson in socialism. Greater government control is inversely proportional to the quality of the care one receives.

I believe should a socialist democrat take over, when they are given the choice of buying the VA more beds and a MRI, they will use the money instead on some lunatic scheme aimed directly at buying votes. I DO NOT trust them at all.

The VFW and American Legion both have a reportedly good team to help vets get disability, or get reevaluated. For those who are interested.
